fashion-over-40

I’m baaaaaack! It’s SO good to be home and sleeping in my own bed and back on some semblance of a routine. My kids are all three in camps this week, so I’m trying to pound out as many posts as possible so I can enjoy them when they’re at home next week.

As I do every Wednesday, I’m joining fashion bloggers around the world and sharing some of my outfits from the past week. I’m certainly no fashionista, but I do try to keep up with current trends and incorporate them into my busy suburban mom life as best I can. It’s getting to that point of the season where I feel like these posts are getting super redundant. I have to remind myself that the goal of this feature isn’t to have a slew of new outfits to show every week. It’s about a real mom wearing real clothes in real life, and how I keep my style current and age appropriate. At least that’s the goal! Hopefully some of my outfits will inspire you, even though most of these are old and I don’t have many product links.

One of our last days in Maine, we went biking around Schoodic. It was sooooo much fun! I wore my Rio Run Capris & royal blue sweatshirt (both c/o Fabletics) with a hot pink Nike racer-back top and my faithful Wave Riders (c/o Mizuno and FitFluential.) I shed the sweatshirt when it got warmer.

When we got to Schoodic Point at the Southern tip of the peninsula, we stopped to to rest and watch the waves splash up on the rocks before hopping back on our bikes for the rest of the 10-mile loop.

For our drive from Maine to Massachusetts, I dressed comfortably in my favorite cuffed jean shorts and this medallion print top from Gap (both old) with my silver Orthaheel Mia sandals and You Are My Sunshine necklace by Stella & Dot.

The next day I wore a pair of khaki shorts and orange ribbed tank (both from Banana Republic a few years ago) to hang out at my sister-in-law’s house. The gold necklace and earrings are Stella & Dot, and the shoes are the only ones I packed in our weekend suitcase so I was stuck wearing them yet again. See how low maintenance I can be? Don’t laugh…

Finally, on Sunday I wore my orange t-shirt dress to church. I got home from vacation to find my latest Stella & Dot order waiting for me, and I didn’t waste any time putting my new accessories to good use!

That’s the Aria Pendant Necklace, the R Bracelet (my daughter’s name is R so I HAD to have that, of course!!!) and the Pave Chevron Ring. I snagged the blue R Minkoff Mini 5 Zip on the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last week (unfortunately it is no longer on sale AND the color seems to be no longer available, although it comes in other fabulous colors.) And the chambray wedges are Toms. At first I was afraid I had too much going on with the orange dress and the blue in the purse and shoes and the pink and orange bracelet, but somehow it seems to all work.

And that’s about all I’ve got. I have spent the last few days being a total bum so I’ll spare you that. Re-entry after two weeks away is tough!

  1. So many cute pieces remixed into great outfits Jo-Lynne. Love the bermuda denim shorts, metallic sandals, denim wedges and orange dress. Would love for you to check out how I remixed my black shorts lately. You always manage to look so chic in your shorts, so I’d love to see what you think. Thanks. =)

  2. Love seeing your everyday looks! My favorite is the orange dress with the denim wedges! The photos from your bike trip are gorgeous!

  3. Jo-Lynne- I love your fashion posts! I’ve only been doing this a short time, but I understand what you are saying when you say “This is about a real mom, in real life, showing real clothes.” It’s so easy to get lost in the “Oh I need a new outfit to feature on my blog.” It’s certainly not something I want to do mainly because I don’t have the budget for it! Anyway- I LOVE that Rebecca Minkhoff cross body—I’m so BUMMED I didn’t get it at the anniversary sale!!!
I love your blog- you inspire me! I even wrote about you today 🙂

  4. What a beautiful bike ride! Especially love the biking outfit (it looks so comfy yet so stylish) and the t-shirt dress. I’ve heard so many good things about Wave Runners lately; they look amazing.
