Fashion Over 40: Daily Mom Style 05.13.15

Welcome back to my weekly post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fashion bloggers around the web! I’m just a typical suburban mom trying to stay fabulous after 40 and sharing what I learn along the way. I hope you find some style inspiration here.

Wearable Spring Fashion For Women Over 40

I wore this very casual outfit to work at home last week on one of those super hot days. The tank and shorts are both old, but I love the fit of both so they seem to make the summer wardrobe cut year after year.

The Mai Sandals were sent to me from Børn Shoes for a style collab we’re doing together. In addition to styling a few pairs of shoes from their new spring line, I’m Guest Pinner for their Børn Celebrates Spring Pinterest Board. Have you checked it out yet?? I’m pinning all my favorite spring looks.

These sandals are super soft and comfortable, and I love the design of the thin metallic straps. They stay on my feet without looking bulky, and the cushioned footbed is like walking on pillows.

The mixed stone necklace is old too. I got it and the matching earrings, which you can barely see, at a Silpada party long, long ago. I wore Alex and Ani bangles and carried my taupe purse.

This is another outfit that I styled for the style collab with Børn. I paired this ivory tunic and tank set with my mint skinny jeans. I love this muted color combo, and the gold sandals worked perfectly with it.

The Tilda Sandals also give me a nice boost in the height department, but they also give my feet the support and stability they need. Plus, the padded footbed is incredibly comfortable.

I accessorized with gold. I like layering two pendants like this when I’m wearing a V-neck. The shorter one fills in the neckline, and the longer one creates a vertical line that’s supposed to be slimming. I’ll go with it.

This is an outfit I wore to work from home and to my son’s band concert last week. The Mandy Top is a new one just recently sent to me from LNBF. I ADORE this top. Wait till you see the back.

Isn’t this fun? You can layer it over a tank if you’re at all uncomfortable with the sheer detail down the back, but I thought it was fun.

I wore it with my dark jeans, which I cuffed to make them cropped. I threw on the orange bracelet for color, and then I wore this gold necklace to add some interest in the front. I like that it’s lightweight enough to not create any distracting wrinkles in my shirt. I wore my black Orthaheel Adelie sandals.

On Friday, I took my parents to Longwood Gardens, and I wore my Athleta Dot Fuse Dress with my Ecco Biom Toggle Sneakers. It was a warm day, and I wanted to be cool and comfortable yet look dressy enough for lunch at a nice restaurant. I think this works. I carried a metallic tote and accessorized with silver jewelry.

I wore this on Monday to get together with a friend at the mall. It’s the Carly Skirt from LNBF with the orange ribbed tank that I wore with the khaki shorts above. I was afraid I’d be chilly in the mall, so I wore my jean jacket.

This was my Mother’s Day outfit. I picked up the Lucky Brand floral top a few years ago at a local shop. I always enjoy wearing it in the springtime.

I paired it with my white jeans, and I wore the Børn Tilda Sandals again. It was so nice to feel tall!

The Pave Chevron Necklace seemed like the perfect accessory. It’s delicate enough so as not to overpower the top, but by wearing it with all three strands, it fills in the neckline nicely. You can wear it with any combination of those three strands, making it super versatile. I added my Goddess Teardrop Earrings and the Adelina Cuff Bracelet.

I carried this Michael Kors tote. I love the luggage color. It’s making a comeback this season, as a matter of fact. I just read in my latest InStyle Magazine that brown is suddenly hot again. Who knew!? I picked this bag because I thought it blended well with the outfit, and I needed a larger purse than my small Tory Crossbody because I was going to be out all day.

Finally, I wore this yesterday to work from home. Pardon the wacky lighting, but you’ve seen this outfit before. I finally picked up some canvas sneakers. It’s about time; I’ve been wanting a pair for years.

I love the relaxed fit of the burnout tee is from Kohl’s, and cuffed jean shorts should be in every woman’s wardrobe. They’re so easy to wear, and you can dress them up or down. These are a few years old, but there are always new versions of these in the stores. Nordstrom has a bunch right now, as does Kohl’s and Target.

  1. I love all of the outfits this week! Have you ever tried the b.o.c. sandals by born? The styles are really similar and I’m wondering if the more expensive ones are really more comfy? The b.o.c. ones I have are comfy enough for a day in retail, so maybe I should just stick with what I have.

Also, though I’m sure you don’t care nearly as much as I do, but I’m commenting at 9:15, having already drank a cup of coffee, and my daughter is still sound asleep! Yay for a quiet start to my morning.

    1. LOL! 9:15??? That IS a beautiful thing! And yes, the b.o.c. brand is great too. I’m not sure they’re leather? but they’re definitely comfy. My daughter had boots in that brand last winter, and they served her well.

      1. Yeah, I was kinda thinking leather vs not may very well be the reason for the difference in price. I’ve seen some b.o.c.’s that are leather, but not many.

  2. Love all the outfits this week and especially love the gold wedges and necklaces. Thanks for the inspiration, which I can incorporate what I have already in my closet into similar outfits.
