Fashion Over 40 #WhatIWore 10.22.14

Hey, so I’m home! For good this time . . . at least for the foreseeable future.

Welcome to my weekly Fashion Over 40 post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fabulous fashion bloggers around the web! This week’s post isn’t very relevant since I was hanging out at Beaches Turks & Caicos for the better part of the week, but here’s what I wore anyway. Perhaps if you’re planning a tropical vacation this winter, it will interest you. If not, I will be back next week with some fun fall looks . . . that is, if I ever get out of my yoga pants. I’m not feeling very highly motivated at the moment.

I don’t have any pictures from Wednesday (packing day) or Thursday (travel day), but here is a photo of Darcie and me on Friday — the first day of the conference. I wore this casual Athleta dress and my Orthaheels sandals.

That night I changed into this maxi skirt and black tank for dinner. My husband snapped these photos on the beach. All three necklaces are Stella & Dot.

And here I am with my man. Funny thing, I posted this to Facebook and Instagram with the caption, “19 years and counting… I think I got the best end of this deal.” To which I got a SLEW of comments wishing us a happy anniversary. It’s not our anniversary, although it was just a couple months ago and this trip sorta could count, I guess. 19 years seems surreal. I look at this picture and I can only see the two kids that met in college over 20 years ago. We may bicker like siblings (we always have), but there’s no one I’d rather do life with. It was great to get away and have time together, just the two of us. It’s been a long time since we’ve gone away without the kids.

I wore this casual outfit on Saturday to breakfast with the bloggers and to a mixology class that was an absolute blast. More on that to come.

Everyone at the conference got to pick out a pair of Ted Baker sunglasses, compliments of Iristocracy. I chose these aviators.

I changed into my swimsuit and this cute coverup for an afternoon by the pool. The coverup came from Stitch Fix just in time for my trip. SCORE!!!

And here I am with my gorgeous speaking partner, Carol Cain, aka Girl Gone Travel. Yes, I’m going there. This is my swimsuit. I got it a few years ago at Title Nine, and I love the bright colors. I always get compliments on it.

This was our date night to Le Petit Chateau — one of the only adult-only restaurants on the property and probably the best meal we had while we were at the resort. Which, frankly, isn’t saying much. The food was disappointing overall, but we enjoyed this one.

I wore this orange striped dress (previously seen in Costa Rica) and my new Reverie Chandelier Earrings.

Later that night was the closing party for the conference, and I changed into this comfy dress that I picked up when I was in Costa Rica. I also threw this on over my bathing suit earlier that day. I’m sad to pack this away. It’s so cute and fun to wear. Until next year . . .

I wore this casual outfit on Sunday, our first full day without any conference commitments. We hung out on the beach for a while in the morning, then I had a most luxurious massage in the resort spa. Later on we went sailing and then hung out by the pool before dinner.

I didn’t get a picture of my dinner outfit, or at least not a very good one, which is a bummer because I really like it. I wore white dressy shorts with a red CAbi top. My husband snapped a couple of photos on his smartphone after dinner, but it was dark and shadowy. Bummer.

I wore athletic capri pants and a sweatshirt to travel home, and I have pretty much been living in activewear ever since. I haven’t quite gotten my mojo back yet.

  1. Oh man, you didn’t like the food?! Bummer. It was awesome when we were there. Glad you at least got to enjoy Le Petit Chateau! Looks like a blast — jealous, for sure. 🙂 🙂

    1. Was it? How long ago were you there? It was consistently awful. By the end, I just wanted a good pub burger and a glass of wine that didn’t taste like California table wine, lol.

  2. Unfortunately, a while ago. LOL. It was 10 years ago now. I don’t remember having bad food (and I’m a little judgy about food at all-inclusives in general). Such a bummer that it went so downhill!

    1. Yeah, I wasn’t the only one expressing that sentiment. After having such great food at the Westin in Costa Rica (also an all-inclusive) I was expecting it to be pretty good, which I think made it doubly disappointing.

  3. I absolutely love that orange striped dress!! Do you remember where you purchased it? I am fairly new to your blog but I really love it! Thanks.

    1. Yes, it was from Nordstrom. Unfortunately, it’s sold out. I checked for someone else last time I posted it. 🙁 The good news is, it’s fairly inexpensive (for Nordstrom – plus, I got it on a 40% off sale at the end of the season) so you can take a look at the brand – FELICITY & COCO – for other ideas.

  4. Sweet! I just picked up this orange striped dress for an upcoming cruise! Have you ever done a what to wear on a cruise post?
