Spring/Summer Pajama Refresh

As you’re changing your closet over for spring and weeding out worn-out items you aren’t wearing anymore, don’t forget about your pajama drawer! It’s an easy one to overlook. After all, who really cares what you wear to sleep in, right?

Well, I beg to differ. I want my family to know they matter enough to me to make an effort to look decent in what I wear around the house, as well as what I wear out and about. Even if they’re the only people who ever see my pajamas, I still don’t want them to be worn and frumpy.

Plus, it’s just a nice way to treat yourself. It’s amazing how much a simple thing like new pajamas can brighten your day!

Soma is currently my favorite place to shop for pajamas, especially when they’re on sale! I love their Cool Nights line, and I picked up this set when I was in Sarasota last month. They have a store at St. Armands Circle, and I wandered in with Deb and Alison after having lunch at a restaurant called Shore.

I love the ruched sleeves and v-neck on this top, and the nice easy length with a straight hem. The pants are super soft and flowy, with a comfy elastic waistband that isn’t binding, and the crop length is perfect for spring.

This floral print must have been calling my name because I also ended up getting the tie-front midi chemise and matching robe.

I’ve never been much for nightgowns, but Alison insisted that I needed one to take some pictures by the bathtub in my suite at The Sarasota Modern. I mean, seriously, look at this! There was literally a clawfoot tub on the balcony.

. The chemise has a built-in shelf bra and adjustable straps, and the midi length is easy to wear without feeling fussy. And I’ve already worn the robe a lot more than I expected. I especially like the length of the sleeves for spring/summer, and the way the tie is attached in the back so it isn’t sliding around.

Sometimes I wear it over the chemise, but I also like to throw it on after my shower when I’m doing my hair and makeup in the mornings.

It’s also really lightweight and packs down easily for travel. I took it with me to Delray Beach last week, and I was so glad I had it… I much prefer a lightweight robe to the heavy terrycloth ones provided by the hotel.

Soma has a lot of other nice sleepwear options right now, and some styles are on sale. If you’re looking to update your spring/summer pajamas this spring, I rounded up a bunch of options for you from Soma as well as some other favorite retailers below.

  1. My son is graduating from High school the end of June in NJ. Please post some appropriate dresses or jumpsuits or casual business outfits that could work. I’m thinking of open toe wedges for shoes once I select an outfit. Would love to hear your opinions.

Hope you’re doing well and speedy recovery!

  2. I started doing this a few years ago when switching over my closet. I was one who would neglect it and boy was I surprised at the amount of pjs in the drawer I no longer wore or even liked.. it was nice to give it a good overhaul and now I just maintain it ! I love the colors in the robe you’re wearing !

  3. This is a timely post for me. I have several trips planned for spring/summer, and I’ve been thinking it’s time to freshen my PJ drawer. I too have items that need to as they’re looking pretty dingy. I tend to buy PJ bottoms—long and short—and then just add an everyday cotton tee or tank with them, but “real” PJs might be fun. I’m going to place an order. Thanks, Jo-Lynne. I hope PT went well.

  4. I agree that pajamas are important. I won’t wear worn-out pajamas or athleisure when lounging around at home. I don’t feel confident wearing something ugly or ill-fitting, so even my at-home clothes are cute (as well as comfy).

I prefer pajama sets, and I will check out those cute Soma pieces. Thanks!

  5. I just went through my PJ drawers and threw out a lot. I had bought new ones recently… last Summer and new Christmas ones but didn’t purge too. I still want to get a few more sets. PJs make me happy at the end of my day. I’d like to try Soma as I haven’t yet. Love your nightgown and robe set. So pretty. The picture by the tub is soooo cute. I need a new robe as I always wear one getting ready in the mornings. I need to purge all my old ones. Great post.

  6. Your new pajamas are very pretty! I do like for my pajamas to be in good shape, especially since I never know when one of our male neighbors are going to stop by.

  7. Allison was spot on with pic by the bathtub. And it should be in a Soma ad! 😊
BTW , did you like Shore restaurant ? Having family visit and wondering if it meets all the hype.

  8. I’ve always had sexy nighties and then sleepwear to take on vacations that I wouldn’t be embarrassed being seen in in case of an evacuation. Weird I know but that happened in 2010 when I was in Hawaii. Luckily I had sweats to throw on.

I like Soma’s Cool Nights collection that I found during menopause. Last summer I bought a shorts and button up set from Amazon. I was surprised how much I Ioved it and bought a second color. Leikar is the brand.
