Floral Cami + Cashmere Cardigan

Hello Tuesday! Welcome back to 26 Days of Fall Fashion. I styled this floral cami last month with black jeans and a budget-friendly camel ribbed cardigan, and it’s been hanging in my closet beside this beige oatmeal cashmere cardigan ever since. Some of my favorite outfit combinations have come together because I see things hanging together in my closet, and this might be another one.

Since I’ve already styled this floral cami with a cardigan, I wanted to give this outfit a different vibe, but I think it ended up being another dressed-up casual look even though I wore it with blue jeans this time. The shoes really dress it up, but they worked so well, I couldn’t resist.

My perforated peep toe booties would also look good with this, but they’ve already been put away for the season. That was probably a bit premature, but I felt they were too summery for September in the northeast. I’m regretting that now, but not badly enough to dig them out of the attic. Ha!

Because these sandals are suede, I kept them out for a while longer. Sorry they’re out of focus; I cropped this in from a full-length shot. You get the idea, though, and I realize they’re nothing new, but I love the color and the way it works with this outfit. The beige oatmeal sweater on top and oatmeal suede sandals on the bottom bookend the look and bring it all together, even though the cami has a dark background and the blue jeans are on the darker side of the color spectrum as well.

I got smart this time and wore this cami with a strapless bra so I could remove the sweater if need be. This would be a fun date night outfit or girls night out look, but since it has spaghetti straps, the cami isn’t office-appropriate unless you leave the sweater on all day.

I just wish the cami were a little more structured. It hangs straight rather than curving in at the waist, but that could be fixed with tailoring. I wish I had time to tailor everything before I post to the blog, but that ain’t happening so we’ll all just have to use our imaginations.

This sweater, though. I love it. It was one of the first things I grabbed at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale when I shopped on opening day, and while it’s a bit spendy, the quality is excellent, plus it’s cashmere so it will last for years. Of course, I also got it on sale. Hopefully it will go on sale again as we get closer to cold weather.

Since it has 3/4 sleeves, it isn’t something I’ll wear on the coldest winter days, but it’s actually quite warm so I’m sure I can wear it for quite a while. If you live in the south, you could definitely wear this all winter long.

Here’s a view of the back. It’s not exactly slimming, but it’s thin enough and drapes nicely that it isn’t unflattering either. This luxurious sweater comes in several gorgeous colors, and it’s O/S so it makes a nice gift if sizing is an issue. Christmas is only 3 months away! #dontshootthemessenger

I accessorized with a cuff bracelet and a layer necklace. Both are Stella & Dot and both are discontinued, but I love this Kendra Scott cuff, and this 3-disc necklace is a nice option for the necklace.

The statement ring I’m wearing is kate spade, and it’s also discontinued, but I couldn’t resist putting it on with this outfit. It coordinates perfectly with this cami.

These jeans were another #NSale purchase. I realize this outfit adds up, but the shoes, jeans, and sweater (and actually, my handbag too) were all purchased at 30-40% off.

This is why I still say the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale isn’t overhyped. Even though it was frustrating how fast some things sold out, and it’s a bit demoralizing to see other things on an even deeper discount after the sale, many popular items either sold out or went back to the original price, and you just never know. But I digress.

I love the wash on these AG legging jeans. They’re the perfect amount of distressed without being ripped or torn, the classic mid-indigo wash goes with just about anything, and the raw hem adds a modern touch. If you like legging jeans and don’t want to pay AG prices, Lucky Brand does a great job with their Brooke legging jeans and they often go on sale.

I carry this bag a lot because it goes with a lot! My exact bag is gone now, but this one is the same size and color; it just has a tassel and some suede accents. I actually like it as much or more than mine. That tassel is a really fun detail.

Well, that’s about all I have to say about this outfit! It was plenty, I guess.

I often struggle with how to wrap up these posts, but I like to put a full length outfit photo at the end so you can see it altogether one last time, now that I’ve dissected it to bits. Ha!

  1. I keep thinking I need to seasonalize my closet now that I have so many clothes. But it’s still so warm here that I’m not sure I’d put the summer things away yet. Has it cooled down there already??
I love the heels with this outfit—it really floats my boat, because it seems to add an air of sophistication with the look, Jo-Lynne!!

  2. I’m so sad I didn’t get to keep that cami!  What an awesome outfit!  I’m one of those people most will find disgusting because my Christmas shopping is done.  It seems to sneak up on us every year.  Have a blessed day!

  3. Love the shoes! They look identical to the Stuart Weitzman ones which are alas so pricy. I have a pair of those but want other colors. Are they as comfortable?

    1. I don’t have the SW NearlyNude so I can’t compare (although I have drooled over them…) but I have the Nudistsong, and these are every bit as comfy as those or more b/c the straps are wider. The NearlyNude has a 3 1/4″ heel and these Sam Edelmans have a 4″ heel so there’s that to consider.

  4. Love this whole outfit! You recommend the AYW course and I’m taking it now. We’re at the jeans lesson ????????. What is your body type Jolynne?
    Thank you for this blog!!
