Floral Trumpet Sleeve Top

Hello, friends! Happy Monday! Today I’m styling a floral trumpet sleeve top for spring.

Ironically, we’re expecting a major nor’easter tomorrow. Gotta love a snowstorm in March! I’m trying to get as much work in today as possible since I’ll probably have kids underfoot for the next few days.

Last week we had some nice mild weather, but my husband (also my photographer) was in Seattle all week for work, so I sent out an s.o.s. to a few local photographers to see if I could shoot some spring outfits before winter returns. I was fortunate enough to find two talented ladies willing to fit me in on the nicest days. I shot this look with Dottie Foley in downtown West Chester, a great little college town in our area.

The second I saw this floral blouse, I was smitten. I don’t normally wear prints, much less florals, but something about this one spoke to me.

I absolutely love the trumpet sleeves and the ruffle hem, and the color palette is so springy and pretty.

The back has this keyhole tie closure that’s a pretty feature as well. I did wear a nude cami under this top because it’s fairly sheer. Also, at one point, the wind blew so that my shirt blew up, and I was glad I had some extra coverage. All that to say, I would definitely recommend a base layer with this top.

I paired it with my favorite distressed jeans and espadrille wedges in keeping with the boho vibe.

These shoes are my favorites from last summer, and now they’re 50% off at 6pm.com. (Lucky you!) They’re still spendy, but Stuart Weitzman makes one gorgeous shoe, and they’re incredibly comfortable too, especially considering the height. I have the Dove, but the Adobe color is also a nice choice and very versatile.

The popular Marc Fisher Adalyn or Annie espadrilles would also be cute with this outfit, as would these with the criss-cross straps. For a lower priced espadrille, these Steve Madden at DSW are a great dupe for the Marc Fisher Adalyn, and this pair at Target is super cute.

I carried my ivory saddle bag, another favorite from last year. Now it’s available by a 3rd party seller on Amazon, and it’s slightly discounted from last year’s full retail price. I also like this grey leather saddle bag from R Minkoff, and this Sole Society version is a nice budget buy.

I wore my beaded hoops and no other jewelry. I figured a bracelet would distract from the pretty sleeve detail, and I couldn’t decide on a necklace I liked with this. It doesn’t really need one, but the right piece could add a nice dimension to the outfit.

I’m definitely planning to pack this outfit for the fashion blogging conference I’m attending next month, and I’m sure I’ll wear it out to dinner and for some other spring events when I want something casual that is a little extra special.

For a dressier look, I think this blouse would be great paired with white jeans, and I’d also love to see it with olive-colored pants. I’ve been trying to find a pair, but so far, no dice.

  1. You always look so pretty in pink…definitely one of your colors!

Love the sleeve detail and pairing the light and feminine blouse with the distressed jeans.

I will try this (but I’ll need a longer shirt for my shape). SUPER cute!

Sandals….can’t wait. But since I live near Buffalo, I’ll have to 🙂

  2. So pretty! Love this! Stay safe and warm in the snow! Here in Cincinnati I think we are just supposed to get 1-2 inches, but that’s more than we’ve just about had all winter!

  3. You look so pretty in the top and the whole outfit is great.. I love what you shared about the wind and your top! I’d love to find a pair of low height espadrilles with arch support! The scenery is so nice for photo shoots. While your husband does a wonderful job as your photographer, I’m wondering how different it is for you to work with a professional non-family member.
The weather – from what they are showing on the news down here, I definitely don’t envy y’all. It does seem like it’s setting up to be a doozie. While seeing some pretty snow would be nice, I’ll just miss it and stay down here where it is extremely rare to have it. This stretch of cold air will be the longest period we’ve had all winter. Thanks Mr. Winter for this treat now that my closet is filled with my spring clothes and just a couple pieces of winter clothing. The joke is on me!
    Good luck and stay safe!

    1. Hey Ginger, it is surprisingly easy to work with a professional photographer. I’ve worked with 4 in the past 3 weeks (LOL!) and each experience was very comfortable and fun. I actually really enjoy it, and it’s fun to get new ideas and see how they each work. Every one has been different, but all in a good way. That said, it gets expensive, so I’ll definitely be using Paul as much as possible. 🙂

  4. Love the blouse. It’s like a breath of fresh spring air. What is the color of the polish on your toes? It’s really pretty.

  5. The floral top looks adorable on you!! Batten down the hatches I live in South Jersey so we will be getting the same nor’easter … stay warm!

  6. You look great! Love the vibe for this outfit and the idea of paring it with Olive pants.. I could do that for work and still wear with jeans on the weekend. Thanks Jo-Lynne!! 🙂

  7. My first thought when I saw the very first picture was, “she’s glowing”. That color is lovely on you! A really adorable blouse. I’m thinking it would be a perfect choice for Easter. Bundle up and hang in there. March snow is the worst. When we lived in MN they called it heart attack snow because it so wet and heavy. YUCK! Hope spring finds you soon. 🙂

  8. I have to same the same thing, this floral top gives your beautiful skin a glowing look! I really have to find some white jeans this spring. Thank you for giving us so many price options. Have a wonderful day!

  9. Beautiful outfit ! I’m getting ready for the big storm here on Long Island. What size did you get in top?

  10. Love the floral and yes, I agree with others, pink is so pretty on you. I just got into florals last Spring and now I keep wanting to buy them. I love this top with all its feminine features. I feel too old(55 yrs. old) to wear the distressed jeans though. I do, however, have one pair of frayed hem from last Spring and love them. I wish they made the sandals in a lower wedge. I’m 5’3″ and could use the height, but just prefer 2-21/2″ heel. Great job. Hang in there on the snow. I’m done with snow, but the rains never end here in Oregon, so maybe wouldn’t mind snow instead. Sun looks awhile away. Grab your coffee and enjoy. 🙂

  11. I love this outfit! My closet is filled with 95% solids, a few striped pieces, and a few patterned dresses (mostly monochromatic). I really should check out some floral tops like this pretty one and break free!! Stay safe in that storm!

  12. Love the blouse. I’m wondering what size you ordered (maybe I missed that). Looks so spring”y” and feminine!

  13. I love that floral is back in. It adds such a feminine touch to any outfit, casual or dressy. This blouse is very pretty and you look lovely. I’m also jealous that you are getting snow! I know it sounds silly, but growing up near Buffalo, NY I was raised with plenty of snow. When we moved to Toledo, I had no idea how drab and wimpy winters would be. I really like at least one or two good snow storms a year and we don’t get anything! Ha, ha. Stay safe and warm! – Amy

    1. Yeah, I love a good snow, but this time of year, I’m over it. 🙂 Honestly, I think if blogging fashion wasn’t my job and I wasn’t already so entrenched in spring fashion, I wouldn’t mind even now, it’s still early March. But yeah. No thanks. LOL!

  14. This looks great on you. Definitely your color. It’s so soft and feminine and yet edgy with the distressed jeans.
    Love this look!

  15. Love the floral blouse and those sandals from last year are so cute. Also, you might be interested to know Rebecca Minkoff has a sale going on now through tomorrow on their website.

  16. I love florals, so I’m glad they’re back in style a bit. That looks darling on you! Love these picks.

  17. Hi,
I love the whole outfit. Pink looks great on you. What size are you wearing in the top? Enjoy the snow! We are supposed to get 6-12 on Long Island. So done with winter.

  18. Fantastic outfit!! You look fab in it! Great photos as well, looks like a cute place to visit..

I so want Olive jeans but also having trouble finding some!
