Color Crush: Forest Green

forest green fall fashion trend 2013

When I wore my forest green sweater this week, I was reminded how much I love that color. Then lo and behold, I was thumbing through the latest issue of InStyle Magazine only to find a whole 2-page feature on forest green. Evidently it’s a hot trend this season!

Forest green is perfect for this time of year. It looks great paired with browns and beiges for a subtle earthy vibe and  goes perfectly with burgundy and rust-orange tones for fall. Around the holidays I love to see evergreen in formalwear mixed with black, and forest green is always preppy-chic when paired with navy blue! Plus forest green is a great accent color when carried as a purse or worn as shoes.

You know that LOFT boyfriend cardigan that I have in mustard? Well, it comes in forest green. Take a look!

But I am MADLY in love with their Ribbed Yoke Drapey Sleeve Sweater. How ADORABLE is that!?

Let’s talk dresses. Take a look at these fabulous finds. Any one of these would be perfect for a dressy holiday office party or a holiday wedding.

You know me, though. My favorite way to incorporate a trendy color into my wardrobe is with a fabulous handbag. How AMAZING is this Michael Kors ‘Hamilton’ Saffiano Leather Satchel with this gray and black outfit???

*I DIE*

For a more budget friendly version, this Mondani Kiley Tote from Kohl’s is super cute for just $45.

Even shoes look great in forest green. You can’t go wrong with a classic Hunter rain boot.

But I think forest green pumps and ballet flats are equally cute.

Or these booties — technically they’re moss green, but that’s pretty foresty, right?!

And of course you know how I love my colored jeans!!

I perused Pinterest for a sec to get some outfit ideas for forest green jeans. (Okay, no one peruses Pinterest for a sec. It was more like an hour. But who’s counting? I’m pretty sure time spent on Pinterest doesn’t count.)

I’m LOVING the AE knit jeggings in green forest.

  1. Gorgeous!! The Michael Kors bag…. *swoon* And also the wrap dress you have in the collage. Love.
I love wearing green. I think it always gets a bad rap but I think deep greens like the Forest Green you are featuring are just gorgeous

  2. I love forrest green for fall and winter! I was just working on a post about my love of tangerine for next week, and I am so happy I popped over to see this post. Now I know I’m not the only person obsessing over a color for the season. Ha! That tote from Kohls is just fabulous and right in my budget. I just may have to purchase it.

  3. Stopping by from Fab Fridays Linkup! Love all the green! This reminds me that I have a pair of forest green tights that I should break out today!

  4. I have always loved forest green – my bridesmaid’s dresses were made in that color when I got married 19 years ago! Then it went away for awhile – but I am glad it is back! And I wanted to tell you, based on your blog, and another I follow, who both had the boyfriend sweater from Loft in mustard and raved about it, I bought one today! I don’t have any mustard in my wardrobe at all – so what colors can I pair it with for pants besides the obvious black?

    1. I just got a mustard sweater, too. I’ve paired it with burgundy and purple, planning to wear it with royal blue, too…think gemstone colors – deep, vibrant colors. Also would work with brown.
