Found: Flat Black OTK Boots

I’ve enjoyed my chestnut suede over-the-knee boots so much that I wanted to add a flat black pair to my wardrobe.

I had my eye on these Livi Faux Suede OTK Boots by Ivanka Trump (more sizes available at 6pm.com). I see them a lot on Instagram, and they are really cute on. I was also eyeing up the Orabela by Steve Madden. They have a low enough heel to be practical for everyday wear.

In my wanderings, I also happened across the Michael Kors Joanie.

These aren’t really over-the-knee; they come right to the middle of the knee. They’re also a more casual style than I was envisioning. But the more I looked at them, the more I liked them, and let’s face it, they’re much more practical than a suede boot for my lifestyle and the area of the country where I live.

I’m so glad I chose the Joanie. I think I’ve worn them 4 times already, and I’ve only had them for a week! The lug sole gives them a bit of street toughness, which I like, plus it’s not slick on wet surfaces. The stretch panels in the back are comfortable, they shape my calves without falling down, and the glossy leather makes them suitable for all kinds of weather. In fact, it was raining the first two days I wore them.

The first time I styled them, I wore them with this magenta sweater and black jeans. You may remember that I wasn’t sure about the neckline of the sweater the first time I showed it, but I really love how it works with this gold statement necklace from LeTote. The gold also picks up the gold from the zipper in my boots. By the way, this sweater has been reduced! It was on sale for $69, but now it’s down to $49!!!

My jeans are DL1961, but the Joe’s Flawless are similar (and on sale!) I added a grey crossbody bag with gold hardware for contrast.

Because I didn’t want my earrings to compete with the necklace, I just wore these studs. That’s mist in my hair — not dandruff. Ha!

I felt really cute and comfortable and put together in this outfit!

  1. what about those boots with a dress ? wasn’t sure since they are not as high on your knee as your other pair……

  2. Omg, I just bought the Sandstone RM hobo bag! I never did get any of the ballet/pink MK or RM bags because I wasn’t so sure about pink (or even the Ash tote). The Sandstone feels more like a ‘no brainer’. My dear husband might feel the same, but probably in a different way, lol.

  3. I really like your boots. I tried on a pair that hit me at the middle of the knee once, but the shape wasn’t right or something, it just looked like they were too short 🙁 And hopefully if anyone wanted any of those bags they got them already, it looks like they’re all sold out now!

  4. I did it! Bought the sandstone RM Moto– I have no light-colored bags and have been drooling over the black bag every time I “see” it on you. Also liked the black boots so much that I went to that site to check them out. Fortunately, they were sold out in my size. Haha. Thanks so much for sharing the Rebecca Minkoff bag sale. I LOVE nice bags and don’t own one of hers so I’m excited to see it in person. Speaking of bags, I’m curious as to how you cull your bag and shoe collection. I have some really nice bags I’ve bought or been gifted over the years that I don’t use very often for various reasons. But they’re such nice bags, I’m not sure what to do with them or how to decide what to keep.

    1. YAY! You will LOVE her bags. I think I have more of hers than any other designer. I’m obsessed with them.

I haven’t gotten rid of too many designer bags, but I have sold some on eBay over the years. I do pretty well with that, but lately I’ve been busy and lazy and I donated some.

  5. Hi Jolynne,
I love your boots! When I link to the Michael Kors site to the Joannie boots, they look a little different from yours. The ones you are wearing look to be smooth, polished leather, which is what I want. The ones on that it links to says Joannie, but the leather looks pebbled. Are yours smooth leather?
    Thank yiu

    1. Jackie, I just remembered your comment and went to look at the website. YOU ARE RIGHT! Those boots are slightly different than mine. Mine are very smooth and glossy, and they have the stretch panel in the back. The description of these MENTIONS the stretch panel, but they don’t picture it. You may want to call them (if you didn’t order yet) and inquire. I got mine at Nordstrom, and they’re sold out now.
