Fun Finds Under $100

Good morning! Today is The Day! I’ll be heading over to the mall shortly to shop the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

I have to admit, I’m feeling a little intimidated by the responsibility of it all! I know there are tons of bloggers out there also covering this sale, and I don’t want to just add to the noise. My goal is to give you guys useful information to help you shop the sale efficiently and successfully without overwhelming you.

I fear my tendency is to overwhelm with too much information, so I’m going to try to keep my recommendations highly curated and specific… but we’ll see how that goes.

If you missed it, be sure to read my Shopping Tips for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post from yesterday, and if you really want to do your homework, you can also read my #NSale Preview post from last week.

If you want a sneak peek of what’s in the store, follow along on my Insta Story because I’ll be posting some pictures this morning as I shop. I hope to limit my time in the dressing room this year (last year I was there for like 6 hours 😵), but I’ll put more up this afternoon after I get back home and start going through my pictures and preparing my post for tomorrow. I will also try to remember to share some of my favorites on my Facebook Page, for those who aren’t on Instagram.

If you’re on neither, you’ll have to wait for my blog post tomorrow, but that should go up right about the time the sale goes live at 3AM EST. The anniversary sale styles always appear at the top of the search results on the Nordstrom website, so I will be able to pre-write some of my post tonight with links to the general categories and brands of the products I want to recommend to you, so you can find them first thing.

It takes me a little while to get those product widgets together, and I can’t start on that until the products are live on Nordstrom’s website, but I’ll be working on those as fast as I can and updating my post throughout the morning with my product recommendations and sizing notes.

I also have a photo shoot scheduled with Alison later today to shoot at least one head-to-toe look from the #NSale. I’m going to try to put together a wear now-and-later type of outfit because I know no one is ready for full-on fall outfits yet, but usually Nordstrom does a good job in this sale of having a variety of styles, and some you can start wearing now!

For today’s post, I want to introduce you to Amy!

Amy has been helping me out behind the scenes on the blog for a while. She’s a mom about my age, so she gets the angst of trying to stay fashionable over 40. In fact, she’s been a blog reader for a long time.

She’s been doing a lot of my graphics, putting together my weekly newsletters with the week’s posts and sale roundup, linking to my daily blog posts on Facebook and Instagram, and other odds and ends that help make my life a little easier. We’re still figuring out what other tasks she can take off my plate, but I’m always the one to responding to you all and writing my posts.

I thought it might be fun for her to occasionally share some of her style picks with you, and today I asked her to share a little about herself by way of introduction, and then some fun finds under $100.

Without further adieu, here she is!

AMY’S FUN FINDS UNDER $100

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten

Hi everyone, I’m Amy and I’m so excited to be here! I have always been more of a fashion follower, but not the best at picking stuff out on my own. I’ve been following Jo-Lynne’s fashion style for quite some time, and she’s helped me to feel so much better about myself and helped me to create my own style. I’m pretty sure I’d spend my days in my PJ’s if it wasn’t for her wonderful fashion advice.

I live in Virginia with my husband of 23 years and our three kids. My oldest is 19 and starting college this fall (Jo-Lynne and I have been going through this at the same time — both our oldest boys are both starting college this fall), then I have a 17 year old daughter followed by my sweet 6 year old boy.

Today I wanted to share a few of my favorites finds under $100. I know we are all excited about the Nordstrom sale, but we are still pretty much in the middle of summer. These are a few items that I really love, and I hope you’ll like them, too!

Okay, so now I want to go try on that Madewell romper and that Loft wrap top. And that woven shopper bag already hopped into my cart. Oooops!

I hope you all have a great day, and don’t forget to follow my Insta Story to get a sneak peek at this year’s #NSale!

  1. I’m more excited about your house than shopping. HA. Guess cause I don’t need anything. I do have a question about shoes. I wear 8 1/2. Some shoes only come in whole sizes. 8 too short & 9 too wide. Usually no narrow available. Anyone else have this problem.

    1. Hello Mary, Yes. I have the exact same problem and my shoe size is the same as yours. Also I have a narrow heel, which makes it even harder to find shoes that fit properly. The one thing I’ve found is that different brands seem to vary in width and length. It seems I just have to try different styles and brands to get the best fit. Here in Canada, shoes sometimes come in European sizes, as well. Instead of size 8, it would be 38. Sometimes those fit differently too. 😊

    2. Hi Mary— same problem here. 7.5 narrow. So frustrating. So far only Marmis and Nordstrom have any shoes that are close to fashionable. Zappos some but sadly I tend to see the same unfashionable choices show up on these sites year after year. I just bought my first Birkenstock sandals. They come in narrow but only whole European sizes. Would love some more suggestions on places to look. Stuart Weitzman has some but not a good “ everyday” source.

  2. Hi Amy! Love the wrap top – might have to go check that out. 🙂

Have fun today Jo-Lynne – looking forward to tomorrow’s post! 🙂

  3. Welcome Amy! Fun finds!

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s post!! I have a short list of items I am looking to purchase.

Last year I WAY overdid it and returned about 75% of it a month later. #shopaholic

Some of my favorite denim and booties purchases were my best finds and have gotten tons of wear.

I have learned so much from you since last year’s sale – I plan to shop much smarter!

  4. Hi Amy and JoLynne,
A random question since you live in Virginia, Amy. I am planning a trip to DC in August for our family (2 sons in early 20’s and hubby). Any suggestions on where to stay or helpful tips? Or a helpful online resource to help plan? I have been looking but haven’t found anything super helpful. I did read Jolynne’s posts from several years back. We are traveling from WA state. Thanks!

  5. Welcome Amy… great finds:) have fun at the sale Jo-Lynne can’t wait to see your pics… House sounds like it’s really coming together can’t wait to see your final results . Our daughter is getting married  next year so I’m making my mental list of updates for our house now lol.. so much I want to update but we do have a wedding budget too😉 .. oh well baby steps
    Have a great day
    Karen

  6. Great picks Amy. Hey, Jo-Lynne you asked me to remind you to post link to your tues live if you forgot. :).

  7. Did you happen to look at the UGG Milana loafers while you were at Nordstrom today? Those have been on my radar since last fall but I could never find the color I wanted in my size. I was so excited to see them back again this year.  Would welcome your thoughts if you looked at them. Thx!

  8. Good morning shoppers! And nice to meet you Amy! What a great idea JoLynne to have an assistant. I’ve always been so impressed with the amount of info & work you put into your blog, it’s good to hear you have a helper now! I don’t shop the N-sale but if I did, I’d been super prepared thanks to you. Glad to hear things are coming together with the new home. Can’t wait to see some of the new additions. BTW, the paint & trim contrast, 👍. Today I’m taking our 9 year old granddaughter to a Kids Scrapbook Workshop. In this day of cell phones & iPads, parents have pictures galore of their kids. When the phones die or gets updated, there goes those memories & pictures. I’m trying to get mom & dad to print them out & get them in an album. I hate to see a whole generation of kids not have pictures to look at in albums the way we always did. Nothing fancy, just get them in something! Have a fun day shopping while we’ll be scrapping!
