Girls’ Night with Comfy Favorites from Zella

Happy Monday, friends! We’re in the home stretch, can you believe it?! Four more days till Christmas!

We spent most of the weekend here at home, baking and watching Christmas movies and trying to make the best out of sheltering in place. It was the perfect opportunity to get comfy and cozy in our new Zella loungewear.

We went to Nordstrom a couple weeks ago, and I let them each pick out a Zella outfit so they could join me in this post.

It’s so much fun to watch them becoming friends…. you may not know this, but they haven’t always gotten along very well. They are very different.

They still have their moments, but the best thing to come out of this crazy year of lockdowns and sheltering in place is the gift of seeing my daughters growing up and enjoying each other.

But shopping with them is definitely a study in contrasts.

R wears a lot of cozy sweatshirts and leggings, and she went straight to this tie dye sweatshirt dress… although we didn’t realize it was a dress at first!

She says it’s very soft and cozy on the inside, and she got so excited when we were taking these pictures and she realized it has pockets! This is the small because they didn’t have her usual XS in-store, but it actually looks just fine.

We paired it with the Zella Live-In high waisted leggings in the grey. R’s been wanting another pair of leggings, and she thought they grey would be fun for a change, as all of her others are black.

C generally prefers jeans to leggings, but she likes how these Zella high waist studio lite leggings fit and feel. They’re extremely lightweight and designed to keep you cool during studio and gym workouts.

She also picked out this relaxed high low sweatshirt in the ivory grey heather. It really suits her simple style. We love the seaming details, especially in the back.

This is the perfect top to throw on over a tank after a workout, but it’s also nice for hanging out around the house.

As for me, I chose this ink print crewneck sweatshirt. It’s a little more pattern than I typically go for, but I thought it was fun.

It has a similar cut to C’s, but I think I could have probably sized up for a more relaxed fit. (She is in the XS, and I’m in the S.)

And these pants, you guys… these are the pants I’ll be living in this winter.

I usually wear jeans during the day, but I love to change into leggings or joggers after dinner to hang out and watch TV with the family, and these are actually leggings made for lounging.

These are the Restore soft pocket lounge leggings, and they have a lined ribbed waistband and ankle cuffs for added comfort. Plus, they are ridiculously soft inside and out.

They also have pockets. I sized up to a medium in these, and I’m wearing them in the black.

Finally, we all have on the Zella low training socks. They come in a 3-pack, which worked out perfectly!

These actually stay put too. I’ve even worn them running, and they don’t slide off.

These pictures are clearly posed, but we really did enjoy baking and hanging out together this weekend.

Anyone wanna tell me how Paul and I ended up with these two blondies? Genetics are funny.

It’s getting late to order anything for delivery by Christmas, but if you have your eye on any of these Zella items and you have a Nordstrom store nearby, order online and do store pickup. You can do their contactless curbside, or just go in and pick it up if your store is open. It’s easy and usually very quick.

And if you aren’t already a Nordy Club member, be sure to sign up so you can start earning points toward Nordstrom Notes when you shop, and enjoy exclusive perks like members-only access to sales, offers, and events.

Cheers to the holiday week, starting NOW!!!  🥂

  1. First of all….your girls are beautiful.  Becca’s freckles are gorgeous and remind me of the two red head freckled boys I raised. Secondly, thanks for the encouragement of getting back on track and taking care of our body and sole.  I really needed to hear that! And yes, it’s tough to find the merry in this Christmas. My husband and I can’t be with our four boys and their families as I am preparing for a total knee replacement in January and I can’t risk getting exposed. We’ve been empty nesters for a long time and trying to find our way at this time in our life.  I will say that this pandemic has been an awaking as we have spent a LOT of time just the two of us.  Here’s to finding the blessing in everything.  Merry Christmas!

  2. SOLD!  I am going to order your outfit in a few moments.  I don’t care if it arrives after Christmas.  I really like Becca’s dress as a top!  I love the picture of your feet!  Most siblings have their moments, especially as they reach various stages of the teenage years.  The neighbor girl that turns 15 in Jan. does not consider herself to be a kid any more.  I cracked up internally, when she alluded to that.  If your girls are readers, I highly recommend Sarah Young’s book, Jesus Calling For Christmas.  I finished reading it again yesterday, and it added to my Christmas spirit.  Have a great day!

  3. And that’s why your my fav! Keeping it real and telling us pictures don’t tell the real story. Haha! On another note, I’m in the same place with my boys. Not sure if it was the forced “closeness” of 2020 or their ages but after many years of bickering, being sooo different and sibling (and athletic) rivalry, at ages 19 & 22 they’re friends- good friends even. Still very different but they get along well, do things together and have actual conversations. And boy, doesn’t it fill the mama’s heart with joy!?! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  4. You all look great – and the cookies look delicious! I can’t wait to check out the leggings you are wearing. As for daughters, I have 3 with very different personalities and they don’t get along so well. I only have one still at home, she is 17 years old. Sadly, the younger two don’t get along with the eldest – and I don’t know if that will ever change – long story. Nonetheless, I’m so glad you had the chance to spend some quality time with your girls and I’m sure they’re glad to have spent that time with you! Make it a great day!

  5. I have many beautiful memories of baking with my mom and I love that you and your daughters were able to do the same over the weekend.

  6. Awww..such sweet pictures! Not only are your girls’ coloring different from you, but your older one has incredible curls! (Did your husband used to have curly hair?) Her hair reminds me of Nicole Kidman – so pretty.
I also baked cookies all weekend. My you gr done helps with rolling out the dough and using the cookie cutters, but everything else is pretty much me alone. My older son washed his car during the actual making & baking process, but he said he’d “help try them out and make sure they tasted okay” 😜🤣 I gave my sons the job of delivering cookie plates to neighbors.
Yep- countdown to Christmas is on. I just found out my super small gathering is being changed to Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day due to some family logistics and several family members opting out due to Covid concerns. It’ll be weird not to have a family gathering on Christmas Day; it’ll be just my husband, my two sons and myself!
Thank you for sending me your link to shop the Paige website. I actually added 4 items to my cart and decided to wait to shop after Christmas. A friend of mine who works in retail told me that although current sales are good, she said after Christmas sales are expected to be even better than in year’s past as retailers are going to need to clear out fall and winter merchandise. (According to her, retail sales are down this year.)  She said her store starts stocking spring clothing in early February. So anyway, I WILL use your link on 11/26 😘❤️ Merry Christmas to my favorite blogger!

    1. Yes, the curls… Paul and I both have stick straight hair. But his mother has wavy hair, and my grandmother had curly hair.

I think your friend is probably right about sales — I expect it will be much like it was at the beginning of the pandemic, when stores had stuff marked like 60-70% off.

      Merry Christmas backatcha!

  7. I am still not receiving your emails😐.  Apparently, I missed something about taking care of yourself, and maybe your feet?  I checked my address book, and somehow, you were listed 3 times, so that’s not it.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I enjoyed the post, and it looks like you were all having a great time. You looked great, and it’s interesting how you all chose a different look. At Thanksgiving, we only had our 2 oldest grandchildren here, my granddaughters who are 15 and 16.  They couldn’t look more different. One has blue eyes and straight blonde hair, and the other dark brown, curly hair and brown eyes. They are sisters, but so different in personality and interests. I so much enjoyed them at this age. We made cookies and pies and had a wonderful time. When my daughter was their age, she didn’t want to be with me in the kitchen, but she would go in on her own and bake by herself. My granddaughters told me their mom regrets that behavior, but she’s never told me that. We are very close now. Relationships are always changing and evolving.

  8. Oh I’d like those lounge pants. So would you say they run small if you bought medium? I’m 5’3” and 120 lbs. I usually wear size 4 pant and jeans.

  9. Loved your post and your daughters are really so cute. Family dynamics – what can we say? The clothes are all lovely and look good on you fashionistas. I also like the way Savannah got in the pics. I am ordered out for now and finally getting to my returns. Items came in so late I ended up spending more on postage to mail them to family than if I had just done it that way to begin with. Hindsight. You warned us before Thanksgiving and I thought I did good. Have a very Merry Christmas and look forward to the recovery that we all hope is 2021!
