Happy 4th of July!

It was a soggy 4th of July, here in Philly, birthplace of our nation’s independence!  We started the day by going to a parade with Husband’s parents in his hometown.  The kids enjoyed the fire engines and all the kids on bikes and of course the candy the politicians were tossing at us.

After the parade, we went back to Gramps and Nana’s and had hoagies for lunch, ’cause nothing says "Happy Birthday, America" like an Italian sandwich.

Then tonight, if the weather holds, we are supposed to attend a neighborhood cookout and amateur fireworks display.  The sky looks rather ominous at the moment, but we’re holding onto a thread of hope.  At least the rain held off for the parade this morning.

I hope everyone’s enjoying their 4th of July celebrations!

  1. Love the red, white, and blue everyone is sporting. Very cute pics and very cute kiddos. Hope you get some fireworks tonight – shame to miss them on account of stupid clouds! Happy 4th!

  2. Looks like you had a great time at the parade! We managed to go out to lunch just when the parade was over so got into all of that traffic. Took us 20 minutes to get to the Rudder when it should have taken 5 but it was worth the wait. Yes, isn’t that a great picture of Grampa, he takes really good pictures. That’s funny you should mention doing a post on the marching cause I have been thinking of doing that too as I have lots of good pictures that Jonathan took of my Dad and Grampa. Great minds ya know! I can send you some of the pictures if you want.
