Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all my stateside friends!

We arrived at my parents’ house here in Virginia after a rather harrowing drive down I-81. If anyone knows this area, they know how dreadful that traffic can be. There are tons of tractor trailers, and the road is narrow and windy and hilly. I think I’d rather drive in 8-lane traffic on I-95 in Philly than that, but thankfully we made it here safely and without any major delays.

I was up and at ’em bright and early this morning, updating my Black Friday sale guide and getting ready to run the Drumstick Dash 5K here in Roanoke. I love starting my Thanksgiving Day with a 5K. I feel like I earn my mashed potatoes.

And little bit of trivia for you — the first 5K I ever ran was this Drumstick Dash, 5 or 6 years ago. That’s where I caught the bug and started running more races. I haven’t done as many in the past couple of years, so I’ve really been looking forward to this one.

My goal was to run it in under 30 minutes, and according to my Runkeeper, it was more like 30:30, but my splits were all under a 10 minute mile, so I ran it well. I just need to do more speed training and start running longer distances if I want to improve my time for the next one!

I hope you are all having a great day with family and friends. If you’re doing any shopping, be sure to check out my Guide to Black Friday Sales. I’ve added a few more and updated the ones that got better.

Also, as an aside, my Mango bucket bag is 30% off with code BLACK18!

With that, I’m off to enjoy the day with my family, but before I go, I just want to say how incredibly grateful I am for all of you. Who knew when I started this blog almost 13 years ago as a place to record our family happenings for friends far away, it would turn into this?!?

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
