Healthy Breakfast Smoothie Recipes

We all know that a nourishing breakfast is crucial to a healthy lifestyle, but I admit that I get tired of having eggs every morning. Since I’m trying not to eat grains, cereal and pancakes aren’t in my normal breakfast rotation, so having a variety of healthy breakfast smoothie recipes saves me from getting bored.

10 Healthy Breakfast Smoothie Recipes

I have to go easy on smoothies because they can contain a lot of sugar, but they’re a great way to get more nutrition into our diets. One of my personal favorites is a green smoothie with collards, kale, apples, and pears, and my son almost always has a chocolate banana smoothie before school. I like to add an egg to give him some protein.

I used a small blender to make our smoothies for years, and it worked okay, but I was always fighting with it to get all the pieces down into the blades and get them blended smooth enough for our liking. It wasn’t until I got my Ninja Blender that I started making smoothies regularly. It never ceases to amaze me how much easier cooking is when you have the right kitchen tools on hand.

Ninja XL Blender

The Ninja XL features 6 uniquely stacked Ninja blades that crush ice, whole fruits and vegetables in seconds. I don’t even have to cut up my fruits anymore. There are 3 speeds, plus a pulse function, which provide all the blending options you could possibly need; and the 72-ounce pitcher is BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Plus, I love the stainless steel finish. It looks so chic sitting on my kitchen counter.

Now that it’s getting nicer outside and my foot is finally healing, I’m taking this #MakeYourMove challenge from Kohl’s to the next level. Finding some new healthy breakfast smoothie recipes is just one more way I’m making my move towards a healthier, happier 2015.

  1. I LOVE my Ninja slow cooker – will have to check out the blender!!! Huge smoothie fans here – I have a small one-sized smoothie maker but we are using it all the time!

So I have a random stupid question – with the smoothie you make for D, the egg you add, is that cooked? Not-cooked? Never heard of putting an egg in a smoothie before!

  2. I LOVE smoothies – probably because I think my Ninja is a life-changer. I received one for Christmas about a year and a half ago and LIVE for it. Love all of the recipes you have here….will have to try them all. So many great options. I’ve never been a fan of adding chocolate, but love all the green – and the mango looks delicious.
