Hellooooooooooooooo!! Exactly 36 hours ago, we set out for Maine. The trip was grueling, although traveling with one was certainly a treat. Somehow we managed to take two wrong turns and several wild goose chases, and then we were treated to a massive traffic backup at the NH tolls. As a result, the 10 hour trip took 12 hours. Joy.
Through it all, my daughter was a dream, so I really can’t complain, but by the time we pulled into the drive to the lake house, I would have been happy not to see the inside of a car again for at least a week.
It was cloudy and chilly but I arrived to find my kids and my father in the lake, and my 2-year-old was anxious to join them, so I found her swimsuit in the rubble of the luggage and put it on her. They had a blast and seemed oblivious to the temperatures. Good thing they’re warm-blooded, that’s all I know.
Today we braved a torrential thunderstorm to go to lunch at a local restaurant, and then I came home and enjoyed a nice long nap with the sounds of raindrops beating down on the roof and the warmth of a two-year-old cuddled up against my back.
I just got online to see what’s going on in Internet-land, but our connection is painfully slow, which is probably a good thing. It rather discourages one from spending inordinate amounts of time surfing the Web.
I haven’t had any lobstah or clam chowdah yet, but that’s on my agenda for tomorrow. That and another nap. I’m all about having goals.
Yeah, one kid does sound like a dream 🙂
(if only temporarily)
Mmmmm lobstah sounds delish, actually so does a nap!!! Glad you survived the car journey!
Glad you made it there safely with minimal car angst!
Enjoy!
I love those goals. LOL
Glad you are having fun. 12 hours sucks.
I love it when kids cuddle up against me…esp during a thunderstorm. Enjoy your time away. It will be over before you know it…have fun.
Welcome Down East!!!!
I think your goals are perfect. Besides you don’t want to stretch yourself too far, too fast–you ARE on vacation after all. Enjoy!
Don’t be too ambitious, you hear? That agenda sounds a little overpacked.

Our day of driving to get to Kelowna took us 11 1/2 hours too! On winding mountain roads. Beautiful scenery but totally exhausting!
Oh, I love your goals. Sounds like the perfect list to me!
Lobstah and chowdah sound heavenly!
