How to Wear Block Heel Sandals for Fall

Hello, friends! TGIF! I’m so excited about the look I have for you today. I’m teaming up with Kate Spade to style these gorgeous Ilemi Heels and talk about how to wear block heel sandals for fall.

I knew the second I saw these sandals that they were made for this grid print shift dress that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last month.

The wide straps and block heel balance out the geometric print and heavy fabric of the dress, and the black suede is decidedly fall.

The dress itself is very comfortable and figure flattering. I love the geometric design and bold color palette. The sleeve length is perfect for transition season, and if you get chilly, you can always throw a leather jacket over your shoulders.

I’m wearing my regular size 8, for size reference.

The exposed zipper in the back is flirty and fun.

As for the shoes, I am in LOVE. They’re made in Italy with kid suede and a 3.5″ covered heel. The adjustable double buckle and block heel make them easy to walk in. I always struggle to walk in pumps without my heel slipping, so I’m loving this chunky sandal trend. It’s more delicate than a bootie but more substantial than a strappy sandal or stiletto.

These sandals will also be fabulous with skinny jeans or flares and a sassy top. I can’t wait to style them with a more casual look.

I wanted the shoes and the dress to be the star of the show, so I kept my jewelry minimal and carried a black clutch.

We had so much fun shooting this look. Now I just need somewhere to wear it!

By the way, lots of you have asked about how I curl my hair. My husband gave me this amazing T3 Curling Wand for my birthday, and I love it. I used the 1″ straight barrel for this look.

So who has fun plans for the weekend!?! Ours is pretty packed. Tonight we’ll be at the high school for the Marching Band Preview Night, where we get to see what our kids have been doing in band camp for the past few weeks. That’s always fun, and it starts to get me into the back to school frame of mind.

Then tomorrow night we’re planning to attend Chesapeake Night at our local swim club. They bring in tons of seafood, and we provide our own drinks and sides and desserts and just hang out. I think there’s even a DJ. I’ve never been before, but it sounds like fun, and we’re going with friends.

And of course, I’ll be trying to fit in a few photoshoots. The weekends are the easiest time to do that since my photographer (a.k.a. my husband) has a day job. I keep thinking I’ll get up super early and fix up so we can do pictures before he goes to work, but that never seems to happen. So for now, weekends it is!

Well, it’s Friday, so that means it’s time for my weekly fashion linkup! If you have a fashion blog, I’d love for you to join us. If you’re here for your weekly dose of style inspiration, you’ll find plenty of that here. Have a beautiful weekend!

  1. This looks amazing on you! Love the colors in that dress. Stunning.
By the way, the link in the email took me to yesterday’s post.

  2. Wear to church on Sunday! You look so good in a dress and cute shoes that I’m surprised you wear pants often to church.

    1. I’d be a little out of place in our church. We are very casual. I think it comes from worshipping in a school gymnasium, lol. Our worship is quite traditional, but our dress code is not. 🙂 However, I really should try to get more casual dresses into my closet for some variety. 🙂

  3. I love your outfit today! You look beautiful. Also, I know you are very photogenic, but your husband is a great photographer! Your outfit post pictures are so professional. Thanks for all you both do!

  4. You are totally rockin’ it with this outfit! I mean, really, you can just retire and rest on your laurels now. Just kidding! We need you to help us expand our horizons and reach for the stars, and come up with more cliches…
Have a nice day, and live long and prosper! TGIF!
