For this style collab, I’m going to share how I style pastels for spring.

How to Style Pastels for Spring

Pastel is a hot trend this spring, and I will admit, it’s not a color palette I generally gravitate towards. I think I look better in bold colors, but an icy blue or mint can be very flattering on girls with dark hair and lighter skin tones so this year I’m excited to incorporate some pastel into my wardrobe. First I’ll show you some outfit samples I put together on Polyvore with items that can be purchased currently. And then I’ll show you a few of my pastel outfits from last summer. I bought two new pairs of pastel jeans yesterday, but they are in transit so unfortunately I can’t show those just yet! But they will definitely be playing a big part in my weekly Daily Mom Style posts so stay tuned!!!!!

I put this outfit together for my post on Wearable Spring Fashion Trends a few weeks back. I love this outfit. It’s so ladylike and chic.

Hidden Button Blouse (LOFT) // Jil Sander Cuffed Trousers (similar) // Kate Spade Little Minka Satchel // Nude Platform Pump // Bobbi Brown New Pale Nail Polish // Ray Ban Rose Aviators // ALDO Madice Studs

Of course, I don’t have a lot of occasions to wear wide leg trousers and platform pumps. It might be slight overkill for the middle school car pickup line.

Here’s an outfit that might be a bit more appropriate for a work-at-home mom. Aged indigo denim is making a comeback, and it is perfect for pairing with pastels. I love these boyfriend jeans from LOFT paired with this lavender roll-neck sweater.

And here’s a more budget friendly version. Pair pastels with white for a crisp, classic look. In this outfit, I paired a casual mint-colored tee with white cropped pants from Kohl’s. The sandals are from Target, and they combine mint with a pale coral — always a fabulous combination.

Here’s an outfit I wore last spring, pairing pastel yellow with white. The turquoise necklace adds a bold color near my face, where I need it.

And I like this light coral paired with lighter denim for a casual look.

Here’s the coral top again with gray.

Finally, these mint shorts are great paired with a plain white tee. I like how crisp and classic this color combination is.

Are you feeling the pastels this spring? What’s your favorite combination?

  1. I am ready for spring but hate the pastels. I walked into Loft last weeknd and the salesgirl asked if she could help me. I said, “Yes, can you make me not look like an Easter egg?” Pale skin does not lend itself to this color palette.

  2. The pastels look is one of my favorites, but I don’t own many. I really like how you added the turquoise necklace to brighten up your face- it totally works!

  3. I love all of your looks! I am looking forward to adding pastels to my spring wardrobe. Could you tell me what shoes you are wearing in the outfit with the coral shirt and grey shorts? They look really pretty, but also comfortable/supportive and I have to have supportive shoes for my feet these days. Thanks!!

  4. I like that some of the pastels you included still aren’t extremely pale. I love the coral and mint and think I could wear those a lot more easily than the REALLY light pastels 🙂

  5. Yeah, that is what I had in my wardrobe. The new mint colored jeans I bought yesterday are very pale. I will be curious to see how I can work them into my existing wardrobe. I’ll be stalking Pinterest for ideas, I’m sure! 🙂

  6. I’m trying to “like” pastels. I don’t think mint looks good on me unless it is away from my face. Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Hey Jo-Lynne, I have to ask. Your sandals are so adorable, but are they comfortable to wear? I figure, with your foot problems, you would be very truthful. Because those are cute enough to go out and buy some, but comfort is an issue. I get blisters really easy, and I want to avoid that 🙂

    1. Which ones? The last ones – no way. They are horrible. LOL!!! They are also old and no longer available. The first ones, the brown, are comfortable if you don’t have foot issues. They were Frye, and I remember splurging on them a few summers ago. They have no support, but they are comfortable. The middle ones — the Orthaheels? Those are extremely comfortable. It does take some getting used to Orthaheels because they have a high arch, but once I got used to them, I’ve been in love ever since. I even have Orthaheel slippers I wear around the house! Great for people with foot problems.
