I’m Fried

I’ve been going gangbusters all week, and tonight I’m just fried.  I went in to a client’s blog this afternoon to make a few simple changes, and somehow messed up her entire template.  Strangely, the snaffoo was only visible in certain versions of Internet Explorer.  (This is why designers HATE I.E.)  (And yes, we do say hate.)  Thanks to a certain angel of mercy on Twitter, we were able to resolve the problem, and YES IT WAS MY FAULT.  Honestly, I only know enough to be dangerous.  I should stick to designing cute headers and let the pros do deal with the CSS.

  1. It must be something in the air. Everyone I’ve talked to today (yes, including me) is just all… Blah…

And I’m not sure that ‘hate’ is a strong enough word.

  2. I’m with ya! Maybe it was all the wind… all of our thoughts were being scattered around.

[btw, the link to Coke on my keyboard doesn’t work — it’s missing the “h” infront of https.]

  3. Knowing CSS is a good thing, so don’t give up. After blowing up blogs several time, I’ve found it’s best to make a backup copy (even if you copy and paste it into a .txt file). That way, if you mess things up, you can reload the original code.

  4. Julie, you are NOT the cause, lol. *I* was the cause! 🙂 I only made 3 changes, and the one I didn’t trouble shoot was the one that caused it. Lesson learned. Never assume. You know what they say about people who assume, right? 😉

  5. I met your “Angel of Mercy” about 2 years or so ago. She’s helped me on countless occasions! I don’t know what I’d do without her sometimes now lol. It’s just slightly annoying when she takes one look at something I’ve been stumped on for an hour and tells me what’s wrong with it 😉
