In Which I Give You A Sneak PeekInside My Head

Do you have one aspect of your personality that you detest, that you would change in an instant if you could?

There are lots of things I like about myself, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not writing this to be all down on myself.  I love that I tend to believe the best about people, even though this sometimes comes back to bite me in the butt.  I love that I make friends easily.  I love that I can usually find SOME thing to say to fill in a lull in conversation, even if it is inane.

But you wanna know what I hate about myself?  I hate how indecisive I am, how I over think things, and how overwhelmed I get when I have a decision to make, even an inconsequential one.  And what’s worse, not only do I over think when I’m obsessed with something, I over TALK.  So not only do I drive myself nuts with whatever is on my mind, I bring everyone around me to the nut house too.

Right now the obsession occupying my mind is The Outfit for The Event.  I KNOW that no one cares what I am wearing.  So why do I stress so much?  Maybe I just need to get over myself.

As for the event?  THIS is the exciting part.  Colleen from Classy Mommy and I have been invited to a VIP pre-screening party for a TV show in NYC.  With movie stars and everything. Yeah, we are pretty much beside ourselves with excitement.

And after reading her post this morning, it sounds like I’m not the only one who’s conflustered about what to wear.

I’ve heard the cry for pictures, but after consulting one of my favorite style gurus, I might take one more trip to the mall.  She has made some suggestions I want to check out.  So I’ll keep you posted.  I’m sure you’re biting your nails in anticipation.

  1. You are such the jetsetter these days! What an awesome invite. This is one event where it’s totally okay to stress over the outfit. You know, because your picture will be spread all across the tabloids along with the movie stars. Joan and Melissa might even critique your choice in attire.

Glad I could help you to put everything in perspective.

  2. Most people seem to think that being indecisive about what to wear is purely a “Woman thing”. I can attest, however, that it is not – I obsess about it whenever I have somewhere to go.

  3. AARRGGHH!! I totally get where you’re coming from! I do the same thing when I have an event–worry and fret over what to wear–and then when the event comes I look around and realize that I shouldn’t have worried. The most important thing is that you feel GREAT wearing whatever it is you’re wearing. Have fun shopping!

  4. My bro is getting married, and I’ve been obsessing all weekend about what my kids are wearing. 🙂 My hubby has had enough of it already and there are a couple of months to go!

Your event sounds so exciting! I hope you find the perfect outfit!

  5. Are the initials of the screening TC? If so, I’ll see you there (hopefully – I need to leave after the first hours – prior engagement). That reminds me, I haven’t figured out what I’m wearing yet either!

  6. I must forward your blog to my hubbie… than he’ll see I’m not the only one. I can never decide about anything. And I always stress about what to wear. I keep begging him to nominate me for What Not To Wear.

  7. Oh, I worry more about what I wear to events than any other detail. Like who will be there, what I’ll say, etc., etc. It’s all about the CLOTHES.

Please post pics when you decide.

And do tell more about the tv show. I’ve been out for a while, so I’m missing some details on my favorite bloggers!

  8. Um, hello???

I’M GOING TO BE IN NEW YORK ON WEDNESDAY TOO!

Not for the same thing you’re going for – but I’ll be there until Sunday….

  9. Ooooh! I TOTALLY know where you are going on Wednesday — and if I lived anywhere near NYC, I’d LOVE to meet you there!
At least your frustration is on what to wear, not that you can’t go. 🙁

One of the PR gals involved with it is hopefully going to ask one of the stars there (K) some questions for a site I write for under a pseudonym 😉 From all I read, she is a GREAT and grounded gal. I’ll look forward to seeing if you can confirm that on your blog afterward!

(You will look great WHATEVER you wear! Dark nails, Sister! 😉 )

  10. HAHAHAH I like to overcomplicate things too (apparently).

I sure had fun overcomplicating this outfit situation with you! Can’t to see the final results.

Shoes, are the shoes in yet? Hello….earth to shoes…come in shoes.

Oooohhh I’m going to go check out that wardrobe 911 blog so I can complicate my life further. 😀

  11. You are such an ENFP. (it takes one to know one)

I am the same way with decisions.

I once burst into tears in the middle of Home Depot trying to pick out a paint color. I am sure I was probably PMSing, but still.

I have decided that is what hell will be like. Not for me, of course, because I have been bought with the blood of the lamb (ohhhhh, precious is the flow….) But for, like other people.

    See, I ramble too.

Don’t be hatin. It’s cute, huh? SO CUTE.

    Oh, Jo-Lynne. It’s freaking midnight.
