Insta Recap #10

I woke up this morning to the pitter patter of rain on the roof. It seems so unfair to get rain in January. I hate rain any time of year, but this time of year it’s especially demoralizing. It’s 51 degrees right now so there’s no chance of snow. Just rain. Boo.

That said, it’s been a nice week with seasonably cold temperatures and I’ve been able to wear my chunky sweaters, coats, and boots! Here’s my weekly Instagram recap!

I got this top in my most recent LeTote. I think I’m going to have to purchase this one. I can’t bear to send it back. While long pendant necklaces are more trendy at the moment, I prefer a necklace that fills the neckline when it’s deeper like this. This Silpada Duomo Necklace is perfect. Then I just added black jeans and Converse. I wore this to a doctor appointment and just threw on my big puffer coat to stay warm.

I had a bit of a realization while wearing this. The neckline is so super flattering. I really need to be more mindful of that when purchasing new pieces. Because I have a short neck and broad shoulders, a deeper neckline is most flattering on me. It’s chilly in the winter months, but that’s what scarves are for, right!?

I wore this next outfit to the mall to meet a few friends for coffee and for some shopping therapy. I wanted to wear my OTK boots, but I knew I’d regret that if I ended up doing much shopping so I opted for my Frye riding boots.

Of course, I had to carry my new raspberry Tory Burch tote. I LOVE this bag. The color is just amazing. It had sold out, but there must have been a return because it’s back on the website and says “1 left.” It’s on sale for $332, down from $475. I did get mine for a steal on an after Christmas sale — I paid $235, but from what I understand, that kind of sale for Tory Burch is rare — like once a year. My point is, if you want it, and it’s in your budget, grab it for $332. This color pink is being discontinued. The new color is a deeper red called Red Agate — pretty too, but full price.

Tory Burch Britten Tote ON SALE for $332 (1 left!!) | D Yurman ring $495

I snapped these pictures the day my new black OTK boots came in the mail. I ordered two styles, trying to decide what I want. These are the ones I kept. I had a dressier suede in mind, but these fit really well and will be much more practical — both with our wet winter weather here in Pennsylvania, and also because they’re more casual and I tend to dress casual most of the time. These are the Michael Kors Joanie. They’re sold out at Nordstrom, but they have a few sizes left on MichaelKors.com, AND they’re on sale for $123 — that’s a pretty good price for leather!

I wore this one day to go shopping at Target. The blanket cardigan is sold out, unfortunately. I’m loving my new Moon & Lola pendant. It’s a great piece for casualwear. And that’s my favorite scoopneck tee that is only $18. Love this top for wearing under cardigans. The grey suede boots are super duper old.

I snapped this picture to share my Ivanka Trump Livi OTK boots when they came in the mail. I thought I liked them with the jeans, but when I tried them on with tights and a dress, they fell down on me. I guess this is why those Stuart Weitzman Lowlands are so popular. I hear they stay up and are super comfortable. I wouldn’t expect any less for Stuart Weitzman, but at $798, they are not in my budget at the moment. If they’re in your budget, grab yourself a pair because they’re stunning.

These Livi boots are priced right at $109, and they’ve restocked so they have most sizes. They get good reviews, I think my calves are just too puny to hold them up. If you like them, don’t rule them out. My friend Tammy loves hers. See her wearing them here.

I posted this to direct Instagram folks to my blog post and to share that this popular fringe scarf is back in stock. As of this morning, the oxblood is available once again! They seem to go fast, so grab it while you can.

For some reason this post got almost 250 likes on Instagram. I generally get between 100 and 150. I am honestly baffled because this is such a plain outfit, and a crappy mirror selfie at that! I guess at the end of the day, people really like the outfits they can easily replicate from their own closets. (And someone needs to clean her mirror!)

I snapped this top-down selfie yesterday morning at church after I arrived at our ladies’ bible study. I’ve been wanting to try my red quilted vest over my denim shirt. Both pieces are on super duper sales, but sizes are limited. I first had the outfit on with black jeans, but I changed to dark blue denim, for a denim-on-denim look. It worked, but I ended up changing into a turtleneck sweater when I got home because I was so chilly. I know, I’m a wimp. I also wore my new Michael Kors OTK boots.

Finally, I posted this last night — it’s from a photo shoot we did early in the morning before my bible study. The light in the early morning hours is best (and just before dusk) so we try to take advantage of that a few times a week. We were able to bang out three sets out outfit pictures yesterday morning. WOOT!!!

That Geo Block Print Scarf is only $24. I love the color palette, and it’s super cozy. I wanted to stay wrapped up in it all day. My boots are no longer available, but these are similar (yes, and pricey; I got mine on sale so I didn’t pay nearly that much!) I wore my cable turtleneck in latte, but it almost blended in too much with the scarf. Next time I might try my oatmeal crewneck sweater (shown above with the red fringe scarf) for more contrast. The tassel necklace has been discontinued, unfortunately, and of course that’s my pink bag again! I didn’t realize it was going to be so vibrant against the muted colors in the outfit. I would probably have chosen something else if I’d realized, but I guess it works.

  1. I’m sure you’ve probably told us before, but I don’t remember. What size is your denim shirt? Medium? They only have an xs left in regular length, but they have more sizes in petite which works for me sometimes. I might try it!

  2. Loved all those looks. I see why black top and leopard flats outfit was so popular, it’s easy yet still totally put together. I finally ordered the chambray ($22!!) and scoop neck tops, and they should top off my purchases for awhile. Let’s hope anyway!! 😉

  3. I am thinking of ordering the converse sneakers. Are you happy with the white? I was debating on color. Is the fit true to size and the reviews say.

  4. I really like them all! I think the baseball T is my favorite, I work from home and need tops that are cute but super comfy. i know you got it from LeTote but can you tell me the brand? Also, what size are you wearing in the pic. Wow! Lots of questions, Thanks, Holly

    1. It’s from Gentle Fawn, and it’s called Rookie Tee. I cannot find it online. I am guessing they buy discontinued products. I would buy it but it does already show some pilling. It’s reduced from the original retail, but still pricey for used clothing. I try NOT to purchase stuff for that reason, but this one might have to be an exception. 🙂

  5. I love the black sweater , blue jeans, and leopard flats. Very stylish and reasonably priced. I also have the red vest. I never thought of wearing it with my chambray shirt Great idea!! Love this post you did a wonderful job. I am shopping my closet today…printing off your pictures and hanging them in a zip lock bag on my hangers… that way when I go to wear the red vest or etc. I have my options in front of me 🙂

  6. I love all your pics this week! Everything looks great on you! I am still wanting that pink bag – but just read this posting so it seems to be gone already. 🙁

    1. yes, someone snatched it right up! 🙂 I will keep an eye out and let y’all know if I see it anywhere. Also, you can check eBay, although I don’t know if they’re all legit or not.

      1. I ended up calling around to a few stores to see if anyone had it. I scored last one from Chicago store! It should arrive on Wednesday. Hope I love it as much as you! Looks so pretty in the pics but is a larger bag than what I normally carry. Hopefully I like it!

        1. WOW! Lucky you! Nice work. I think you’ll like it. It isn’t as big as it appears – at least, it doesn’t hold as much as I thought it would. In fact, I had to take out some of the normal stuff I like to carry. I think it’s the big logo on the front. It doesn’t allow the bag to bend at all, so if you stuff it, you can’t snap it. I really like the size. It’s a nice change from my big totes, but it holds my full size wallet, unlike my smaller crossbodies. 🙂

  7. I’m loving your initial pendant necklace! It’s challenging to find jewelry that isn’t too glitzy for everyday. That piece is perfect. It’s going on my wish list.
Nordstrom’s also has that necklace in silver. That might be my first choice, but they’re both pretty. https://bit.ly/1RilO6w
