Insta Recap #9

instarecap

It’s Sunday morning, so once again, I’m reflecting on my week and sharing the highlights in Instagram captures. This has been a week of surprises. We were supposed to be in Maine, but we ended up here at home with a few extra days to fill. It turned into quite a productive week! We’ve pretty much cleared out the house of all unwanted clutter. There are still spaces we need to work on (ahem… the attic… ahem…) but our living spaces are so much nicer now. We could probably do more, but I’m pleased for the time being.

This is what I wore last Sunday to church — Halogen Crewneck Lightweight Cashmere Sweater with my lined skinny pants and wedge boots. I like this modern take on a classic crewneck sweater. The side-split hem is current, and the slim fit is flattering. It comes in 13 colors and is currently on sale for $69.

I took this picture of what was going to be my travel outfit if we’d actually left for Maine on Tuesday — plaid scarfpink turtleneck, DL1961 Emma skinnies, similar riding boots. I also wore my black quilted vest over top.

And here I am, all dressed up with nowhere to go! It’s all good, though. We accomplished so much around the house this week, I can’t be too grumpy about missing our trip.

I took this top-down selfie before I ran out to do some errands. The necklace and the pink tote are both new. I had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket, so I ordered them. I’ve been wanting a large disc necklace for casual wear, and when I saw this Dalton Pendant by Moon and Lola, I knew it would be perfect. My bag retails for $475 (OUCH!!) but it was on sale for $333 and then an additional 30% off, so I got it for $233. YAY ME! It’s a bag I know I’ll enjoy for a long time. The ring was a Christmas gift from my husband. Unfortunately, the marled cardigan and suede boots are no longer available.

I took this shot in my bedroom before a trip to the mall with my daughter on New Year’s Eve day. Of course, I matched my outfit to my new bag. Most pieces of this outfit are old, but I’m wearing my TOMS Leila Booties.

I’ve never been able to get good mirror seflies in my bedroom because we had a monstrosity of a dresser taking up space behind my full-length mirror. With our recent purge sesh, we were able to get rid of the dresser entirely, which has opened up the room SO much. And tomorrow, the red walls will be covered with a light neutral beige, so I expect to be snapping a lot more of these mirror selfies in the future. It’s a much better way to see my daily outfits than the top-down version, so I’m super psyched about this.

When we were at the mall, I picked up this cute little plaque at Francesca’s for my new minimalist closet. I’ve never had room to decorate my closet before. So fun!

That night, I posted my “Best Nine” on Instagram. This image was generated with an app that determines your nine most popular posts by how many “likes” they received. I love that Philippians 2:10 was among my nine most popular Instagram posts.

Finally, I took this picture yesterday before heading out to the mall (yes, again!) This time I took my younger daughter with me. It was nice to get a day with each of them. I got new foundation when I was at the mall on Thursday, and I’m really pleased with it. I also got new lipstick and blush, but they are being mailed to me since they were out of stock. I’ll share all the details in a future blog post!

I wore my Cambridge Cable Turtleneck (Hthr Latte) with my black down vest and black jeans (similar) and Kiki Ankle Boots that were gifted from The Walking Company. Of course I carried my new bag and wore my new Dalton Pendant. I’ve been building every outfit around this bag since I got it. LOL!!

Speaking of which, this is what I’m wearing to church today — grey turtleneck tunic sweater with my pink and orange plaid scarf, black jeans (similar), and black wedge boots (similar.) AND OF COURSE… my new pink tote!! (Shocker!!)

After church, we’ll be taking down our 2nd Christmas tree and tidying up so the painters can tackle my bedroom tomorrow. I’m so excited to see it come together. I hope you have a great Sunday!

  1. That really is a great bag! Love the bold pink and especially the style of it. My big Christmas money splurge was the Frye boots I’ve been drooling over since your Fall series. I haven’t gotten them in yet, but I’m anxious to see if they’ll work. This will make the 5th pair I’ve ordered trying to find the right ones, lol.

  2. Guess I agree with your recap: your “gold cardigan” picture was my favorite all year…second only to Philippians 2:10.! FYI….I only subscribe via email to 2 bloggers: you and Cyndi Spivey. Have a blessed 2016!

  3. Hope to see pictures of your master bedroom when it is finished. Ours has been the same for over a decade and needs some updating but I have no vision. Love your sense of style!

  4. I love the outfit, especially the hot pink bag! I can’t wait to start getting my closet “in order!” My husband said he needs to do the same thing in his closet. Have a blessed Sunday!

  5. Ok, where did you hide the rest of your footwear?! Lol
It feels great to purge our homes of all that extra, unneeded, unused stuff. I went through my husbands drawers and closet yesterday. It was like pulling teeth to get him to say “yay “or “nay”. Grrr. Anyhow, I now have a bag of garbage, a bag to donate and a less crowded closet / drawers. Ahhhh

  6. Did you change something in the way you’re posting the pictures in the blog? They used to all show in my feed reader and now I can only see one per post without clicking over to the site.

  7. I would love to know more about your organization projects and see any pictures. I’m especially interested in the closets, bedrooms, and baths. I need some motivation to get my messy room in order.
