Insta Recap: Disney Edition

Good Sunday morning! I didn’t get a chance to do an Insta Recap last week because I was in Disney World and the swimming pool was beckoning. I’m sure you understand! This morning, as I gaze out my window at this cold, grey morning, I can hardly believe I was sitting by the pool in a bathing suit just a week ago.

This was the view from my room. I KNOW. I was traveling with extended family, so we needed a big space. We had a 3-bedroom villa that’s part of the Disney Vacation Club, and it was spectacular.

I’m going to skip over my outfit pictures from Disney because I posted them all in my What I Wore to Disney World post. Feel free to check it out if you missed it.

After we got into our suite and got settled, we hopped on the monorail for a quick jaunt over to the Magic Kingdom, where I got this phenomenal shot of the castle. It never gets old.

We had tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which we’ve done once before. I love all the pomp and circumstance, the parades, the fireworks, the decorations. Unfortunately so do a lot of other people, and it was quite crowded. Also, I wouldn’t recommend doing a big event like this the night you arrive. We were pretty tired from traveling all day, and the kids didn’t last through the fireworks, which was a bummer because that’s my favorite part. Still, we enjoyed the parade, and we were able to see the fireworks from our deck when we got back to our room.

The next day, we went back to the Magic Kingdom. I wasted no time hunting down the new Starbucks on Main Street, where I took this picture. Starbucks is a welcome addition to Disney World, if you ask me!!!

That night on our way out of the park, I took this picture of my girls with the Christmas tree in the background. I love that tree. Disney at Christmastime really is special. But also mobbed. If we ever go back, I think we’ll pick a less popular time of year.

The next day, I got a brief respite by the pool. Of course I wasted no time ordering my favorite warm weather cocktail. It wasn’t as good as the mojitos that I make, but it did in a pinch.

We spent our last day at Epcot, and I got this amazing shot while we were leaving the park.

We took this photo the morning we returned home. We were waiting for the Magic Express to arrive to take us to the airport, so the girls climbed up in this carriage for one last picture. Yes, they wore those mouse ears the entire trip!

Then it was back to life, back to reality. I posted this outfit that was featured on the blog that day.

My first day back at home was a grace day. That means I gave myself permission to stay in my jammies till noon, and I didn’t put on makeup or fix my hair or anything. Some days, it just feels good to be a bum!

I spent the day catching up on emails and planning some outfits for the winter outfit series that is in full swing. This is one that I cannot WAIT to wear. I finally took the plunge and got over-the-knee boots (known from here on out as OTK boots.) I love them. I wasn’t sure that I could pull them off, but I’m definitely a fan now.

Finally, I posted this today. It came in my She Reads Truth devotion. This is an easy verse to quote in the good times, but it is just as true in the bad times. Whichever season you’re experiencing at the moment, good or bad, I hope it encourages you today.

Psalm 118:1

And that’s a wrap!

  1. While I’m not a fan of OTK boots, I love the color and heel of yours and I adore both outfits that featured those boots! I especially love that turtleneck sweater. Such a classic in that color.

  2. I just love your easy going sense of style! I’ve become a big copycat! Unfortunately I don’t have the figure you do that can carry off the legging and tunic look, I’m a bit too short and have that tummy & heavier thigh look going on. But–I am able to make very similar outfits shopping in the stores that are more suited to my size. So keep those easy going outfit ideas coming. I’m still dying to get a black vest & the pink sweater, but I must have at least 8 other colors. Can’t believe I don’t have black though! But Christmas is coming!!…..

    1. Oops! Forgot to say, the pictures are beautiful! Disney is truly a magical place! Glad to hear you were able to escape from PA for a bit & enjoy Florida! Winter is a coming all too soon. As a Northeast PA Pocono’s gal, we know all too well what it can be like, so Florida is a perfect remedy!

  3. i love Disney! Thanks for sharing your pictures. The least busiest time we’ve found is near the end of Feb. The weather is a little cool, around 70-72 daytime high, and not too cold at night.
If I wasn’t petite in height, I would try OTK boots. Love all your casual looks!!

  4. JoLynne, while I enjoy your blog and your style, I find the cost of the clothes to be so expensive (one of your total looks is over 600 dollars). I know you style things to inspire us to create and try our own looks. I do find your looks inspiring. I appreciate you posting the links to the clothes you wear and the prices you are now posting. All that said, I can’t afford your looks. It would be nice if maybe once a month you featured something like a “get this look for under $100″ or” 10 basic wardrobe pieces under $25 each”. Of course I understand this is your blog and you can post what you want, but just wanted to share a little bit of a different perspective to what would be nice to see once in a while. Thank you and I will keep reading regardless of any changes you choose to add or not. Have a great Sunday.

    1. Hi Cheryl, I appreciate the feedback. I am aware that sometimes the outfits do get really pricey, so that’s why I’ve tried offering some budget options, but I love the idea of a “get this look for less” type of post. Thanks so much for your ideas!
