Instagram Roundup 11.04.17

Hey guys! I hope you’re having a good weekend. I’ve got an Instagram Roundup for you today.

This post kind of snuck up on me and I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare it so I’m going to be brief. (Ha! we’ll see how that goes…) I didn’t try to put things in order so it’s going to be kind of random, but anyway. Here goes… a roundup of my Instagram posts from the past few weeks! Some of these pictures you may have seen on the blog and others are outfits I wore in my daily life.

ALSO!!! Don’t miss my guide to the Nordstrom Fall Sale. It’s really good this year.

Instagram Roundup 11.04.17

I snapped this picture on our way out to a photo shoot one Saturday morning. I love this cowl neck tunic so much that I’m considering purchasing it in another color. It’s got a great fit, and the quality is really nice. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

I’m including this because it’s the only picture I have of what I wore to The Phantom of the Opera this week.

sweater // jeans (option) // shoes c/o // bag

I don’t have links to any of theses exact pieces but the shoes and bag. This graphic tee is from White House Black Market last year, and the chenille cardigan was a Nordstrom purchase. I wore them with grey jeans and my black leather skate sneakers, which are on major sale right now.

I wore this outfit last Saturday before it got too warm for the scarf. These booties are on sale, and I linked to similar jeans that are also on sale since these aren’t and they’re the same a fit (different washes.) I also linked to a utility jacket that’s on a really good sale. The scarf appears to be sold out in this color, tho.

scarf // tee // similar jacket (option) // jeans (similar on sale) // booties (33% off)

These Ecco booties are such a great classic style and they’re incredibly comfortable. Best of all, they’re 20% off with code FALL17.

I wore this to church last week when it was raining. These boots are waterproof (and on sale!)

tunic // leggings (but I just ordered these to have a darker, thicker pair) // boots (40% off) // bag // earrings

These AG legging ankle jeans from the #NSale are on sale again. These are seriously so good. They run about a half size bigger than my other AG legging ankle jeans, and I’m kind of in between sizes in general so I went up in this pair.

LOVE the fall hues in this outfit. More of this look in THIS POST.

I wore this on Halloween to volunteer at my kids’ school. I like the combo of the rust orange with olive green jeans. Also, the tee is beige, not white.

SALE ALERT >> Old Navy Friends & Family starts today! Sign up for emails to get your 50% off code.

I posted this outfit to the blog last week. More in THIS POST.

Another variation on my go-to outfit this fall. I’m loving the utility jacket with a scarf.

scarf // similar sweater // similar jacket (option) // jeans (sale option; budget option) // booties (33% off)

And again, in case you missed it, my favorite fall booties are on sale. LOL!!!

booties // jeans c/o

I wore this to meet friends for lunch. We had been having some cooler fall temperatures and then suddenly it got warm again, so I broke out my perforated peep-toe booties. This 3/4 length sleeve cardigan is great for this in between weather. (I got it when it was 40% off during the #NSale back in July. I’m surprised they haven’t marked it down again for the fall sale, but I’ll keep an eye on it for you! I wouldn’t recommend paying full price unless you’re dying to wear it right. now.)

Also, these jeans are on sale, and they’re not my usual AG legging ankle jeans. They’re AG middi jeans, which means they have a higher rise — otherwise they’re the same fit as the legging ankle jeans. If you don’t like the low rise AG jeans, you should definitely try these. They’re awesome. (Okay, so much for keeping this post brief… #iamhopeless)

cardigan // cami // jeans // booties // bag // necklace // Alex and Ani bangles

I posted this fun, casual outfit to the blog this week. More in THIS POST.

tee // jeans c/o (option) // similar cardigan // bag // earrings ($10!!!)

This is what I wore yesterday. It was warm again, and I just love this combination of grey and plum. Unfortunately this jacket is old and no longer available, but it’s my favorite utility jacket and it’s by Lucky Brand. It’s very lightweight so not as bulky as some and I like the collarless style.

I wore this one day working from home. This is a good example of how I fight the frump at home. I didn’t bother with hair or makeup, but I pulled on my comfiest jeans, a super soft cozy sweater, and slip-on sneakers. I also added a necklace and bracelet for good measure. I could have just as easily pulled on sweatpants and a sweatshirt and slippers, but I felt much better this way. These sneakers are cute and comfy and come in tons of colors. I thought the pale pink was fun for a change, and I wear a lot of grey and denim so I knew I’d have plenty of outfits to go with them. They’re true to size, or if in between, go with your larger size.

sweater // jeans // sneakers ($47) // necklace

This is another super casual at-home outfit. I don’t remember if I went anywhere that day or not. Unfortunately, this top is sold out.

jeans (sale option; budget option) // flats (so comfy!) // necklace // Alex and Ani bangles

These L.K. Bennett pumps were sent to me by Zappos for a campaign I did with them last month. You can see more of this look in THIS POST.

I snapped this picture on my way out the door to shoot with Alison. You’ll probably recognize this outfit from my Fall Hues post.

sweater // jeans (sale option; budget option) // booties c/o Ecco Shoes // scarf // sunnies c/o Maui Jim

I put this on for a day of appointments and errands. I don’t really care for the combination of green and camel, though. Next time I’ll wear my black vest instead.

vest // sweater // jeans (similar on sale) // shoes // similar bag // necklace

This cashmere infinity scarf is one of my favorites. I wore it all the time last winter. I like that it can be a practical cold weather scarf that you throw on with your coat, but it also makes a great outfit accessory. It’s definitely a splurge, but it is currently 25% off and available in a bunch of great colors. This would make a fabulous holiday gift for someone special on your list. Other than that, everything in this outfit is old.

grey scarf // black moto jacket // burgundy skinnies //  black OTK boots // black tee // black bag // faux pearl studs

Finally, this is a casual outfit I wore around the house, maybe to a doctor appointment or something. I can’t remember. I actually wore the sweater and jeans again last night to go out to dinner and then to the high school football game, but with my black skate sneakers instead of the ballet flats.

sweater // jeans (sale option; budget option) // shoes // bag // nails

Well, that’s a wrap! I may or may not have time for a Coffee Talk post in the morning. If not, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Hi Jolynne,
I’ve noticed that you tend to tuck your jeans into your booties. I’ve read recommendations that to avoid that look buy a petite size so that the length is more like an ankle inseam. Have you ever tried this? I’m wondering how it would effect the overall fit.

    1. I don’t usually tuck my jeans. (I did with that Ecco pair, but it didn’t work well b/c they got bunchy.) Most of my jeans/bootie combinations work out so the jeans meet the top of the booties and sort of fall in or do a half-in/half-out sorta thing. I generally like them that way, but sometimes I want to wear booties with a higher shaft, and then it gets to be a conundrum – do I tuck? do I cuff? do I try to let them come over the top of the booties?

Tucking can look good if the top of the boot is big enough that the pants sit inside without bunching. But other boots have a narrow shaft that makes tucking not work very well. In that case, a cropped jean can be a good option, but I only have one pair. (I don’t buy petites, I don’t know how that would work as far as the rise goes. I always buy jeans based on inseam and rise measurements.)

The reason I don’t buy more cropped jeans is that I prefer the ankle length with other shoes — slides, ballet flats, pumps, loafers all look better with the ankle length, in my opinion. So I buy most of my jeans that length b/c they’re the most versatile.

I could do a whole post on matching jeans and booties. There are so many factors, it’s hard to make general “rules” because almost every jeans/bootie combo works together a little differently, and sometimes it just comes down to personal preference.

  2. Another good post Jo-Lynne!  I know the time with your mom will fly by.  I love seeing all of the different booties and shoes, even if I can’t wear them.  My focus will have to be on the rest of the outfit, so my feet aren’t really noticed.
    Be blessed!

  3. Thank you, Jolynne! Not only are the outfits great, as I am loving these beautiful fall colors, but in addition your makeup is perfect. You look beautifu! Enjoy your time with your mom and have a great time at the concert! Ah, to be in the 80’s again, even if just for the concert! Please post what you wore!8

  4. The tan 3/4 length cardigan from Nordstrom links to the cami at WHBM.
I love your roundups!  So many great ideas. I like to pin them for future reference.  ????

  5. Love these Instagram roundups! I finally got an Instagram account last week so I have been following you, but having all the looks in one post is so great.
Have fun with your mom. I am excited to see some of your purchases in future posts.
P.S. love the Phantom of the Opera pic…

  6. Always enjoy these, Jo-Lynne because I can’t always keep up with all of your wonderful posts and I don’t have a good smartphone to frequent IG. I love that outfit with the black moto jacket…my fave, but I also like the outfit with the striped sweater. You also have some very pretty scarves. Hope you are having a good weekend. – Amy

  7. My comment is not directly related to today’s post but a questions about a former post. This Fall you mentioned in a post a very, very comfortable bootie that was good for all day walking. I can’t find the post and it was not one I saved! I am in need of a comfortable bootie for a trip to New York.

  8. I’d love to see a post on matching jean hem lines with booties. I’m struggling with my jeans that are tight at the ankles.

  9. Do the white bottoms of those type of sport shoes get really black and dirty?   I’m worried they will look terrible quickly?
