HUGE Instagram Roundup

Good morning! Happy Wednesday! I decided it’s time to tackle an Instagram Roundup. I usually try to do these once a week, but it has been a month since my last one so I have a ton of looks to share with you.

I’m going to assume you hang on my every word and never miss a post (what!?! you don’t???) and I’m only going to share my selfies and daily outfits because the rest of my Instagram posts are already on the blog. Plus I did a recap of our 25 Days of Winter Fashion on Saturday, so if you missed any, you can check that out.

If you don’t want to miss anything, be sure to sign up for my daily emails. They’re fun, I promise! I actually personalize them a bit and share what I’m up to and some personal anecdotes in those emails. And of course, you can follow me on Instagram to see my daily outfits and sneak peeks of what’s to come on the blog.

Alrighty, then. Let’s get this party started! These outfits are presented in no particular order. I usually try to make them chronological, but ain’t nobody got time for that this close to Christmas!

Also, speaking of Christmas, I’m going through and making on the items that would make nice gift ideas that can still get here in time for Christmas, so if you’re still looking for ideas, make sure to read all the details under each picture.

Instagram Roundup 12.21.16

I’m glad I kept this keyhole sweater. I wore it to church last week and it stretched out some as I wore it. I opted for scuba skinny pants rather than coated denim for church, and I felt très chic! It’s still a TAD short for pants, but it should be the perfect with a pencil skirt, so I’m on the lookout for one to pair with it.

keyhole sweater (size small) // LOFT scuba skinnies (so flattering! 40% off with code FESTIVE40) // lace-up d’orsay pumps // teal crossbody (33% off! I love having this color handbag; it pairs so well with pinks and burgundies) // tribal earrings // watch // bracelets c/o Phillip Gavriel

I wear some variation of this outfit probably 5 days a week — sweater, skinnies, ballet flats, done! Add a few classic accessories and I’m good to go. So easy, but classy and put-together.

v-neck cashmere sweater in grey multi donegal (I’m wearing the small; 49% off!) // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // similar pink suede flats (mine sold out but these are same color and brand AND 30% off!) // Stella & Dot Celestial Choker and The Wishing Necklace

Here’s another view. You can see the detail in the sweater a bit better on this one. It has flecks of pink and green throughout — thus the bright pink shoes! I love this sweater. I picked it up over Black Friday weekend at Bloomingdales. It’s cashmere and feels so luxe, it’s 49% off, and if you order by noon today, you can still get it delivered by Christmas Eve. <– great gift idea!

This next outfit is what I ended up wearing to the ladies’ Christmas Tea with my church. My white jeans were in the wash so I couldn’t wear the pale pink cardigan outfit I had in mind for this event. I wanted to wear something other than the predictable red and green, so I thought this embellished ivory cowl neck sweater, dark jeans, and pink suede pumps was festive but different. The sweater is a few years old; it’s from White House Black Market. They always have a great selection of festive sweaters this time of year.

And this is what I wore to the tree farm. Again, not the outfit I was planning to wear, but it turned out to be super cold and windy the day we got our tree, and I needed something I could put a coat over.

similar black turtlenecks // DL1961 Emma skinnies // red Hunters // red cashmere scarf (50% off AND you can still get Christmas delivery) <– great gift idea!

A simple outfit for working from home… my uniform again! I do take the time to accessorize and put on shoes mostly every day. It makes me feel better, I think I’m more productive, and when/if I do need to run an errand or shuttle a child somewhere, I’m ready to go.

Gap sweater // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // grey ballet flats // tribal necklace // kate spade glitter studs // Be Merry doormat is from Target

I’m definitely getting my money’s worth out of this grey sweater. Ha! I dressed it up with black jeans and pumps for my daughter’s Christmas Extravaganza at a local playhouse. The pink bag is a nice pop of color and works well with the pink flecks in the sweater.

black jeans (similar for less) // v-neck sweater in grey multi donegal // similar pumps // pink bag (old)

Every time I wear this sweater, my husband just rolls his eyes. I know it’s kind of silly, but I love it. I definitely like it better paired with distressed jeans than with the skirt I styled it with the first time. It is also back in stock in 3 sizes!

reindeer sweater (40% off with code FESTIVE40) // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // similar burgundy flats – Tango Red Suede

I posted this when my favorite eye shadow palette went 50% off. These make great gifts, and when you can find them on sale, even better!

Did I mention this is my daily uniform??? *insert monkey emoticon with hands over her eyes*

I’m realizing that without my blog post looks interspersed, these looks are getting super repetitive. Sorry about that! I really should get out of this rut.

similar black turtlenecks // grey distressed jeans (similar for less) // similar burgundy flats // similar charm necklace

Yep, another variation on the uniform. I don’t love this choker wrap necklace so much with this outfit. I thought it looked good and helped anchor the outfit but I think I need color near my face or something. I am also irritated with how this sweater wrinkles. What is up with that? Did sweaters always wrinkle, or are they just making them cheaper these days?

camel sweater // similar distressed jeans (similar for less) // leopard flats // choker

Okay, finally, a slightly different take on the uniform. Ha! I think I need more cardigans in my life. They’re just as practical as a pullover, but they change up my look a bit. I’m wearing the perfect black tee, designed and gifted by my friend Carly Walko at Thirty Something Fashion, with my all-time favorite cardigan, dark jeans, burgundy suede flats, and a choker charm necklace. It’s all very dark, but somehow it works.

thermal hooded cardigan (30% off with code GIFT30! if you don’t have this, treat yourself; you won’t regret it, I promise!) // perfect black tee // DL1961 Emma in Token // similar burgundy flats // similar choker

I wore this to church one Sunday. This cowl neck pullover is at least 10 years old, but I still love it, and somehow it has survived all of my closet purges to date.

And this is what I wore to Thanksgiving dinner, which seems like years ago, although it was only a month. I definitely need to wear cardigans more often. I like this look, and it would be just as cute with flats for an everyday look.

similar circle cardigans // white cami // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // cognac pumps c/o Payless// similar choker // earrings are Fair Trade Friday

I wore this outfit to a dinner party with friends. I typically don’t love the slouchy, oversized look on me, but this sweater is more flattering than some because of the wide neckline. Plus I just love the color.

I was on my way out to Paul’s company holiday party when I snapped this. I did a full post on this outfit back in October. This is a great dress for winter parties, and it’s still available in all sizes.

I was freezing the day I wore this, and I just wanted to bundle up in my warmest boots and sweater.

cable turtleneck // DL1961 Emma skinnies // UGGs (super old) // kate spade crossbody (33% off!) // Moon & Lola Dalton pendant // faux pearl studs // assorted Alex and Ani bangles

I wore this outfit again a few days ago and took a shot of it from a different angle.

reindeer sweater (size down) // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // similar burgundy flats // kate spade crossbody (33% off!) // tribal earrings

I wore this on a chilly working from home. Someone asked if I get cold in ballet flats. I only went out for a quick visit to CVS pharmacy, but if I was going to be out more, I probably would have put on boots. That said, I’ve always worn ballet flats and pumps in cold weather, and I don’t think too much about it. I guess my feet are cold, but as my husband always says, It’s better to look good than to feel good! Haha.

draped waffle knit cardigan (30% off with code GIFT30!) // Paige layering tee (sold out) // DL1961 Emma in Token // grey ballet flats // similar charm necklace

I wore this on Saturday when we got snow in the Poconos. There are more details in yesterday’s blog post.

navy turtleneck // DL1961 Emma skinnies // Sorel boots // camel reefer coat // cozy modal scarf (45% off!) // leather gloves in taupe (25% off – nice Christmas gift idea! order by noon today for free shipping by 12/24) // similar crossbody

This cozy pastel pink sweater is perfect for working from home on chilly days. I dressed it down this time with jeans and a tee, rather than the cami and white jeans I wore with it for a blog post a few weeks ago.

cocoon knit cardigan (similar) // perfect white tee c/o // DL1961 Emma skinnies // grey ballet flats // layered necklace

And I wore this last weekend on our way to the Poconos and out to dinner once we got there. I know I’m showing some of the same outfits, but this is real life, and here’s proof that I do wear my clothes more than once!

similar v-neck sweater // AG legging jeans (similar for less) // UGG Ava suede boots (these are weather resistant so you can be chic in the snow!) // old Silpada circle necklace // D Yurman link bracelet

And I’ll leave you with this. My happy place… although I don’t know why we didn’t have the fireplace on that night. Usually I sit here in the evenings with the fireplace on and read or watch TV with the kids. This is our family tree, and it is decorated with an assortment of ornaments from my childhood, my husband’s dad’s homemade ornaments (he made one every year for each family member), and the ones the kids have made or brought home from school and church over the years. It turned out really pretty this year. It’s a bigger tree than we usually get, and it definitely fills that corner of the room, but we all love it.

My stockings and tree skirt are from Pottery Barn, but they’re a few years old. I just picked up the mantle garland this year, and I love that it’s lighted. Our mantle isn’t level, so I can’t put much up there until we can get it fixed, so I just settled for a simple garland and a few candles this year.

So this is about it for me this year! I may have a New Year’s Eve outfit to share with you before the holiday weekend, or I may hold that till next week. Other than that, I have nothing in the works. I feel crazy even saying that. Usually this time of year I’m posting 2 and 3 posts a day to fit in all of my commitments.

Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see from me over the next week or so. I could work up another gift guide or two, or maybe roundup some retailers that are still offering shipping in time for Christmas, more last minute gift ideas… tell me how I can help!

While my work life might be wrapping up for the season, my personal life is going strong! I have a few more presents to buy (I thought I was done, but I have to even things out with the kids… do you do that? Try to keep it even??) and lots of wrapping to do, grocery shopping and meal planning for my daughter’s 14th birthday on Christmas Eve as well as our Christmas Day festivities and then for our big Shane Family Christmas Party I’m hosting on Monday. Oh, and then I have to have the family packed and ready to leave for Maine next week. So yeah, there’s plenty to do here!

How about you? Are you in good shape, or are you stressing over getting it all done?

I definitely want to make time to enjoy the season, so I’m trying to pace myself and prioritize. For example, I decided not to cook our main meal for our family Christmas party, and I ordered a big spiral honey baked ham to serve instead. I’m also going to pick up a large prepared salmon filet at Costco and pop that in the oven for those who don’t eat pork. Done! Everyone is bringing sides and apps, and the desserts are covered too, so I should be in good shape. I’ll just pick up drinks and some munchies and make sure we have all the paper products we need, and I think I’m good go to.

I still have to figure out what to serve on Christmas Day. It will be a small gathering with only 2 guests, and my family is begging for lasagna. It’s not exactly your traditional Christmas meal, but I could prepare it ahead, and the only sides we need are salad and garlic bread, so it’s sounding like a good idea to me.

What does your family eat for your Christmas meal?

Alrighty! Time to go get the kids up and ready for school. Remember to let me know if you have any post ideas for me as I wrap up the year!

  1. I really enjoy reading your posts. Thank you.
I would love to see a post on clothes for teen girls in the new year. I have 13 year old daughter and I have loved the posts you have done in the past. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  2. Great post! Thanks. My youngest son turns 16 on Christmas Eve so I know what you’re going through. Crazy times! I always say “at least we know what’s for dessert that night”. One less thing to plan! This year we aren’t going “back home” for the holiday so it’s just our small family of 4. Christmas Eve is spaghetti and meatballs (birthday boy’s fav) and ice cream cake and for Christmas I found a great sounding recipe of roasted chicken with winter veggies from a clean eating website. I’m going to really clean “it” up come the new year and figured I’d start that night. Good luck with the last of all the preparations!

  3. Talk about a non-traditional Christmas dinner – last night I brought it up to my family and they voted on a make your own taco bar! Far from a traditional Polish Christmas feast! But, since it’s only the 4 us of at dinner and it’s an interactive meal that we will all enjoy, I may just go for it. Create our own tradition!!!
    Have a wonderful Christmas!

  4. This might be my favorite post this year. Thank you for making me smile and be thankful for all that I have, Jo-Lynne! I’m down with a terrible cold so this was just the pick-me-up I needed. I love your tree. Most of my friends have themed trees, or very elegant ones, but my family tree is like yours, with many ornaments my children made (now ages 24-34. Who can’t resist a Styrofoam cup with your snaggle-toothed first grader’s pic glued inside?) and ornaments that have sentimental value like glass balls from my mother’s tree in the 40’s, and the first ornament given to me when I was a lonely bride living in Alaska, far from my family. As for evening up the gifts, I do the same with my adult children and spouses– my daughters-in-law are my children now, too. And I have 6 grandchildren! The babies get things the mamas need to make mama and baby’s life easier– like a swing. But the 4 older grandchildren (2-6) each have a little pile. The themes this year? Outdoor play (pogo-stick like boxes you jump on) Paw Patrol and Octonauts play sets, books galore, and age-appropriate games to play when they come to Yaya and Papi’s.
    Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas.

  5. I love the uniform of the day! If you’re a stay at home, really, what else can we wear! Lol! Hope you shake that cold! I’ve been sick for weeks now, contacted rotavirus from my 11 month old grandson, that really wiped me out, and with all to do in preparation for Christmas. Then last week he sneezed in my face twice while changing his diaper. And viola, now I’m fighting a cold……
I did lasagna for Christmas Day 2 years ago. This year, it’s a ham. I’m losing my desire for the grand Christmas Dinner, and opting for more time spent enjoying family, instead of running around with my hair on fire, trying to do it all. This year-we’re keeping it simple! We always left for Maine the day after Christmas & returned New Years Eve, but this year, hubby & I are staying home, while our daughter & family go themselves. Everyone needs some alone time to regroup after the holidays! Wishing you & your family a Very Merry Christmas, good health & fun spent with the family!!

  6. Perfect ideas that work well for me- I never like wearing red at Christmas and dressy black pants make me feel old- I love the Jean/ sweater combo for most occasions and you show its possible to be appropriate with them ! I bought the bolo necklace and love it!
I’m also gluten free and just had a gluten free cookie exchange with 4 others!
    Merry Christmas !

  7. You joke about your “uniform” but that’s what we like. You are practical yet put together & stylish. What a lot of your readers want to see! Keep It. Up. PLEASE. I look forward to these outfits because they’re so fitting for my lifestyle

  8. Another great post! I finally ordered the waffle knit cardigan that you love so much, can’t wait for its arrival! We have done lasagna for Christmas dinner many times…a family favorite and nice to have some leftovers for the next day!
    Merry Christmas!

  9. I love all these “uniform” outfits. I’m betting it is what the majority of us really wear everyday anyway, so it’s great to see some staple pieces being reworn in different ways.
As for my Christmas preps, I thought I was completely done with my shopping until my 20 yr old niece’s sweater came in yesterday. It’s terrible and looks way too small so now I’m scrambling to find her something else last minute. And so much is picked over and out of stock…I hate that!
I am actually hosting Christmas Day dinner with my family, and we opted to skip the traditional dinner too and chose a spiral ham and sides. We will be crunched for time and have to have it fairly early, so it seemed the most practical. I’m so relieved I don’t have to stress too much over the meal though.
Good luck with all your prepping and thanks for all you do to keep us fashionable!

  10. I have to say, I much prefer your day to day outfits. The ones you style for the blog are nice, but the ones you wear in day to day life fit my style so much more. I would love a post on casual sweaters and comfy but cute ballet flats.

  11. Merry Christmas! The spiral ham, sausages, cheesy potatoes and some salad and sides will be on our table! Enjoy your family and hopefully some down time! One more day of school and we are off til the 4th!

  12. Would love to see some non-sweater options for winter. I have issues with wearing sweaters. Allergies to most of them. Once in a while I find one I can tolerate. But I’m in need of some ideas for winter casual tops if you have some. Thanks!

  13. Hello! Great summary post. I love the waterfall cardigans you wear. May I ask how tall you are? I am 5’4″ and worry that those types of sweaters might make me look shorter!

  14. Any chance you might consider talking a bit about your thyroid condition? I’m a member of that club too. I read that going gluten free can be helpful for that.

  15. Thanks for all you do Jo Lynne!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family and look forward to your posts in the coming year:) Would love to see posts about proportion and lines….very interesting articles I have been reading and now I know why some things just don’t look good on my body type.

  16. My uniform is the same…minus the ballet flats! ????If my feet are cold my body is too! Some thoughts on what I’d like to see…Christmas morning wear (cute pj’s, slippers, etc), teen boy looks (not necessarily your teen boy, just fun things you may have found), more cardigan looks! I LOVE my cardigans! Your outfit for your hubby’s work party was so lovely. You looked great! Great wrap up! Keep them coming!

  17. Thanks for your posts all year, Jo-Lynne, and Merry Christmas. Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner is lasagna, a cauliflower-broccoli-pea-water chestnut salad, garlic toast, fancy Christmas cookies and red sherbet. Red and green, see what we did there? A favorite that everyone looks forward to!

  18. I host Christmas and we have my parents, sister and her husband and two families from church (I know you know those families 😉 ). Traditionally, we had turkey and sides but my husband hates turkey so we started doing filet and sides a few years ago. Then it got to be too much to do all of the sides so we now do filet and two pastas (one red and one white) along with a salad and green beans almondine so that much of it can be made ahead. My husband grills the filet so all that I have to do on Christmas is heat up the pastas and green beans and make the salad!

  19. We eat pizza. Yes, pizza. When my daughter was young (7) she asked for pizza. I thought it was a crazy idea but my hubby liked it. I make my dough from scratch, cut up ingredients, and then the kids each dressed one. Easy peasy. And, I got to relax with my family, instead of spending the day in the kitchen. Boxing Day is our big meal. Now, two of my children are making their own pizzas for their families on Christmas day. One little girl, with a mind of her own, started a tradition that is carrying on. Have the lasagna, Jo Lynne!

  20. Merry Christmas, Jo-Lynne! Love all of your outfits! I really enjoy your posts throughout the year – thank you for all you do! Perhaps you could do a post regarding after-Christmas sales? Enjoy your holidays!!

  21. So glad I finally started recieving your blog! I tried several times on my yahoo account and seemed too get anything. Gmail is wher you blog arrives. I enjoy you styling tips so much.
    Wishing a fabulously Merry Christmas!

  22. We will be having lasagna too. I try to stay away from carbs, (failing at the moment, ahem) but that day will be a treat. My daughter is hosting on Christmas Eve and me and hubby are by ourselves Christmas Day. I’m thinking church and a movie sounds pretty good!

    1. I’ve been staying away from carbs too, but I can make an exception for this one day, I guess. I use GF pasta and it doesn’t seem as heavy as the real stuff, and everyone tells me they can’t tell the difference.

  23. We will be having a standing rib roast, twice baked baked potatoes and brussle sprouts. That is our family tradition going on 21 years now. I really enjoy your insight into the world of fashion. I have learned so much. Thank you for all that you do in keeping life real. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  24. I love this post! And you dress a lot like I do! That’s what I love to see is “normal” everyday outfits! Perfectly done love your blog! Merry Christmas

  25. Thank you Jo-Lynne. This is the first time I have ever posted a comment on your site since I starting reading it daily back in the summer. I’m responding today because I enjoy your “daily uniforms” as they are outfits that I can duplicate easily. Your casual, chic style is what I try to achieve. My biggest challenge is looking good when the weather is not so nice. I live in the north where it is very cold most of the winter. I would like to see outfit ideas on how to look good but to stay warm. Keep up the excellent posts and enjoy your family holiday plans!

  26. Hi! Can you tell me what size you are in the scuba skinnies? It looks like they are on sale and I want to order a pair. Thanks! 🙂
