Instagram Roundup 12.29.17 {Holiday Edition} #FashionFriday

Hello and TGIF! I’m posting a rare Friday Instagram Roundup. Usually I do these on Saturdays or at least another day of the week when I don’t have the Fashion Friday linkup, but I don’t have a new outfit to share today, and I suppose an Instagram Roundup works just as well for Fashion Friday as any other outfit-centric post, so here we are!

I wanted to post my holiday outfits before the new year because after that, who really cares, right? Although as I look through this post, I realize I didn’t wear that many outfits that are super holiday focused anyway. I guess NYE is still on the horizon, but I’ll be dressing fairly casually for a get-together with friends from church.

Any-WHO. As usual, this is a mix of my daily outfits and looks from the blog with a few other random shots thrown in for good measure. I’d like to share more lifestyle content on IG. That’s really not my forte, but I do think it would be a nice break from the constant outfits. Anyway… just add that to the list of things I want to to work on in 2018. I’m tired already. Ha!

This first look is one of my go-to daily outfits in the fall and winter. I like the color combination as well as the overall fit and proportion of the outfit. (I often wear burgundy shoes when I wear jeans and a grey or black sweater. It helps liven up the outfit without being over the top.) The sweater has a nice relaxed but not oversized fit, and the boatneck is flattering and a nice change from my usual v-neck.

I love these pajamas because they’re festive enough for the holidays but I can wear them the rest of the winter as well. They’re certainly appropriate for today! It’s 15 degrees. They’re 40% off and come in other cute patterns as well. I think they run true to size; I have the medium, which is what I normally wear in pajamas.

This outfit was my last post for our 25 Days of Winter Fashion, and it’s one of my favorites. It’s the same charcoal tweed sweater I’m wearing above. These $64 jeans are a good dupe for my favorite AG legging ankle jeans. See more of this look in THIS POST.

This was another day at home and another one of my go-to outfits. This time I’m wearing burgundy shoes with a taupe sweater and blue jeans. This Vince sweater came in a Trunk Club last winter, and I have worn it SO much. I love the quality, the color, the cut, the design in the knit, pretty much everything about it except that it does pill. (I think they all do anymore.) Still, it is by far my favorite sweater.

Of course, it’s gone online, but I wanted to share it because I think it’s important for you guys to see me re-wearing clothes. I promise, even though it may not seem like it sometimes, I have lots of things I wear over and over. In fact, everything I’m wearing in this outfit is a favorite wardrobe item that gets a lot of use — the jeans, the shoes, the bag, and even the necklace is a few years old. Yes, they’re all on the spendier side, but that’s kind of the point. It’s all about cost per wear.

My daughter and I went for holiday mani/pedis the week before Christmas, and I snapped this picture while I was waiting for her to finish up. This is CND Hollywood, and I LOVE it. I rarely wear red, like next to never, but I’m really enjoying it. It’s perfect for this time of year.

I wore this that night to my son’s holiday band concert at the high school. I thought it was fun for the occasion.

I didn’t post this to my main Instagram feed, but I put it in my Insta Story, and I love it too much not to include it here. I think it’s such a fun shot with the sunstar and all. It was like 25 degrees, but no wind, and it was the best 2 miles I’ve run in a long time.

This cozy cardigan is marked down to $29, and at the time of this posting the beige oatmeal heather is fully stocked in all sizes. It’s really cute and soft and stretchy, but definitely size down. I’m wearing a small, but I could probably take an XS in this.

This is what I wore to church on Christmas Eve. The sweater is a few years old — it was from White House Black Market.

My kids had fun hanging their stockings at Grammie’s house for a change, and I love my mom’s mantle decorations so I had to snap a picture for Instagram.

This is our family picture from dinner on Christmas Day. I’m kind of getting lost back there, but I guess it captures the moment. I have one with the whole family on my personal Instagram account, but my mom is missing because she got sick. That was a bummer, but at least she made it through most of the holiday.

Back at home on Wednesday, I wore this to run errands in 20-degree weather. (Yes, I wore a coat on top!) This sweater is another Vince find that I got on a clearance sale, and now they’re all gone. It is the softest, coziest thing I think I’ve ever put on my body, and I expect to be wearing it nonstop this winter.

Finally, this is what I wore yesterday at home all day. I didn’t even bother with makeup, but I took a picture anyway. #keepingitreal This is one of those simple throw-on-and-go outfits that really works. It’s all about the proportions.

Also, I really love this sweater, and I’m super excited to see that they restocked the Hthr Cactus color I’m wearing. Unfortunately it’s also full price again, but some of the other colors are on sale, and you can get an additional 30% off the ones on sale with code YESPLEASE. I would go for that grey, although the black and pink look great too. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

And that’s that!!! My last Instagram Roundup of 2017. So crazy to think we’ll be writing 2018 in a few days.

It’s not only my last Instagram Roundup of 2017, but it’s also the last Fashion Friday linkup of 2017!

  1. Thank you for a year of great posts, Jo-Lynne. I love the leather jacket with the red scarf outfit. It’s one of my favorites from the whole year. I don’t have a red scarf– red is hard to do as a redhead– so I copied this outfit with the same scarf in a jewel blue.

  2. Love the family photo and thanks for the Amazon Influencer page. I have some leopard SE flats on my wish list. I asked for some Vonic flats for Christmas but they were too big so had to ship those back (they don’t come in a smaller size) and now deciding between TB leopard flats or SE leopard flats. I know you have both…Which would you recommend?

    1. It mostly depends on the look you want — if you prefer the “haircalf” look or the patent. But to be honest, the SE are far more comfortable – esp compared to the patent TB flats. My leather TB flats are great, but the leopard ones took some breaking in and blisters – and someone else told me she had that same issue with those. So while I love the look of the TB and still wear them (I guess I broke then in b/c they don’t bother me now) the SE are more comfortable overall AND half the price.

  3. Another great roundup!  I was going back through your IG pictures to see what you were wearing under your jackets, i.e. the leather ones. I love all the sweaters.  Here is my problem & I’d love to get a bit of help on this. Since I’m older, I’d sweat to death if I wore a sweater underneath a jacket!!  So what else is out there other than my standard mock neck shirt?  The layering seems to be my biggest issue. My neck would be too cold if I didn’t have some type of turtle or mock neck.  Finding a thin sweater has been pretty elusive, as a lot of them have a knitted band at the waist (like you’d find in a cardigan set).  And I can’t stuff anything with bell sleeves under the jacket either!  Enjoy your upcoming family festivities!  We plan on spending a nice quiet evening at home, probably fall asleep in our recliners, wake up to toast 2018 & hit the sack!  Such a wild life we lead!

  4. Love these outfits and I am now coveting a pair of TB Minnie flats lol! I bought a pair of TB leopard booties on major sale and wow, they are so comfortable!! Spending a little more on footwear makes so much of a difference. After trying several different brands at many price points, I am a true believer in buying a better shoe instead of having to replace the cheaper ones after a few months.

Your mom’s holiday decor is beautiful, sorry to hear she got sick and missed the family dinner and photo.

I hope you are able to host the party tomorrow. We are only expecting a coating to an inch or two here in CT. The roads are frozen though…so it might get a bit dicey out there!

  5. Enjoyed this post. 🙂  Hey….hearing Erie Pennsylvania  has up to 65″ of snow.  Are you even close to that place?  That is a crazy amount of snow.  Sounds like its bone cold out your way.  Here on the West Coast….Oregon, its mild and rain, rain, rain. 🙁

  6. Fantastic roundup!  I hope you stayed warm today.  I ordered a pair of wine colored Saucony athleisure shoes.  Your review reminded me how versatile they will be and how they will add that special touch.
It actually got up in the 50’s here, so we made ourselves take down the outside Christmas decorations.  We hope to get them in the crawl space tomorrow afternoon, before the bottom falls out with our temps.
    God bless!

  7. I’m so glad that Madewell sweater is on sale! I’ve wanted the pink one for awhile. Now that Christmas is past, I can shop for myself lol.

  8. I loved your sunshine running pic… do you guys have snow right now? I also love the pic with the red scarf… really cute!
