Instagram Roundup // What I Wore This Week 08.27.16

instagram

It’s Saturday, so that means time for another Instagram Roundup!

During the month of September, Cyndi and I will be posting a new fall outfit every day except Sundays so I won’t be able to do Instagram Roundups unless I post them on Sundays. I always feel a bit awkward posting a lot of shopping links on Sundays. We generally try to keep Sundays more focused on church and family activities, although we have taken to doing a photo shoot or two before church because Paul is home and we have some extra time. It doesn’t feel like work, though. We have fun.

All that to say, I’m not sure what I’ll do about these posts during September. Maybe you won’t really miss them? Let me know your thoughts. Of course, I could do a HUGE recap at the end of the month and just pick my faves. Maybe that’s what I’ll do.

Meanwhile, I DO have an Instagram Roundup for you today. I’m going to try to keep the commentary minimal because I didn’t prep this post ahead of time, and we do want to get out and shoot some photos this morning while the light is optimal. Lately I always feel like I’m behind the eight ball and can’t quite get ahead.

I wore this to the movies with my R and a friend last Saturday. This top is on sale for $35, and it is still available in blue and black.

cold shoulder top

Halogen Lace-Up Flats // Emma Skinnies – several washes on sale // cold shoulder top // leopard watch // bungalow hoops

I wore this to take my daughter to the hair salon and other assorted errands one day this week. You’ve seen variations of this outfit before. It’s a favorite. These sandals are soooo comfy, and they’re on sale 50% off. I am wearing the sand, but the blush is pretty too.

grey white

white crop jeans // alex and ani bracelet set  + assorted bangles // cap sleeve linen tee (similar for less) // georgina sandals (50% OFF! more at Nordstrom and RM.com) // dog clip saddle bag // marquise drop earrings ($28!)

This is a top-down selfie I took of my summer date night outfit. Details in this post.

This slub jersey cowl top keeps going in and out of stock. It’s a great transition piece. I picked it up on the #NSale when it was less than $50, but it’s a great quality piece and worth the price, in my opinion. I also got the bag and the jeans at the #NSale. These are definitely spendy at full price, but they were significantly discounted when I purchased them.

The necklace was sent to me from White House Black Market, but I haven’t been able to find the link online.

sleeveless cowl

I’ve clearly been on a grey kick this week! I wore this on one of our cooler days. This pullover is sooooo soft, and affordable at $44. I also love the rust color. The bag is the perfect pop of fall color.

long sleeves jean shorts

seam detail pullover // Luna pendant // cut off jean shorts (similar for less) // chucks // dog clip saddle bag

Details on this outfit can be found in yesterday’s post.

grace and lace

I picked up these jeans last year when they went on sale. I had tried them on in the store and fell in love with the fit, but I waited until they went on sale to grab them. These were my first pair of AG, and now I’m a huge fan. They do wonders for the, ahem, derriere. They stretch out just enough to fit comfortably and mold to your curves.

I’m also a huge fan of the leopard print lace-ups. Unfortunately, they sold out during the #NSale and haven’t been restocked, although they do come in an array of solid colors.

AG Ankle Leggings // Halogen Lace-Up Flats // shoulder bag // cashmere pullover // leopard watch // pearl cuff

This Lush blouse is one of my favorite fall purchases. It’s only $42, and it comes in seven pretty colors. I bought three. Oooops!

Yesterday was National Dog Day, so I posted this old favorite.

Draped Waffle Knit Thermal Hoodie // Joe’s Rolled Hem Jean Shorts (marked down to $79) // similar striped bag // similar tank // sunnies

And finally, I took this picture last night at a friend’s house. My favorite Rosé, good friends, a warm summer night . . . it doesn’t get much better than that!

  1. Just wondered on the Splendid sweater what size you wore. I’ve never purchased from them before. Have a great weekend!

  2. All beautiful pictures Jo-Lynne. You’ve given me some great transition into fall ideas! Although I’m not able to wear a few of the styles from the some of the stores you shop, I’m usually pretty successful in finding something of the same color/style for my size 16 frame! I have a few go to stores that carry some quality pieces, so I go from there. I really love those tops from Loft that are basics, but again for my size I have found the cotton to be a little too thin. No one likes looking at back boobs! Yikes! I’m so excited to see whats next from you & Cyndi for the fall. And sending prayers your way as your daughter transitions into Cyber School! Our daughters are now 36 & 34. We had them in Christian school until they hit middle school, then off to public school. They did extremely well there. BUT that was a different era. Nowadays, there are sooo many other pressures. And I know that first hand, as one of our daughters is a public school teacher. I’m just blown away by what goes on in schools……sorry to write a book here! Enjoy what may be a last hot summer weekend here in PA!

    1. There are definitely new challenges in this day and age! 🙂 Fortunately my daughter hasn’t run into any major issues at school; I just don’t think she’s wired for a traditional classroom environment. Not everyone is, of course. It’s awesome that we have so many choices these days.

  3. Yeah, I will miss the roundups, but you only have so much time, right? Totally understand that you can’t possibly cram everything in!
Those RM sandals…I still kick myself for not grabbing them a couple months ago for 50% off! It’s very tempting now that they are back down again, especially since they look like they would pair beautifully with one of my new bags, lol. Did you say you went up or down 1/2 size?

  4. Jo-Lynne, While I do enjoy the round-up posts a lot, I don’t want you to stop the Coffee Chat on Sunday’s, so I vote for a big months end round-up consisting of your favorites. I’m soooo ready for Fall!

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Yeah, I definitely want to keep the coffee talk. I could combine them – I think I did that in a previous style series, but I will most likely do a roundup of favorites at the end. 🙂 I also sometimes post my Intagram looks on my Facebook page. I think more people are on FB than Insta.

  5. Your end-of-the-week recaps are fun to read on a relaxing Saturday morning. That’s the one morning a week I’m not rushing (with a husband who’s a minister, Sundays are early rising and busy), and I usually read them before I start my day.

However, with the September days ahead posting six outfits a week, I’d say Sundays should be free for you! As you said, you could do a final summary of some kind at the end. I believe everyone would understand the need for that.

Looking forward to fall outfit posts! I look better in fall and winter clothes than in summer ones, and there always seems to be more variety and choices in cooler weather outfits.

Best wishes in your cyber schooling for your daughter. I hope you achieve your goals and that it is successful for her.

  6. I love all your posts and especially the Round Ups. I purchased the lush blouse in the green color and I love it. I was wondering – I think you mentioned being able to wear it later when it gets cooler and I was wanted to see how you might style it. If you ever have a free moment if you could show an idea of that. Thanks so much!!!

  7. Enjoyed the post. A recap at the end of your Fall series is good for me. A side note, the link to subscribe to daily emails won’t go away even though I’m already subscribed, maybe that’s normal but can they keep it from enlarging when you zoom in to a picture? It takes up so much room on the screen that I can’t see what I’m zooming in to look at. (Viewing on iPhone if that makes a diff.). Thanks!

    1. Oh, wow, that is annoying! I rarely look at my site on mobile, but now that you mention it, that happened to me yesterday when I was showing something to a friend. Let me see if my tech team can do something about that. Thanks for letting me know!! 🙂

  8. Looking forward to the fall line up! Can you help with DL1961 sizing? I am a 30-31 in Paige but I do have some curves. When I go to the chart it only goes up to 8-10 in US sizes. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Even if you can only tell me they run true or size up or down. Thanks Jo-Lynne!

  9. As always I look so forward to your daily e mails. I do agree that you deserve a free day, though. You are so busy and with the new schooling I marvel at how you accomplish it all. I know all your followers appreciate how much time you devote to this blog and how informative you are for us. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, life and expertise .

    1. Thanks, Sharon. I do like using Sundays for Coffee Talk. It doesn’t feel like an obligation. It’s fun to sit down and recap the week, and I enjoy the feedback. But I think a day without shopping links is probably a good idea. 🙂

  10. I really enjoy your posts and look forward to seeing your fashion picks each day! I love that you style outfits that are beautiful, comfortable and fun; you have a way of showing us how to embrace and enjoy whatever age we are. Thank you for being a highlight of my day!
