Instagram Roundup & Coffee Talk

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. I feel like it actually started yesterday because it was my birthday and Paul took the day off from work. I woke up this morning realizing that we still have the whole weekend ahead of us as well as our U.S. Independence Day holiday on Monday before we have to get back to our regular routine, such as it is in the summertime. It’s a great feeling.

Yesterday morning I ran 3 miles in just under 30 minutes. I haven’t run a 10-minute mile pace since getting back to running this time around, and it felt great. I really wanted to make that time on my birthday, for some silly reason. I know it’s okay if I’m not as fast as I used to be. What matters is that I am out there, but it’s always fun to set a new PR. It felt like a mini-birthday present.

Speaking of birthday presents, I’ve already had some sweet and thoughtful gifts, and we aren’t actually celebrating until today. A friend at church delivered a box of handmade greeting cards. I’ve been trying to be better about sending thoughtful cards, and I love having those on hand. Another dear friend sent me an autographed book that her friend wrote and a pair of earrings from Fair Trade Friday that I can’t wait to style. My mom also sent me a spa gift card. WOOT!

Then last night we were at a friend’s house celebrating his birthday, but they all surprised me with a little gluten-free chocolate cake and presents. My friends stocked me up on good wine and also this adorable handled canvas basket that says “I WORE IT ONCE” on the front. I mean, HOW PERFECT IS THAT? It even matches my office. That’s where I’ll be keeping all the clothing and other items I’m selling on @shopjolynneshane.

I wore it once

Then of course there was the outpouring of birthday wishes on Facebook that always makes birthdays so fun.

And it’s not over yet. Because we had the other party last night, we were planning to celebrate mine today. Paul has something fun planned for our family this evening, and he won’t tell anyone what it is. I’m usually not a huge fan of surprises, but I’m looking forward to finding out what he has up his sleeve.

Meanwhile I have an Instagram Roundup for you. If you missed anything or aren’t on Instagram, now you can catch up on everything in one convenient place.

Instagram Roundup

This is the outfit I wore last Sunday. We went over to the mall before church for this photo shoot, and then I just wore the outfit to church and out to lunch afterwards. I don’t usually wear ripped jeans to church, but I didn’t feel like changing, and we’re a pretty casual congregation.

This adorable Ladder Tee is 50% off at LOFT, making it $20, although it was $15 last week so it might go lower again at some point. This is Cameleon Teal, which I love for summer, but I also love the Purple Potion color for fall. If you’re one to buy ahead, this will be a great piece to have in your fall wardrobe because it can easily be layered under a sweater or jacket when the weather gets cooler but it’s also cute as a stand-alone top.

Then I posted this close-up of my jeans and shoes. My Georgina Sandals (LOVE!!!) are on sale for $99 at Nordstrom. The Black and Blush colors (love the Blush!) are on sale at Bloomingdales for $85.

I wore this on Monday to run some mundane errands. I hate being cold in the grocery store, so I usually wear jeans, even if it’s hot outside. This is my old faithful T by Alexander Wang. I love the softness and the drape, even though it’s $$$. My silver and turquoise pendant is discontinued, which is a shame. It’s a great little pop of color against a neutral outfit. My pink Gigi sandals are also discontinued, but they’re still available in other colors. Some are on sale.

Then I posted this sneak peek of Tuesday’s post. I love and adore these Marc Fisher Adalyn espadrille wedges, but this color is selling out fast. They’re also at 6pm.com for $79. (If Nordstrom has your size, call them, and they will price adjust.)

I also found a great dupe for this skirt! I was shopping this week at J.Crew, and they have one that is almost identical. It’s on sale for $70 and then 40% off on top of that with code COOLSTYLES.

I wore this outfit on a super hot and muggy day when I had a bunch of doctor appointments. I felt cool and comfortable and put-together all day long. These Pixie Shorts at Old Navy are a steal for $12. Mine are the Ashen Lilac. This t-shirt is very thin, but I like it. It runs large, though, so size down. I have the small. The handbag is super old.

Details on this outfit can be found in this post: Denim & White Outfit with Patterned Espadrilles.

I wore this outfit to the mall to get my iPhone fixed. I shattered the screen when I dropped it in the driveway. Lesson learned! Get a tempered glass screen protector!!! I have one now. These pink jeans are on sale at Nordstrom, but only a few sizes are left. (I’m wearing the 29.) They are also at Bloomingdales, but not on sale there at the moment. I enjoyed wearing my Brezza lace-up flats again, and this is the White House Black Market Jetsetter Tee that I also have in black. I’m wearing a small.

These outfit details can be found in this post: Black Peplum Sweater + White Jeans. I love, love, LOVE this outfit. The crochet tank is super cute on, and it’s 50% off at LOFT. It also comes in rust.

I posted these Sole Society “flatform espadrilles” but they are now sold out pretty much everywhere. SORRY! It’s a shame. They are sooo cute. If you’re a size 11, you’re in luck. LOL!!! These are similar but $$$. (I’m kind of digging the red.) And I’m sorry, but I do not know the color of the nail polish on my toes. It’s a Zoya, that’s all I know.

This is my new Endorphin Warrior bracelet that supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The campaign is inspired by the strength and courage of MDA families who do remarkable things every day despite the physical and societal limits diseases like muscular dystrophy and ALS often create. The idea is to inspire everyone to view every day as an opportunity to overcome challenges, doubts, and obstacles and live life to the fullest.

You can buy them for $22, and $6 from the sale of each LIVE UNLIMITED bracelet goes to MDA to support research, clinical care for kids and adults, services, and support for families touched by MDA across America. Pretty cool, yes???

They sent me two — one for me and one to gift to someone who inspires me so I gave the 2nd one to my personal trainer. She pushes me beyond my limits every time we train together and has taught me that I am so much stronger than I thought I was. She is also the one who told me I could run a half marathon and supported me through the months of training, and when I was injured, she encouraged me and told me I would run again. I didn’t believe her, but she was right. I am back out there, but I honestly think I’d have given up long ago if it wasn’t for her constant encouragement and pushing me to keep trying. She’s tough. She takes a “no excuses” approach, and through my months of recovery, when I couldn’t run, our workouts were what kept me going, kept me in shape, and then enabled me to get back out there. I am so grateful for her. When I gave her the bracelet, she was really touched.

This is another casual outfit I wore one day this week. It’s very similar to the one I posted to the blog on Thursday, but I was trying out my new Soludos that came in the mail. I really wanted to love these, but they cut into the back of my heel. When I initially ordered them, I was planning to choose between these and the Sole Society ones, and I really thought I would prefer these. I have had my eye on this style for a couple of months, and I really love the color. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. They are going back. They are too expensive to keep in hopes that they’ll soften up. And like everything else, they’re selling out quickly. I’m so frustrated by how much of the summer stuff is already going, going, gone.

In other news, this v-neck linen sleeveless top is 50% off at LOFT, making it $15. I really like it. The styling is relaxed without being too voluminous, and it is a nice length in the front. These jean shorts are on sale for $99, which I know is a lot for jean shorts, but they are Joe’s Jeans and soooo comfortable and cute on.

I posted this throwback to share that this red off-the-shoulder top is still available in all sizes. It’s a gorgeous piece and perfect for summer events. I paired it with white jeans, but I think it would also be fun with blue jeans or even jean shorts.

Finally, I posted this selfie yesterday before I went to Kohl’s to shop for a campaign I’m working on with them. It’s the same Jetsetter Tee that I had on earlier in the week, this time with my DL1961 Emma skinnies. I cuffed them in a single large cuff and wore my Sole Society Audrina flatform sandals.

I’m also wearing a new necklace that came from Stella & Dot this week. I wanted something silver that would go with my more casual outfits, and this Aurelia Necklace is perfect. I also like that it can be worn 3 ways. I took the two longer chains off and just wore the short pendant last night with my black Jetsetter tee.

The pink Marc Jacobs Natasha Q crossbody I’m carrying is available at Farfetch, but I purchased it for about half that at Nordstrom Rack.

Okay! That’s a wrap. I hope you have a lovely Saturday! I don’t plan to post in the morning, but I will have a July 4th sales roundup on Monday as well as a super fun giveaway, so be sure to stop by before your July 4th festivities begin!!!

  1. Happy, happy Birthday! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, especially with the surprise plans from your husband! Happy 4th!

  2. I’m interested in seeing the project you will have with Kohls. I have trouble finding things there that don’t look cheap. Looking forward to your suggestions!

  3. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your weekend! Can you tell me if the White House Black Market jet setter tee you have on is on the thin side, needing a cami underneath? Super cute! Sounds like it runs on the larger side?

  4. Happy birthday!! Love that jet setter tee! I have it in the black and the blue and love them! Just ordered the jcrew denim skirt. I love your denim skirt everytime you wear it!

  5. Happy Birthday! I love the Marc Fisher espadrille wedges, are they comfortable? I am trying to talk myself out of getting them but they are so stinking cute! And they keep popping up everywhere on social media. I’d love to hear what you think of them as far as being comfortable and versatile. Thanks!

  6. That tote is SO cute! I wonder if they have one that says “Fold These Clothes Right Now!” LOL. I hope that you had wonderful birthday, it sounds like you did! And way to go for setting a PR. Right now, my goal is to get up early, walk around the block a few times before work, and then do some blogging.

Hope you have a great holiday!

  7. I just started following your blog a month ago. You seem so real and down to earth. You have inspired me in fashion and in running. I started running about 3 months ago. I use an app to help me build up from walking and running to all running. Happy Birthday! My birthday is July 1st. I just turned 47. I have a 10 and a 12 year old. I want to look young and feel great. You inspire me to do both! God bless you! ????❤️

  8. Birthday twins ???? No wonder you are so fabulous! ???? Yes, I am doing Couch to 5k. It is awesome. I’m not overweight and I do exercise and do arm weights but I’ve never liked running until now! This app is the reason for my success and the encouragement I get from your blog. You and Cyndi are the 2 main blogs I follow now. Do you use a treadmill too? I have to figure something out for when it gets too hot. I’m in Southern California and it hasn’t been too hot yet but it will be! Thanks!

    1. Running is a great stress relief! I don’t have a treadmill. I detest running on the treadmill. I go out as early as I can – like 5:30 or 6:00 when it is super hot. I trained for a half marathon thru the dead of summer one year. It is doable, it just takes some commitment. 🙂 That said, I didn’t go out today b/c it was stifling. Our weather is going to be in the upper 90s this week so I plan to get out there super early the next few days while it’s still a balmy 72. Ugh! LOL!
