It’s Better to Taste Good than to Look Good

When I married into my husband’s family, I inherited the family molasses cookie recipe.  Supposedly this recipe goes back to Moses.  Or at  least to the 19th century.  At any rate, it’s been around for a while, and there is a reason for this.  They are GOOO-HOOOD!  And they are fun to make.  My husband’s parents still make these cookies every year, as does his sister’s family.  A few years ago my husband decided we should get in on the fun as well, and we’ve been making them ever since.

I decided to use my new Flip Ultra video camcorder to get some video footage of our cookie making extravaganza this year.  My husband had fun with the editing, and he even managed to get in a plug for his Handyguys Podcast.  Look for it!

  1. I love your comment about not icing. I would not be able to handle just slapping the icing on. Perfect job for the husband and kids 🙂 Thanks for the sharing the recipe – they look so yummy!

  4. So fun to see your vlog! And that t-shirt looks fantastic on you! I love that purple color. Where did you get it? And I think it’s so fun that you’re wearing athletic pants. That outfit looks exactly like something I would wear around the house.

  5. Steph – I know, I hated to be a schlump, but to make cookies, I couldn’t see wearing designer jeans. 😉

That top is from the Loft – like 3 years ago! UGH. 🙂

  6. That was fun! I’ll have to check out your recipe and see how it differs from mine. I really need to make some cookies with T and D! I have a Flip camera too and love it.

  7. Very fun!! Glad to see you are getting the hang of it. If you think about it stop over and add any input you have on creating a vlog to my Vlogging 101 post. Did Paul put up the special lighting again? Did you use the tripod?

    Thanks!

  8. I had meant to leave you a comment on this post, but (as usual) got distracted and never came back to it. Anyway, I thought of it again today because you know what I loved best about this video? The cookies look delicious, but I loved your nails! That color you had on your nails looked so great. It inspired me to give a similar shade a try. So, this afternoon, during naps, I actually painted my nails (the first time in I can’t remember how long!). I feel so very glam and festive. I just wanted you to know that your sense style of influenced mine today! 😉

  9. Oh, no the recipe is GONE! I love molasses cookies and these sound fabulous! Don’t tease, please fix the link! 🙂 Oh, you may be under threats of death, dealing out a family recipe, but pleeeeeezzzzzee??? LOL
