It’s Changed My Life, I Tell You!

You will never believe what simple $3 investment has dramatically changed our lives here at the Musings household.  It’s a hairbrush.

Seriously.

A few weeks ago my good friend Sarah posted on Chic Critique about an Ouchless hairbrush that promises to comb through the worst snarls a little girl has to offer without the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth that typically ensues. Now, Sarah knows something about combing little girls’ hair.  Both of her girls have long, thick hair.  I knew that if she said this brush was the real deal, it must be worth a try.

Until this week, hair combing has been a dreaded event in my house.  My 5-year-old is determined to have long hair, but her wavy hair tangles easily and causes a great deal of stress.  She tries to cooperate because I threaten to cut it every time she squawks, but it is getting increasingly harder to comb out her long curly locks.

Enter the Goody Ouchless Hairbrush.  This thing is miraculous.  I’m serious.  If you have a daughter, you MUST get one.  (And no, I receive no benefits from Goody for promoting their products.  Not that I’d turn them down if they were offering.)

The secret is the retractable bristles.  I don’t even have to take care when I am brushing.  I can just drag the thing through her hair as fast as I want, and she never makes a peep.  I’m seriously going to buy one for every room in the house.

In other news, the kids have the day off from school.  The weather is perfectly glorious.  Whatever shall we do with ourselves?  I find it hard to find activities that are appropriate for kids that span ages 3 to 9.

And also.  Today is R’s 3 year birthday!  Happy birthday, you little stinker.  Mama loves you.

  1. Oh, I am heading out to get one of those!

Happy Birthday, R! She is a cutie.

We are off today, too and headed to an indoor bounce house. We were headed to a pumpkin patch/corn maze but it is rainy.

    Happy day off!

  2. Happy Birthday to R! Your youngest shares a birthday with my oldest. As to what to do with this day, I say something outdoors if the weather is that nice. Surely they all like to run around the park or the neighborhood. Have a picnic in the backyard–the sheer novelty will entertain. Enjoy the day!

  3. I’ve also heard sleeping on a satin pillow case will help a lot with tangles. I just cut my little girl’s hair and it’s helped a lot.

  4. Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while and enjoying it! Today is my little girl’s 3rd birthday too!!! Have a great day!

  5. Happy Birthday R! She’s so cute!
That hairbrush sounds miraculous. I’m going to have to get one of those.
Any idea why your blog isn’t showing new posts in my Bloglines? For a while there I thought something was seriously wrong! Then I clicked over and found all sorts of posts that I’d missed.

  6. Happy Birthday to R!

I love that brush! I bought it because of the review on CC too and it has been amazing! I am getting another one this weekend – for some reason I am always losing brushes.

  7. A good hairbrush makes all the difference in the world. I’ve always had a VERY tender head, and I LOVE the ouchless brushes! They work wonders on my daughter’s frizzy tangled mess, too!

  8. We also have that brush and it’s the gentlest one we have. I still have to work through Madeline’s hair but I think the problem lies more with her hair than the brush. 🙂

  9. This is one my to do list ever since I read Sarah’s review about it. I gotta get one now!! Oh and Happy Birthday to your smiling little girl. What a gerat picture!!

  10. Awwww. Happy Birthday to your sweet one! I picked up one of those brushes after reading Sarah’s post and I wholeheartedly agree with you. It is a lifesaver and has made brushing my daughter’s hair a lot easier. 🙂

  11. Thanks for sharing. I have already converted over to Lash Out mascara that you’ve recommended. Now I will definitely be buying many of these brushes, as I have 2 girls, and brushing their hair is AWFUL!!!! I can’t wait to go out tomorrow and get some.

  12. Happy Birthday R!

As for this brush…I have to get one. My daughter cries every morning when I brush her hair….as you can tell, that is the only time it gets brushed unless I hold her down kicking and screaming.
Hopefully this will make everyone’s day a little brighter!
