So my daughter informed me this weekend that she is too old to play with dolls. She’s five. GIMMEABREAK! Next thing I know, she’s gonna want to shave her legs. What ever happened to childhood? Someone stop me before I break a leg climbing up on my soapbox.
And then if that wasn’t depressing enough, I found out that I have the body of a 42-year-old. At least that’s what the Wii Fit told me. And an entire room full of people. I’m telling you, there is no dignity after age 35. I’m glad I didn’t shell out the big bucks for that game. Killjoy.
Okay, are you listening reading? This is certainly the first and probably the last time I will ever talk politics on this blog. In my humble and fairly uninformed opinion, choosing Sarah Palin, whether or not she is the most qualified candidate for the job, was a brilliant maneuver on the part of the Republican campaign. Because before Palin entered into the equation, the Republican ticket was as stale as day-old bread. And now the spotlight is off the Obama/Biden camp and onto the Palin/McCain camp. (And yes, I intentionally ordered their names that way.) No matter what happens with this election, it will have an historic outcome. The playing field has been leveled, and may the best team win. For the first time in my life, I am interested in a presidential election. And y’all, THAT’S saying something.
It’s Monday. I’m sure you noticed. This will be our first full week of school. I’m wondering why I only signed R up for 2 days a week. And why our district doesn’t offer full-day kindergarten. And I thought I’d miss summer. Interestingly, notsomuch. Of course, it helps that the weather is still lovely. I’m not looking forward to dry, cracked skin and bundling up in coats and scarfs and mittens.
In honor of Monday, or in spite of it, here’s a meme. Jen tagged me. As if I don’t do enough for her over on 5 Minutes For Books, she’s got my nose to the grindstone here too. (I’m just kiddin’, Jen. You know how I love a meme.)

1. It has given me something to do. I am NEVER bored anymore.
2. It has provided me with a small subsidiary income. I now have a way to earn money from home. It’s not paying the mortgage, but it keeps me from racking up a credit card bill at Nordstrom.
3. It has given me a community of moms with whom I can share the joys and trials of motherhood, and it kept me from feeling isolated when we moved. I have made some amazing friends through blogging.
4. I get some awesome free stuff! And I get to host really cool giveaways. Love that. AND it took me to Disney World and NYC.
5. I have developed computer skills that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Not to mention the whole blog design business I never would have discovered without blogging first.

I totally agree with you on the Republican ticket. Palin may have issues but shes the most exciting thing offered at this point!
I don’t even want to talk about the Wii fit! We were at an unfair advantage and I think you know why!!
I stayed up until 3 a.m. last Thursday watching the speeches online and catching up on both sides. I’m pretty excited about this election now.

Hope someday to meet some of them in real life.

LOL — Work harder, chica! Seriously I just wanted to hear your thoughts on blogging, because I know you love it.
I’m with on the full-day K. We don’t have it either. So this year Kyle has preschool 3 days a week from 9 – 1. Next year? He’ll have K 5 days a week, but from 9 – 11:30 am or something. Horrible. That said, I have to admit that for my particular boy, it might be a good thing. I just have to keep in mind that it will be one year of not much for me.
I’m also starting to get interested in this election and it is very rare that I talk or even think about political things. It’s definitely gotten interesting since Palin came into the picture.
My daughter has an almost full day pre-k. She goes from 7:50 to 2:30. She gets out a whole 55 minutes before her brother and sisters. Kindergarten here is full day.
You are certainly right, this is already a history-making election year! Love how you ordered the names for the Rep. ticket. I find it interesting how she’s being compared to Obama instead of Biden.
