January Favorites 2020

Every month I like to share a roundup of things I’m particularly loving at the moment… some of these are new finds, and some are old favorites, but they’re all getting a lot of use these days.

January Favorites 2020

Warby Parker Hayden frames // I loved my old eyeglasses, but they would not stay on my face. I even took them back to LensCrafters to try to get them fitted better, and I was told they couldn’t make them any tighter — something about the length of the bow being too short for me?

I finally had enough, so I stopped into Warby Parker one day when I was at the mall and found these. They aren’t quite as pretty as my old pink ones, but they are lighter and fit my face a whole lot better. Plus, my in-store experience at Warby Parker was super quick and easy!

Lenox Textured Neutrals dishes // I shared these in yesterday’s post, but I’m loving them so much right now, I had to include them.

It’s really fun having printed dishes after having plain white for so many years, and I love how there are several designs that can be mixed and matched.

Chelsea28 cowl // This sweater harkens back to the #NSale in July, but it’s still one of my go-tos, and I wanted to include a sweater that isn’t wool or cashmere because I know some of you can’t wear those fabrics.

Okay, I just checked, and it does have 5% wool, but I do not find it itchy at all. For size reference, I have my usual small, but it’s roomy. You could size down if you wanted a closer fit. It comes in a bunch of colors and is still well stocked.

Agolde crop jeans // You’ve probably seen these already, and you will be seeing a lot more of them! I’m excited about incorporating a new silhouette into some of my daily looks.

The denim on these is super thick and soft, the wash is perfectly worn in but not distressed, and they have a flattering slim fit with a straight cropped leg. Also, Agolde is a sustainable brand that is made in the USA.

Apple Airpods // I finally treated myself to a pair of Apple Airpods, as I’ve been running with a cord dangling from my earbuds for the past few years.

It suddenly struck me how ridiculous that is, when my kids are walking around with Airpods in their ears half the time, so I decided it was time for me to upgrade. I LOVE THEM.

I find myself wearing them some around the house when I want to finish a podcast I was listening to in the car, and it’s great because there’s no cord to get in my way as I’m cleaning the kitchen and things like that.

UGG Quincy boots // These are my go-to boots for the coldest of days. They are sooooo cozy and warm, and comfortable enough to wear around the house all day. I often put them on when I’m not going anywhere b/c they’re warmer than my slippers… see #9.

These boots run a little small; I recommend sizing up half.

Nordstrom Signature Bateau Neck sweater // I’ve been wearing this sweater at least once a week since I got it for Christmas. It’s so luxe, and the details in the knit are super pretty. It’s a great bang for your buck, especially at the 40% off sale price!

It runs big; I have my usual small, but you could size down for a closer fit.

Beyond Yoga leggings // I just ordered a few different pairs of leggings to try… more to come in Friday’s Try-On Haul! These are my favorites of the ones I ordered. They are so, so soft, and not at all see-through. They have a comfortable high rise, and they don’t slide down when I run.

You can actually see the texture a little bit better below.

UGG Dakota slippers // These were another Christmas gift, and I’ve been wearing them pretty much non-stop around the house… except when it’s so cold that I go for my UGG Quincy boots (above.)

I found these true to size, but some people like to size up.

Kiels Creme de Corps // This body lotion has saved my skin this winter. As long as I use it every time I get out of the shower, I never get that nasty dry, itchy winter skin. It’s nice that there is no scent, so my husband can use it too.

  1. I am seriously considering ordering the Ugg boots. I am having trouble with my big toe. I think it is a repetitive motion injury compounded by wearing shoes that are too tight. I am worried that these boots run small. Do you think they would work for me?

    1. So the thing with shearling lined UGGs is, they can feel tight at first, but when they wear in, the shearling gets matted down some and they are no longer too big. I go with my regular size in slippers b/c I will walk out of them if I size up.

I went ahead and sized up to a 9 in these boots (I usually wear 8 or 8.5 in boots) and they’re comfortable, but I do find myself tripping over them from time to time, lol! I tried both on in store, and hemmed and hawed, and went bigger, but I sort of wish I’d stuck with the 8.5. Anyway, my point is, I think you’d like them, but maybe size up?

  2. Very enjoyable post!  I like your new eyeglasses!  I’ve learned how to use my blow dryer to make mine fit a little better after they’ve stretched from being worn all of the time.  Without them I don’t see too good.  I love your go to boots, that you wear even in the house.  I hope you stay warm today!

      1. Put your blow dryer on high heat, blow the bridge of your glasses or the temple ( the part that goes over your ear) for about 30 sec. then bend your glasses a little bit.  Repeat the steps until the fit is satisfactory.

  3. Good morning Jo🙂
I concur with your love of Beyond Yoga high waist leggings. I practice yoga every day either at home or in studio and these are my go to tights. I think I have them in every color they offer. There is no sagging, bagging or tugging going on. They are pricey but you get what you pay for. I have had mine for a few years and you would never know it. I highly recommend them

  4. I love the belt you are wearing today, black leather with a round silver buckle. You are wearing it in the picture for the Agolde jeans. Do you have a link for it?

  5. Hello-
I love reading about your life and all the different  things you get to try or just normally use. So that brings me to a question- do you have any recommendations for jeans that are not cropped but still straight legged just longer. And I apologize if you have posted something about this before.
    Anyway stay warm!
    Cheers! Lisa

    1. Lisa – Straight leg jeans are my favorites. My latest purchases, Macys/Lauren Ralph Lauren and INC. Others that I’d buy again Old Navy, BASS and Lee’s.

  6. I laughed your comment about the kids having airpods while you were still messing with the cord. I came to the same conclusion last week!  Can’t wait for mine to arrive!

  7. Love all those. Especially the cute boots. I love the dishes u picked out. I can see them at Valentine’s day and Christmas with red placemats.

  8. Good Morning JoLynne!
Just ordered a new pair of Ugg slippers. My current pair have lasted me 4 winters! Thanks for posting as I just got in under the wire for a sale price!
Since they are designed by the same person, how do you find the Agolde jeans compared to the AG jeans you wear?

    Thx

      1. When I click on the Ugg Dakota slipper pic/link, it brought me to Nordstrom site for the Ugg slippers. Scroll down for other styles.only a few left, but I’ve seen them come back in stock a few times, so keep watch. Good luck. Paid 69$

  9. I love my UGG slippers I got for Christmas. The Ansley style. I wear them around the house all day. They are as warm and as comfortable as my boots. I don’t have the UGG boots you’ve styled the older pull on ones and I wear them in bare feet😉no need for socks even in -25 weather! UGG anything seems well worth the investment!
Love all your favorite picks.. they all scream quality.

  10. I bought the Kiehl’s moisturizer and fell in love the first time I used it. Best lotion I have ever used. Thank you for telling us about it.

  11. Beyond Yoga tights are BEYOND. I have had mine for over a year and they still look brand new.  And I agree that they are so incredibly soft yet can take the heavy duty workouts without any nasty sweat marks. I have two pair of the space dyes. And yes I am not afraid to admit that I have slept in mine. You won’t want to take them off!

  12. Regarding the Kiel’s lotion…… is it really non scented? I can’t do scents so struggle to find lotions. In need now if one but also looking to get a CLEAN one. Do you know if this lotion has any bad ingredients?
