Last Minute Holiday Outfit + Gift Ideas with Nordstrom

The countdown is on, my friends! It’s exactly one week till Christmas Eve, and if there was ever a top begging to be taken to a holiday party, it’s this one.

I found this clip dot ruffle peplum blouse when I was shopping at Nordstrom last week, and it pretty much demanded to come home with me.

I’ve always been a fan of a peplum, and I love how this one has two layers for a little extra sass. Plus, the combination of black and gold is so festive.

(That is not a zipper in the back, it’s my necklace… See more below, but it’s adjustable so you can wear it short or long.)

The blouse is very sheer, but it comes with a cami that has adjustable straps. I like how they’re not attached, so you put both pieces on separately, and you can always wear the cami with another top if you want.

It’s regular-bra friendly, but I would recommend wearing a black one. #ooops

I know I’ve styled black jeans a lot lately, but they seemed like the obvious choice with this top.

The nice thing is, most of us probably already have black jeans or pants in our closet, so you have half of the outfit already!

That said, if you happen to be in the market for a new pair of black skinny jeans, I highly recommend the AG Farrahs that I’m wearing. The black wash doesn’t fade, and they have such a flattering fit with a comfortable high rise and a 28″ inseam.

You could also go with velvet or coated denim for a more festive flair, but I opted for some gold accessories and kept my pants a little more understated.

I accessorized with a few pieces from Kendra Scott — these feminine gold drop earrings and this adjustable black and gold pendant necklace.

The diamond shape pendant is such a nice size for making a statement without competing with the rest of the look, and I said above, this necklace is adjustable so you can make it the exact length you want.

When I saw this gold Kate Spade clutch, I knew it was the perfect accompaniment to this look, plus it will be useful to have for future events.

You can even carry it with casual outfits like jeans and a sweater for date night if you want a little extra bling.

It looks small, but it actually holds my extra large smartphone comfortably, and it has a removable chain strap for when you want to be hands-free.

This top also comes in a gorgeous red as well as a black and gold foil dot, and it runs true to size. The small fits me perfectly.

If you’re in need of a festive top to spice up your holiday gatherings, I can’t imagine a more perfect choice.

And because it’s cold, you’ll need a warm coat to top it off.

This faux fur leopard print coat is from the Rachel Parcell for Nordstrom collection, and it’s the perfect statement coat to add to your winter wardrobe.

It’s suuuuuper warm and cozy, and I love that it’s almost knee-length so you can wear it over cardigans and tunics.

I recommend sizing up if in between on this one. While the small did fasten, I went with the medium for a little extra wiggle room and because it’s intended to have a slightly oversized fit.

Also, these gilded gold leather pumps are under $100 and extremely comfortable to walk in.

They have a 3″ heel and a cushioned footbed, and I think the gilded gold is such a nice change from nude or black for the holidays and beyond. I do recommend sizing up half, as they run a little small.

Best of all, everything I’m wearing in this post comes with Nordstrom’s generous return policy. If something doesn’t work out, you have up to six months to return or exchange it.

And if you need your order right away, you can opt for store pickup or their buy online, try on in store option. Or better yet, choose curbside pickup, and you won’t even have to get out of your car!

Also, now through December 19th, Nordstrom Cardholders earn 10 points for every dollar spent, and Nordy Club members earn 5 points per dollar. Earn extra rewards while you get your holiday shopping done — it’s a win/win!

  1. That is a beautiful top and you look great in this outfit!  Is it to dressy for Paul’s office Christmas party?  I placed an order with Amazon last night, but I don’t expect it to arrive until tomorrow since we are in a rural area.  Have a productive day!

    1. His office party was the weekend my parents were here, so we didn’t make it. It was at the Philadelphia Zoo this year, so… probably not the best venue for this outfit. Haha! But we have dinner plans with friends next weekend, and there’s always NYE!

  2. Perfect!
You hv overdone it this season!
    So many wonderful gift Guides!
I love how you elevate outfits with
    extra accessories!
So excited to receive Kendra Scott
Necklace as work incentive this year!
Merry Christmas to your family and thank
    You for all wonderful posts!

  3. WOW! Of all the outfits you have shown recently, this one is my favourite! You truly knocked this one out of the ball park, Jo-Lynne. The outfit is beautiful and when you add the coat, it sends the outfit up a notch or two or four. That coat is gorgeous! I hope that you kept all of the components of this look and will have a chance to wear it as you look amazing.

  4. OMG! I love everything about this outfit! It’s dressy without being fussy and the coat is just too cool. You outdid yourself on this one JoLynne. I hope you are keeping that coat as I would love to see you style it again.

  5. What a stunning outfit!  How do you ever choose what to put together for an outfit?  There are just sooo many pretty holiday tops out there (just from the retailer you picked from) but you always manage to pick just the perfect one!  👌🏻

    1. You’re so sweet. Sometimes it’s a struggle, and I get very overwhelmed. Sourcing outfits for posts is one of the most time consuming parts of this job. But this one was easy! The blouse just spoke to me, haha! I was also shopping in-store, and I’ve found that to be helpful when I don’t really know what I’m looking for.

  6. Ok.., We need a Nordstrom!!  that blouse is so cute I love everything about it, and I love how you’ve styled it. Funny you and Cyndi both had the leopard print coat on the mind today lol… We are suppose to get snow tonight into tomorrow but have no fear our snow usually doesn’t miss us… unfortunately lol

  7. I gave away my Ralph Loren navy peplum, as I thought they were out of style. Then just last night I saw a post on peplums trending again and today you style one. Kicking myself!

You look great in this outfit, it’s my idea of dressed up for a party.

With online ordering of anything imaginable, curb side pick up & one day delivery, text & FaceTime, we are all going to become hermits. Not sure I like the way this world is changing. I can’t remember the last time I picked up the phone to chat. Which begs the question “Why do I even have a landline?” 🤔

  8. LOVE this outfit. So pretty and that coat looks so warm. I love this blouse but I have such a problem in the winter because I find really pretty tops but I get COLD! Even inside with the heat on, I’m cold so the pretty tops just don’t work. I’ve collected a few tops I love but I just don’t wear. I did buy some very thin thermal layering tees from Uniqlo that I can wear depending on the neckline and style but they don’t always work.
