Leopard Print Cardigan Outfit | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

Sweater weather is officially here in Philly, and this leopard print cardigan is the perfect way to usher in the season!

It reminds me a lot of the Barefoot Dreams leopard cardigan that sold out so fast during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but for a fraction of the price.

Whereas the Barefoot Dreams cardigan is more appropriate for loungewear, this one from Amazon is one I would wear out and about.

It’s soft and stretchy, and fairly thick, and I like the length. It’s not as long as some, but it comes down well past the hips and covers the bum if you want to wear it with a longer tee and leggings. It’s true to size; I’m wearing the small.

I styled this leopard cardigan for a casual, everyday look with a white tee, blue jeans, and ankle boots.

These jeans are the rag & bone Nina from the #NSale, so I got them at a considerable discount. They’re fully stocked, but back to full price for the time being.

I’ve styled them a few times, and I really like the wash and the fit, but the 11″ front rise is definitely too high for me to tuck into. All I see in these pictures is my mid-life paunch.

In fact, I almost ditched the whole batch, but then I figured it’s a teaching moment, so here we are. Not only does the higher rise with the front-tuck emphasize my belly, it throws off my proportions.

This tee is rather shapeless, if left un-tucked, so a better solution would be jeans with a lower rise. I much prefer the rag & bone Cate for tucking.

FYI, this pair is 30% off, and the wash looks very similar. I’m not sure what’s up with the measurements, though. Those are not typical for the rag & bone Cate. They usually have a 9″ or 10″ rise, not 8″, but with Nordstrom’s generous return policy, they’re worth a try!

Also, note the inseam is 26″, which is typically more of a cropped fit — but that depends on your height, of course.

My booties are from last season and have sold out, but I linked them for anyone who wants to see the exact details. You may be able to find them on a resale site.

I love the Western details, and the light grey is the perfect pairing for this sweater.

I’m carrying my R Minkoff Love crossbody once again. Oh, how I wish this color weren’t sold out! It is so versatile, I feel like I want to carry it with every other outfit in this series.

There are other colors/sizes available, but not this exact combo. This is the geo quilted Love crossbody (the regular size) in mushroom color, for anyone checking resale sites.

Also, this is my favorite white tee for layering, and it’s 40% off today! I recommend sizing up in these; I have the medium.

I kept my accessories simple with a star necklace and hoop earrings. I’ve been asked a few times about how I choose my accessories.

This look is casual, and there’s a lot going on with the printed sweater so I didn’t want anything too big and attention-grabbing. Sometimes I wear a statement piece and a smaller supporting piece, but this this time I just went for two smaller pieces that complement each other.

I love this easy, casual leopard print cardigan outfit for daily errands or working from home. (I would swap the booties for flats or slippers when at home.) My only caveat is, I wish I’d worn mid-rise jeans.

  1. Love this.  The color of the cardigan is so soft and pretty.  Thanks for being real and I think you look great in this!

  2. Thank you for keeping it real!!! Many of us have body parts we are not so happy with and look for ways to camouflage. You have always been one of my favorite bloggers for that reason. So many feel the need to take pictures in extravagant places on extravagant trips. I personally don’t care. Just show me your styles in everyday places!!!

  3. I’m so excited about your facial. That’s one thing I’ve really missed and desperately need. But wasn’t sure how to do it safely. I’ll have to check around and see what my local spas are doing? Enjoy!
Love the outfit and glad to see you styling an Amazon item. Is the color you have the “white” ?

  4. Cute outfit. I don’t see what you’re talking about (paunch). It would be interesting to see side by side pictures of different rises with the same top to see the difference.

  5. I know that you are going to enjoy the pampering today!  I know that I would feel like spaghetti afterwards and the rest of my day would be a wash.  I like the cardigan, especially the lower price.  Thank you for sharing the pictures with us even thou the higher rise jeans aren’t exactly right, and for explaining why.  It’s a learning for us!  The fall weather has left us for the next 7 days, so the windows are closed and the AC is back on, darn it!  Make it a great day!

  6. Can’t wait to hear about the facial. My Medi Spa offers those. I’m been tempted. Ever since all the mask wearing my chin is my worst area. You must post update!

    Love the sweater and look!

  7. Enjoy the pampering today.  I feel like I need a massage this morning.    My body is stiff    I need to get in my  walk.  Jo Lynne I think you look very nice and you don’t have a paunch at all.  The sweater is really pretty. I like your outfit. Have a really great day at your spa.   Bev Brown

  8. You look great! Can’t see any evidence of a paunch anywhere. Like Barb suggested, it would be interesting to do a post comparing these jeans to ones you prefer. I think we are hardest on ourselves – you look terrific! Enjoy the pampering and let us know what is different at the spa. I’ve put off the dentist (no problems, delaying the dental cleaning) and spa facials for now as our numbers are going up. Bought a waterpik waterflosser device. Wow! I’m impressed. Its what my hygienist recommended. My teeth feel great using it. In case anyone else is holding off professional dental cleaning, its a good option.

    1. Well, it’s there. 🙂 These jeans do hold it in quite well, but it’s still all I can see in these pictures. I will do a comparison with lower rise jeans.

Good advice on the waterpik. I should get one.

  9. I love this look Jo-Lynne! I think you look gorgeous as always, but appreciate that you are always authentic and teach us.  You’ve taught me so much about looking at inseams, rises, etc on jeans and pants.  Thank you for all you do!

  10. Once again you kept it real,,,,we ALL thank you. While I know this is somewhat “embarrassing” it helps us to see your daily struggles and helps us realize we too can look beautiful with our flaws and imperfections when we know how to camouflage them. Your blog is the one I NEVER miss and look forward to each day and then save for future references. Keep doing everything you do,,,all of us out here reading say,,, THANK YOU

  11. Okay, I have a question that may be vague, it may be dumb or maybe you’ll totally get what I’m asking. What’s the best way to shop for clothes on Amazon? Do you see something from Nordstrom and look for similar items? Do you just search “leopard sweater” and a million things come up? Do you stick to certain brands or things with 4+ stars? They don’t have much of a filtering feature so it makes it hard and it’s so overwhelming to me. Maybe you can help! Do you think others feel the same way or is it just me? Thanks!

    1. Not dumb at all. I hate shopping for clothes on Amazon, lol!!! I saw another blogger feature this sweater as a Barefoot Dreams dupe, and I ordered it to see if I like it enough to recommend it.

I do occasionally search for things to feature in my try-on posts b/c many ladies like the ease of shopping on Amazon, but I have to have something specific in mind. I usually order from the Amazon-made lines – Daily Ritual and Goodthreads are pretty dependable for decent quality.

  12. You.Have.No.Paunch. Seriously! That said, I am noticing in pictures of the higher wasted jeans, something about the longer zipper/fly area catches my eye and draws it right to a person’s belly button–so, maybe not so flattering on most people. But, you really are so fit, and I hope you won’t let your clothes make you think you have a flaw you just don’t have. 🙂

    1. You are sweet, but trust me, there is a lot of fluff in this middle. 🙂 I don’t post pictures that highlight it… this is as close as I will get. But that said, it is exactly what you mention that bothers me about this outfit, and tucking into high rise jeans in general — that long zipper/fly area is highlighted, and it is rarely a woman’s most flattering feature.

  13. I had a hydro facial in January and I loved the immediate results in the appearance and texture of my skin!   You’ll have to go again when they can do all of your face!  That sounds perfect to have it combined with a massage!

  14. Hi there … so glad you mentioned the difficulties of proportions with high waisted jeans. I’m having the same problem.

Exactly how high should high waisted jeans extend above the belly button?
