Live Well, Love Lots, Laugh More

Surprise, I’ve got a Saturday post this week!

I wasn’t planning to post today, but as I was looking at my editorial calendar for the next couple of weeks, I realized I have more content to share than days in which to post. So here we are!

I’m always afraid to push outfits out too far because things sell out, and we shot this look last week, so I wanted to get it out to you.

Yes, I realize it’s a small subset of the population who can wear this right now, but intel from the southern United States tells me it’s unseasonably warm down there, so hopefully this look will resonate with someone.

Meanwhile, it’s 25 degrees here in Philly this morning. #brrr

Fortunately, it was a mild 55 degrees the day we shot this look, although it was still chilly in the shade… as you can probably tell by how stiff my arms are, haha!

Anyway, I shared this graphic tee in a recent try-on haul, and it went right into my closet. I think it’s so cute, and I love the fit.

It comes in a bunch of other designs, but this navy one with the colorful sentiment spoke to me. They have more patterns at Boden, but you can also find some at Nordstrom with their free shipping. I have a small, and the fit is perfect.

I paired this whimsical tee with light wash jeans and fashion sneakers for an everyday outfit that’s perfect for everything from running errands and chauffeuring the kids, to working from home and hosting causal get togethers.

On cooler days, I’ll throw my white denim jacket on top.

This one is by Kut from the Kloth, and I really like the fit. It has a nice shape through the waist area, and it’s stretchy and lightweight and comfortable.

It comes in regular and petite sizes, and I have the medium, for reference.

These jeans are my Rag & Bone shredded hem skinnies, and I’ve been wearing them a lot recently.

They have a good amount of stretch to them, but they don’t bag out throughout the day. The shredded hem is a fun detail and is in keeping with the casual vibe of the light wash.

I generally like a lighter wash for spring, but especially with this look.

It provides a nice contrast against the navy of the t-shirt and the white of the jacket, and also ties into some of the colors in the graphic.

For jewelry, I just wore my D Yurman hoops. The buttons on the jean jacket are silver, so I usually try to coordinate my jewelry.

These earrings were a Christmas present from Paul, and I wear them a lot, so I tried to find some similar options for less that I can share when I wear them.

I recently found these fun silver hammered hoops at Chico’s, and this filigree pair from Kendra Scott are really pretty and feminine, but these rope hoops from Talbots look most like mine.

Finally, these sneakers were an Amazon fashion find. They’re a knock-off of the popular Golden Goose brand, but they’re not an exact dupe.

I think they’re fun for casual looks, and they’re fairly comfortable too. The quality is about what you’d expect for $28 sneakers. (Prices vary from $19.89 to $45.99 based on size and color.)

Mine are the Gold, and you definitely should size up a half size, as indicated on the website.

I’m not able to wear this outfit around here yet, but the weather can change on a dime, and when spring arrives, I’ll be ready!

If I were going somewhere warmer for Spring Break, I would definitely pack this outfit. It would be great for a trip to Disney World.

  1. I bought the Boden tee after seeing in your try on haul and it is just adorable and great fit! Thanks for this very cute outfit suggestion ( I also bought the sneakers on your suggestion. They are really cute and shockingly comfortable for cheap sneakers.

  2. Hi,
I love this tee. It was 80 degrees this week and the air conditioning went back on. Today is cool here, but that’s all relative.

I was wondering how you found a reputable company to paint your cabinets. When we redid our kitchen, I chose our island to be a different color than the cabinets. I would now like the island painted white to match the rest of the kitchen. So, I’m wondering how you found someone and what questions you learned to ask?  I have tried to get a hold of our cabinet maker and his is MIA.

Have a fun Saturday with your husband.

    Missy

    1. Hey Missy. I just asked around. I interviewed two – a big painting company (that I’ve used before, and they also were recommended by a kitchen showroom that I talked to – they do about a kitchen a week, so they are pros) and then a small biz owned by two sisters. A friend recommended them, and all they do is paint cabinets. They do about a kitchen or bathroom a week as well. I went with them b/c they were avail sooner, and their quote was a little less (but mainly b/c they were avail sooner, lol!) I think word of mouth is generally the best way to find good people.

  3. Love this cute look.  I used to be a big fan of Boden but haven’t bought anything from there in a while.
My husband and I have those occasional empty nester days and evenings once in a while too and you’re right, it can be a nice day together and a peek at what’s to come.  I vote movie today and then dinner or wine tasting for you guys.  Whatever you do, enjoy!

  4. Such a cute outfit for upcoming spring days. It’s been pretty chilly in South Texas as well. I did order those sneakers in the sliver and really like them so far but I’ve only worn them once. I had to add a thin cushioned in sole but it helped since they don’t have much support. But not bad for the price.

  5. I can’t wait for Nordstrom to offer the free shipping and returns to us Canadians … this is such a cute outfit. Our weekend is the opposite . Our  sons girlfriend is visiting and so we are making it a family weekend with my daughter and son in law as well… outing tonight then family Sunday dinner tomorrow:) enjoy your weekend:)

  6. It’s a bit cool for this today, but if you haven’t been to the Grounds for Sculpture you might want to think about it for the future.  It is just above Trenton and took us about 1 hour and 15 mins to get there from Phoenixville.  Sculptures everywhere (even the trees and bushes) and little areas with scenes set up using sculptures that look like real people!  In fact my hubby was sitting at a bench and people thought he was part of the sculpture!  They have a lovely restaurant as well.  It’s a great day trip.

  7. LOVE this outfit. I bought the same tee before you featured it, Jo-Lynne. I had several Boden tees from last year and wore them a lot, but decided I needed to go down a size from my usual large. I love the fit of the M and the length is better, too. I never dry them. Hopefully, it won’t shrink in the wash, but the ones I had last year seemed to get bigger as they got older. Nope, I wasn’t getting smaller, lol. Anywho, I like the white jean jacket with it. Hadn’t thought that far ahead yet. Enjoy the day with your sweetie, Jo-Lynne!

  8. Cute shirt!  I’m always a sucker for a cute graphic tee,  especially in summer when I can just throw them on with shorts!   I’d love to see a graphic/ statement tee roundup sometime!

Random comment but love your hair in this post!  Don’t know if it’s cut differently or just styled different but it’s very flattering to your face shape!

  9. I hope you and Paul found something fun to do yesterday!  I really like this outfit, but especially the tee.  Cold weather has returned to GA, but the temps are still on a roller coaster.  I think by mid week, the normal temps for this time of year return and will be here for a while.  I hope y’all have a beautiful day!

  10. Try Vintner’s Table in Phoenixville.  Good local winery’s wine bar with charcuterie boards.  Then walk around the cute town and explore.
