LOFT Mosaic Skinny Ankle Pants $18

I decided it was time to add a pair of pants to my spring wardrobe that aren’t jeans. These Mosaic Skinny Ankle Pants are on sale at LOFT right now for $18!!! (They are also available in petite.) Unfortunately sizes are limited, but these Tulip Skinny Ankle Pants are similar, only $12, and available in most sizes at the time of this posting. They are navy, not black, but just as versatile.

The mosaic pattern in these pants makes them fun, but because they're neutral, they are highly versatile. They look great with a black or white top, or you can go for a color -- anything from a bold jewel tone to an icy pastel will be gorgeous with this style of pants.

WHBM Dolman Jetsetter Tee $44 // Dalton Pendant $76 // black patent wedges (old; similar)
Lawson Cuff c/o Kendra Scott // Stella Fold-Over Clutch c/o GiGi New York

For those of you wanting work wear looks, this outfit is perfect for school or a casual office environment, and you can easily dress these up with a silk blouse and a blazer if you want a more professional look.

As we’ve discussed, the ankle-length skinny pant is a huge trend this spring. I love this trend because you can wear them with flats or heels. One reason I’ve stayed away from trousers is because I don’t want to mess with hemming them for a specific pair of shoes and then not be able to wear them with anything else. With ankle-length pants, there is none of that.

For size reference, I usually wear a 29 or an 8, but these pants are a size 6 and they fit perfectly. I tend to be a size 6 in LOFT pants, for some reason.

LOFT Mosaic Skinny Ankle Pants : work wear for women over 40

For this post, I styled my Mosaic skinny ankle pants with a black top, but I plan to wear them with my bright pink Joie blouse when I’m in California later this week.

Black and White Outfit : work wear for women over 40

For jewelry, I chose my Kendra Scott mother-of-pearl cuff bracelet, and I carried my new Gigi clutch. Both were gifted at the rewardsStyle conference a few weeks ago. This clutch is so luxe, and I love that they initialed it for me right on the spot.

I kept the outfit neutral with black patent wedge sandals, but I played around with a pair of bright pink pumps I have sitting in my closet. They are fun with it too. There are so many options!

  1. I don’t always comment but do love your blog. So thanks. I can always adjust what you post to what works for me. And I loved the pic your husband took of your daughter.

  2. Great outfit! I wear my black and white pants all the time. They’re perfect with a colorful top, the possibilities are endless! I also love all the options for these types of pants from Loft, I’m just so unfamiliar with their sizing, I haven’t tried any yet.

  3. Those pants with a white tee (or black) and a jean jacket for different vibe — you could totally rock that 🙂 Have a great time at your conference – safe travels.

  4. Love the outfit on you. I am always looking for work wear and this is perfect . I was just wondering what fit you wear in loft pants? There are so many fits? Thanks so much and enjoy California!

  5. I was just looking at those pants online last night. I ended up not ordering them. However, now that you’ve styled them so beautifully, and given me more ideas on what to pair them with, I’m going to order them. They’ll definitely look amazing with your pink Joie top! Thanks for all of the ideas. You’re an inspiration!

  6. Okay…you’re going to laugh, but that was exactly my argument to my mom when she tried a pair of ankle pants on (the length works for flats & heels). She wanted to lengthen the pair she bought and I forbid it !! Of course she’ll probably do it anyways after the post series is finished –oy!!
But it’s true —that’s the feature that makes them extremely versatile!
And what a great deal for this pair!!

  7. Thanks for showing something other than a distressed look for those of us who need a professional, casual look!

  8. I totally bought these pants a few weeks back and paid 22! Darn lol but I do love them also! They fit so well!

  9. I really like this outfit Jo-Lynne! I need to go to the Loft store and try on their pants so I can see whether or not they fit my shape. I have several tops & accessories in my closet that would look great with the black mosaic print. Fortunately, ON & Loft are in the same outdoor shopping mall, so I can go into both stores with ease. I do have an ON coupon that expires soon. Can’t let that happen!

    Safe travels to CA!

  10. I went to Loft yesterday… I’m a little curvy so I like the Julie fit. Very cute outfit … I really like this store!
