Lord + Taylor Fall Preview

Greetings from Ipswich, Massachusetts! The Maine portion of our family summer vacation is behind us, but we’re stopping for a few days in the Boston area to do some sightseeing and take the kids to see my alma mater.

While we still have a lot of summer left, it’s never too early to start planning your fall wardrobe, especially when you can find quality wardrobe staples on sale.

Lord + Taylor just launched their First Look At Fall event, and you can save up to 40% off next season’s must-have styles through Monday, August 5th, 11:59 PM EST.

When I’m shopping at this time of year, I like to purchase pieces that can do double duty. Ideally, I’ll be able to start wearing them now, and still get a lot of mileage out of them once the cooler temperatures set in.

This BlankNYC moto is made of a lightweight rayon blend so you can definitely wear it now and later. I really love the relaxed styling — it has a nice drape while still being somewhat structured.

For this look, I wore it with a graphic tee and a pair of mid-wash skinnies.

These are the Joe’s Icon Ankle Skinny Jeans, and the price is fantastic for premium denim. They have a 28″ inseam and a comfortable 9″ rise, and the fit is on point.

I love to wear a graphic tee with a jacket like this — it’s more interesting than a plain tee or blouse, and it’s a fun way to express your personality.

This tee kind of cracks me up. I guess every mama is a proud mama, right!?! At any rate, it seemed fitting.

For size reference, I have a small in the tee, a medium in the jacket, and a 29 in the jeans.

I also picked up this Fossil leather satchel to add to my handbag collection.

It’s a great everyday size, and the leather is so soft and supple. The vintage details give it a bit of a worn-in look, perfect for my more casual outfits.

These suede peep-toe sandals are another great now-and-later style that I know I’ll get a lot of mileage out of by buying them early in the season.

They’re extremely comfortable and walkable, with the elastic slingback closure and 2.75″ stacked heel. They also come in brown and taupe, but I chose black because I like how they work with this jacket.

This outfit is perfect for transition season, and each piece can be mixed and matched with other wardrobe basics to maximize their cost per wear.

I love this look — polished but a little edgy, casual and comfortable, while the shoes and jacket level it up for a variety of occasions.

Outfit Details:

BlankNYC moto // Proud Mama tee // Joe’s Icon ankle skinnies // Vince Camuto peep-toe sandals // Fossil satchel // similar pearl earrings

  1. It’s so *bleeping* hot in Arizona and this outfit makes me crave a nice cool day. I love this look, especially those shoes!

  2. I don’t even want to think of fall. Summer is just so laid back and fun.
I love how you bookend your look with the black jacket and black booties. You’re one cool mama!

  3. I agree that outfit is totally you! Also very
inspirational for me . I love the rayon aspect of the jacket. It looks so classy for a change from the faux leather.

  4. The T Shirt is cute..,I need a proud Grandma T Shirt…Lol…Very nice look and I love Lord and Taylor Stores…

  5. You look great in that outfit!  I really like that jacket and went online to order it, but even with the 20% off code, the price didn’t drop to $41.16.  I must be doing something wrong.  Have a great day!

  6. I hope you get to spend time at Crane’s Beach. I now live in Michigan and my family spent Sundays on the beach. I hope you go to the Lord and Taylor in the Prudential Center. Taking the views at the top are wonderful.

  7. Love the outfit. But when I went to purchase, check out would not do a sale price and only applied 20% to full price so not a really good deal at all. I’m sure it’s just a glitch that hopefully they will fix.

      1. Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner! Apparently the jeans are the sale price of $131 but not eligible for the additional 20% off. The items that are eligible are marked under the prices.

    1. Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner! I was out all day yesterday. So it looks like the jeans are the sale price of $131 but not eligible for the additional 20% off. The items that are eligible are marked under the prices.

  8. There are no Lord and Taylor stores in the West and they seem to charge for returns. How do you get around this?I rarely shop at stores on the internet that charge return fees as I return a lot. I buy multiple sizes  a lot as I find sizes vary.
Maine is so beautiful. We used to have a summer home on one of the numerous lakes when I was growing up. Such great memories!!

  9. I love your whole ensemble!  I think I would add a burgundy/wine coloured handbag at times, instead of the black, to add a pop of colour, since the shoes and jacket are black.  Nice to have you back after your wonderful vacation🙂
