MDW Steals + What I’m Buying

Greetings on this Memorial Day Monday! I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend.

On Saturday, I rounded up what I consider to be the best of the MDW sales, and I’ve made a few updates, so feel free to reference that before you shop.

Today I’m sharing some of the best steals and deals that I’ve come across in my own shopping endeavors, and what I’m buying in preparation for 22 Days of Summer Fashion, which starts next Monday!

Yes, Cyndi and I are bring back our seasonal fashion collabs! At least, the summer one. I think Cyndi said it best when she said we are both craving some normalcy right now, and 22 Days of Summer Fashion feels normal to us. It’s been nice to have a break, but I’m looking forward to posting more outfits.

If you’re new here, 22 Days of Summer Fashion is a style challenge where Cyndi Spivey and I each style a new summer outfit every weekday during the month of June. If you have any requests — events you have coming up, or clothing items you’d like us to style, let me know!

MDW Steals

It can be overwhelming to weed through all the sales, so I decided to highlight a few of the best deals I came across as I was shopping this morning.

Sorel Ella Crisscross Toe-Ring Sandals

Shoes & Sandals

I fell down the rabbit hole at Sorel.com. They have such good quality, comfortable shoes, and they’re up to 40% off! I’ve added them to Saturday’s MDW Sales roundup. Here are those, plus a ton more great shoe buys I found this weekend.

Tops & Bottoms

LOFT has updated their promo for today and tomorrow. You can take an extra 70% off 4+ sale styles, 60% off 3 sale styles, or 50% off 1 or 2 items with code SUMMER. Free shipping on orders $49+, and free returns on all orders.

Plus, White House Black Market is doing 40% off, Talbots has a big summer savings event going on, Ann Taylor is doing 60% off full price styles and an extra 70% off sale styles, Vince is doing 25% off, and there are so many more. I rounded up my top picks below.

Beauty & Accessories

Elemis has Buy Two, Get One Free with code MEMORIALDAY, and Colleen Rothschild has some special Memorial Day Deals + 15% off everything else with code HONOR15. I like both of these skincare brands a lot. I also found my go-to curling wand set at QVC for $50 off!

Two of my favorite handbag brands are doing big events — Tory Burch has 25% off select styles with code TOGETHER, and R Minkoff has up to 65% off select styles.

What I’m Buying This Weekend

I’m using the stellar sales this weekend to prepare for 22 Days of Summer Fashion. Below are some of the things I’ve ordered to try.

Before we fire up the grill or head out to our favorite picnic spot, let’s all take a moment on this Memorial Day to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom to do so. I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing Memorial Day!

  1. Thinking about ordering the sorel sandal…I am a size 7.5 or 8, do you find sorel to run a little big or small?

  2. I started to read today’s post and had to go back to yesterday’s coffee talk to find out what happened to Ozzys. I thought he had died. I’m sooooo sorry about your allergy and having to find him a new home. Of all dogs to be allergic to. My daughter and husband got theirs because of their dog allergies. They aren’t allergic to golden doodles. I’m so sad for you all and Becca as they become a family member so quickly. It’s not the same to visit someone who now has your dog but I’m glad you found a good home close by so you can see him grow up if you want. Maybe Becca could house/dog sit for them when needed.  Your family has been through their share this year for sure. Hope more opens up for you soon. I just got a text yesterday from my hairdresser to schedule first week of June. I missed text and 4 hours later responded. She already booked up until June 11.  :(. Not sure how I’ll wait almost 3 more weeks. Ugh. We are friends so wish she had called me when I didn’t answer. She’s calling if any cancelations but I doubt that. Today is gloomy here but yesterday was nice and we spent the day with my daughter, her husband and my grand baby. Much needed. Just home today and need to go visit my dads grave. Prayers for you all for Paul’s dad and Ozzy situation. Also for your health. Get well soon. Our Summer weather comes tomorrow and I’m ready.  Now I can read your Memorial Day post.

  3. Just ordered the metallic scallop slides from Rack. Been eyeing those for months, great price!
    Thank you!

I’m so sorry about your puppy, such a difficult situation for you and your family. You exhibit Gods grace through your sharing and writing. Hang in there and may God bless.

  4. An idea….with so many events being cancelled or postponed – replacement outfits?
In my particular instance my son’s September wedding with 130 guests is probably being changed to an immediate family only lakeside home wedding with the big event in a year. The formal dress, shoes, purse I have already purchased won’t suit the new event this year. So ideas for still being “mother of the groom” (or bride) suitable but downsized to a more casual, intimate event. (full wedding hasn’t been postponed yet, but with each passing day it is looking more likely to happen 🙁 ). Nothing like planning for two events not knowing which one will actually be happening.

  5. So many great items! Did you share where you got the white sleeveless shirt in the first picture? Maybe I overlooked it…it’s super cute.

  6. Thanks for the restock alert! I was able to snag one of the last 2 of the cheetah print Rails jackets.  I am the person who is always cold and I’ve had that one one my wish list since you first featured it.

  7. I’m super excited for your 22 summer days of fashion with Cyndi. I’d like to see jumpsuits styled casual and dressed up and shorts styled casual than dressed up like a side by side comparison. Would also like maybe a swimsuit one too and flip flops for just around the pool nothing to expensive for those days at home. Glad your all having better days:)

  8. I read you all the time and I’m sorry but did something happen to Ozzy? I don’t know how I missed it.
I love your blog and it has become one of my very favorites. You’re so down to earth and normal!
    Take care.
    Michelle

  9. I’d like to see some skort posts. They’ve had a bad rap and I’m not sure why. I think many women love them as they’re cool, comfortable and a great alternative to shorts or capris in the summer. Kelly at Adore Your Wardrobe discussed the benefits of skorts that was really good information. Enjoy your company today!

  10. Hope you decided to go on your drive today you had hoped for. Might do your family good to get away from the house.

  11. I am sorry for the loss of your father in law.
Sorry, to find out about Ozzy.
I hope you are feeling better.
    Have a fun day!

  12. Thank you for putting this together for us!  I can’t wait to see the outfits you and Cyndi create. If denim vests are current, I would love some outfit suggestions.  I’m thinking that it could be paired with similar pieces that I’d wear with my denim jacket, when this heat and humidity are gone.  We don’t have any plans for today, but we are definitely remembering those that made the ultimate sacrifice for us.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

    1. Hi Ginger! I’ve seen a pic on Pinterest that is cute – a sleeveless black maxi with a denim vest, might be a cute way to style it!

  13. Looking forward to the 22 days of summer outfits!  So glad you are doing this!  Hopefully, we will have loosened some restrictions in our county soon, so we can actually be out and about to wear some cute outfits.  We are still under a no gatherings outside the household rule, and have been since March 23rd. We are hoping to get to Phase 2 soon, where we are allowed to be in a gathering of 5. We are having the same issues as Sharon, with my daughter’s wedding in September being downsized to immediate family in a more casual setting.  They will have the larger ceremony next year.  So now the hunt is on to find another, more casual, dress and shoes, and save my more formal dress for next year.

  14. Idk if anybody else is in this dilemma but I’ve been job hunting during all this.  I always struggle with interview attire in the summer bc it’s too hot for blazers.  A simple blouse seems doesn’t seem professional enough.  Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome!

    1. I have the same dilemma when traveling for business meetings in the summer (not that there will be any of that happening this year, from the looks of my calendar). Depends on the industry, but I work at a financial services company in a corporate function, and for larger in-person meetings, I can get away with a silk shell or even a nice Pima cotton scoopneck tee, simple jewelry, black trousers, and a lightweight jacket in a pale gray or tan (Ann Taylor’s seasonless stretch or cotton sateen jackets aren’t terribly warm, and there are usually some good 3/4 sleeve options, too). Maybe that would work for you? Good luck!

      1. Good idea! I hadn’t thought about a 3/4 length blazer, that would definitely work, especially if it was a lightweight fabric.  Thanks for the suggestion!

  15. Dressing for summer while surviving arctic air conditioning.  Layering that doesn’t look like fall and winter.  As someone else mentioned skorts. I love them but others do not. Am I aging myself?

On another unrelated note. I would love to see another post on what you really kept in your closet from all the posts. Perhaps that is related you could do it after the month with Cyndi because we know you don’t keep everything.

Finally another post I would love to see is what we can buy in the off season sales that you predict will still be in style/on trend this fall.

  16. So very sorry to hear about the loss of your father-in-law—thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And it’s heartbreaking that you had to find a new home for Ozzy, but as someone who’s allergic to cats and to most dog breeds, I completely understand—your health is vital. Hope you can visit Ozzy often—he is a sweetie!
