Mocha Trousers

Greetings and hello Monday! I woke up to a cover of frost this morning and the most gorgeous sunrise over our backyard. I posted a picture on my Insta Story. It’s another 27 degree morning, and I have a photo shoot today, so that should be fun. Ha! We’ll be shooting some holiday looks and some cozy winter outfits, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, I have a work wear look today featuring these straight fit trousers in a gorgeous shade of beige they’re calling frosty mocha.

I know I’ve been wearing a lot of Loft lately, but that’s because they’ve been running a 40% off sale, and I like to post outfits that include some sale pieces when I can.

The rest of this look is from my closet, and sizes are limited, but hopefully this gives you some inspiration to shop your closet, if you’re looking for some work-friendly looks.

The piece I’m most excited about is these trousers. They’re fully stocked and 40% off with code WORKIT.

They have some stretch to them, so they’re very comfortable, and they’re true to size. I’m wearing a 6 regular, and the 32″ inseam is perfect with my favorite pumps. These pants also come in petite, tall, and plus sizes.

I’ve worn this cowl neck top before, and unfortunately there are only a few sizes left in the forest green, but I love how it works with these pants, so I went ahead and wore it anyway. I have the size small, for reference.

I also think a burgundy shell would be great with this look. This satin pleated blouse comes in a pretty shade of wine red, and it also comes in army jacket green, which is close to the color of the top I’m wearing here. Another nice option is this silk roll cuff top.

This jacket is an older Caslon piece, and it’s pretty much sold out. This one is similar, but I can’t speak to the sizing. It says to size down, but the one I’m wearing runs small because I’m wearing the medium.

I really like these knit blazers. They’re so comfortable, and they read a little more casual than a classic blazer, which works well for my style aesthetic. Here, you can see the gathered back panel — a feminine detail that keeps this jacket from being too traditional.

I didn’t want to wear a long necklace with this cowl neck top, so I went with a smaller piece that fits in the neckline. I’m super excited to tell you that this pretty silver beaded necklace is back in stock and on sale. I don’t think it will last long — there were probably a few returns because it was sold out for a while.

I find myself reaching for this necklace a lot. I like how it is delicate but not a pendant, and it’s also adjustable so I can make it work for a variety of necklines.

My earrings are these hammered disc drop earrings from Kohl’s, and I also find myself reaching for these often because they go so well with this necklace.

Finally, I carried a black bag and wore black pumps because I like how they echo the black from the blazer, and I figured I’d keep this look conservative for work wear. That said, I think leopard pumps would be amazing with this outfit!

  1. That is a super flattering outfit!  I am wearing pants a little more frequently, especially to church, so I will have to check these out with the hope they’ll look half as good on me!  Love the knit blazer as well!!

  2. This is a very nice work outfit!  And the sunrise picture is so pretty.  We are in the 50’s with rain, and it’s supposed to be a wet week.  Have fun doing the photo shoot.

  3. I have to say you certainly look like a boss in this Jo-Lynne!! Very professional and very on top of your game!!
That’s why I didn’t throw out all my blazers when I retired…they seem so perfect for many days!!

  4. Do the pants bag out as you wear them? I have a pair of Banana Republic about that color that unfortunately do that.

  5. These trousers are gorgeous! I work part time at The Loft and these are great! I’m not sure why they are online only. Great outfit 🙂

  6. I’m so glad you styled a black knit blazer. I just purchased a black ponte knit blazer from Old Navy and needed some ideas on how to style it. Your outfit looks great!

    1. Not much, but I like to have a couple basics. I have an off-white one that I would wear more if I could find a similar one to link to, lol. #occupationalhazards

I think this one will be nice with jeans sometimes, with a printed top, or even over a white tee.

      1. Would love to see them more too. They’re still very much “in” for workwear though.

Remember trouser style jeans? Late 80s or early 90s I think. 🤔 I loved them with a heel and a blousy top. 😊 They were very flattering on everyone – designers should bring em’ back!

  7. Ootd  Enjoying my burgundy puffer vest charcoal grey sweater and black AG jeans today but ouch I messed up on my socks looking dorky w my black booties. Thought I’d share and give u a laugh and they r blue stripes-ouch 😰😂

  8. This is a very spiffy outfit! I like the way you have paired the neutrals beige and black. I never think to do that. I also love it when you wear green. That shade is so pretty on you!
I love green, but the various shades can be tricky.

  9. Jolynne, how do you decide on the fit of a blazer?  I get the feeling I am buying mine too big. I always feel like if the shoulders are in the right place and the sleeves the right length and the jacket buttons that is the right fit. When I look at other people with blazers on it seems like they couldn’t get the blazer to button in the front. Is either way right?

  10. This is a great work outfit and you look awesome! I am also looking forward to seeing the holiday shoot you mentioned!
