I just picked up this merino marled cowl-neck from Banana Republic because I wanted something cozy and comfy and not too form-fitting. I love it, but it definitely is not what you’d call slimming. It has pockets that make the waistline bulge a bit, but my hope is that it looks better in person than it does in photos. I wore a cream-colored tank underneath because it’s a bit on the short side.
I decided to go for the monochromatic look, so I paired it with my gray fine-wale corduroy skinnies and gray UGGs. I plan to invest in a pair of cream-colored boot socks before I wear this outfit again — I think that would provide just the break I need between the the gray jeans and the gray boots. (Pay no nevermind to the pile of laundry in the background! That’s just how we roll around here.)
I wear this sweater A LOT. It’s so comfy and easy to throw on with so many combinations of pants and tops. I wore it on Saturday to our church’s Christmas brunch with this magenta modal/polyester top (from Banana Republic a few years ago) and velvety-soft black corduroy skinnies. I decided to try the outfit with my Dansko Buffy ankle boots — find out how to WIN A PAIR!!
I’m actually thinking the ankle boots would look better with tights or leggings, rather than jeans. The bunchy jeans and the bunchy boots seem to do a lot of, I dunno, bunching down there.
Don’t you just love my attempt at studied nonchalance? Ha! Oh, I accessorized with a long silver necklace, chunky hoop earrings and beaded bracelet.
Another day this week, I wore the same sweater with straight-leg blue jeans, a black tank, and a plum scarf. I wore silver ballet flats because it was a mild day, weather-wise. I think I wore this to volunteer at my kids’ school.
And this I wore the day my car broke down. Waaaah! It’s also the day I got my hair cut, which is why it looks funky. You know how they never style it like you do!! I picked up this teal long-sleeve tee at the LOFT one day when I dashed in to get the poncho. This was on a rack by the sales counter, and I grabbed it while I waited and added it to my purchase. I’d been wanting another option to wear with these tan cords. It’s so easy to throw on, and it’s also a great layering piece. I didn’t want anything to interfere with the detail on the neckline so I put on a simple chocker-style silver necklace that is an oldie but goodie. (Also, chocolate brown suede boots from Nine West.)
Here’s a close-up of the necklace and the neckline.
And that’s all I’ve got for ya this week. For more outfit inspiration, visit The Pleated Poppy, Glamamom, and Momma Go Round.
Love that necklace with the detail on the tee.
Sorry about your car! My favorite of these is the cardigan/scarf/jeans/flats look. I am a sucker for purple.
I have a black cowl neck that is kind of cropped like your new one….thanks for showing me how to wear it better! You might get a laugh over my skinny jean saga. http://liveyourloveoutloud.blogspot.com/2011/12/fat-ass-skinny-jeans.html
Cute outfits! I would say my fav was number 3. I love the flats and the purple scarf!
You look so cute. Love the first outfit! You always look super stylish 🙂
Ha! If only you could see me on the days that I don’t take pictures. 😉
What I love is that you’re not in straight blue jeans every day (like me).
The holiday header is so pretty!!
I am REALLY going to try to get a better sense of style during the week…that is my New Year’s Resolution! I always love your outfits and it is starting to light a fire under my rear to get in gear and go through my closet over the holidays!!!!!
