Mom Style | What I Wore This Week 02.29.12

For more outfit inspiration, check out all of my Mom Style posts.

This is more of a What I Wore To Blissdom post than anything, because I’ve been wearing yoga pants ever since I got home. (True story.)

I actually wore yoga pants ON THE PLANE. I’ve never done this before, but I’m here to tell you, it’s incredibly liberating! I’ve always been one to dress nicely when I fly, but I notice more and more women wearing comfy clothing for plane travel, and I decided to join them and I’m not going to apologize for it either.

WHAT!???

They are NICE yoga pants, not my pajamas.

But anyway. As you will soon see, I more than made up for my yoga-pants-wearing ways while I was at Blissdom.

I arrived late afternoon on Wednesday and quickly changed into the gray “bat sweater” with the purple tank and black boots to go downtown Nashville for dinner. I went to Big River Grille with my roomies, Lisa and Christina. I didn’t get a picture in Nashville, but it’s this exact same outfit. I even remembered to bring my boot socks and silver necklace. Will wonders never cease!?

Thursday was the first day of the conference, and I broke out my raisin-colored jeans and the asymmetrical sweater with the black tank. I wore black ballet flats instead of boots because I was trying to follow my own advice. See #2.

Lisa gifted me with this gorgeous necklace, which I’m sure you’ll be seeing A LOT.

It fit perfectly in the neckline of my sweater.

Thursday night was the opening night party, and we all got glammed up. I wish I had a photo of my roomies that night, but we didn’t think of it. They looked AH-mazing. I wore my Elie Tahari silk top with black skinny cords (they’re such a fine-wale, they’re almost like velvet) and black suede pumps. I’ve only ever worn this top with jeans, and I like it this way for a change. Earrings and necklace by Stella & Dot.

Friday I wore my orange Free People sweater and brown suede boots. The only photo I have is with Christine. Isn’t she adorable!?

Friday night was another big party night. I wore my Milly dress with suede pumps this time. I felt fantastic.

On Saturday I wore my gray drapey and red jeans with the black flats and my Encircled Earrings and Necklace from Studio Jewel. Ignore the stupid look on my face. I was talking while Lisa was trying to take my picture. I loved carrying my Kelly Moore Libby bag. I carried it every day. It holds EVERYTHING, and it’s so gorgeous. I got compliments on it wherever I went.

I wore the same outfit home on the plane on Sunday.

I haven’t been much into getting fancied up since I got home. I’ve been in recovery mode. I did manage to get myself into a cozy sweater and boots yesterday to take the kids to the dentist. OUCH. That was painful (on the pocketbook, that is).

I know this isn’t the most flattering sweater. Those pockets at the waist add unnecessary bulk. But it is cozy, and I think (I *hope*) it looks better when I’m moving around in it than it does when I’m standing stock still, looking straight at the camera.

Style tip: when your sweater is too short, wear a tank or a t-shirt underneath it to extend the length of your torso and give your body the proper proportions. Remember the rule of thirds.

  1. I’m so envious of your ability to wear skinny jeans! I’m just not long and lean enough to really pull them off.
    Lookin’ good!

  2. I love these posts and pics. I was born without the fashion sense gene. It really helps me to get ideas from your website, even though I’m not shaped anything like you! Thank you for sharing some great ideas.

  3. Every time I see your boot socks, I think, ” I must get some.” Then I promptly forget too…until I see you wearing them again! Must remember to get some. So cute!

  4. I wore my yoga pants to go home on Sunday. I don’t actually ever do yoga in them, or anything strenuous, so they are in good shape. And I was very comfortable. I wish I had taken pics of myself at Blissdom, I wore cute clothes. 😉 Oh well, I’ll just have to take pictures when I wear them again. I am so jealous of the new necklace. So classy but different.
