Mom Style | What I Wore This Week 04.25.12

For more outfit inspiration, check out all of my Mom Style posts.

It’s been another crazy week, weather-wise. And otherwise, frankly. But let’s stick to fashion, shall we?

I wore this on Saturday to run errands and mostly work from home. We entertained friends that evening too. This ruffle-neck tee from Banana has been a summer wardrobe staple for years. I never get tired of it. I wore it with my usual cuffed jean shorts (they’re Joe’s, these are similar) and then I used my earrings and flip flops for a pop of turquoise. The handbag is fun and whimsical.

Stella & Dot’s Charlize Tear Drop earrings are always a fun addition to a neutral outfit. I particularly like them with black.

This was another one of those chilly, rainy days, and I just wanted to be cozy. The only place I went all day was to drop my daughter off at school. She is six, and as we walked out the door, she took one look at me and said in a voice that is surely a preview of the teenage years: “Mom, slippers? REALLY?”

She’s six. Yeah, I’m in for it.

These Athleta Organic Cotton Salamba Pants are my best friend these days. The striped tee is from Gap, and the pink cardi is Banana. Slippers are Uggs, and yes, I DID wear them to take my daughter to school. I’ll turn in my fashionista card now.

This next outfit I wore to the mall shopping one day — denim pencil skirt from LOFT, pink Scoop Twist Front Tank from Old Navy, and white hooded zip-up cardi from Banana with necklace and bracelet from Silpada. The slouchy handbag is Lucky Brand and the flips are from Target.

I wore this working from home and meeting a friend for lunch on a dreary, drizzly day. It’s super casual, but I do love this pink top from Old Navy. The navy sweatshirt is a nice lightweight style, perfect for spring — an oldie but goodie from Gap. And I wore my favorite jean shorts and green Privos.

I wore this CAbi dress to church on Sunday. It was quite cold and rainy, so I dug out my black boots. I still don’t love this dress; it’s an awful lot of pattern for me, but I needed something that fit this bill so out it came!

And finally, this outfit is what I wore to my PSMM Workshop on Monday night. It was so cold and rainy, ohmygoodness, it was all I could do not to wear my warmest fleece sweatshirt and Uggs. I DID break out my winter parka after we took this photo.

The asymmetrical cardi is by Theme, and the black tank is by M. Rena — both from a local shop. The bootcut jeans are my favorite Joe’s (they were given to me  several years ago for review, and they’re still going strong!) and the boots are at least five years old as well. They’re Nine West and still look like new. Love them. I accessorized with a statement necklace from Studio Jewel — a gift from my friend Lisa. I carried my coral bag for color.

Aaaand those are my daughter’s sneakers sitting there by the door. Cause we’re classy like that.

  1. You look adorable as usual! Love your daughter’s comment, too cute. I just have boys and they’ve been pretty much oblivious for most of their life. I really need to start posting WIWW again soon.

  2. Your weather is even crazier than Texas weather it seems. Although, we were in long pants, long sleeves and jackets at the baseball fields last Friday. Very unusual for here. But the next day was sunny and warm. I am looking for some bermuda length denim shorts. Unfortunately Joe’s are out of my price range.

  3. I think that dress looks terrific on you. Very flattering cut and the pattern is great. I recently bought a similar dress and was afraid it was too much pattern for me too, but I got several compliments on it. Nicole – I just bought a pair of shorts that look almost just like Jo-Lynne’s… At Walmart! I’m sure Joe’s are super good quality, but the Walmart ones work too;)
