Mom Style | What I Wore This Week 05.02.12

Holy macaroni, it is May. HOW did that happen??

I spent half of the past week in Disney World, thus the crappy iPhone hotel room photos.

I wore this outfit one day last week before I left. The weather was pretty mild — not hot, but not cold either. I wore my favorite cuffed jean shorts with a red-white-and-blue tank from Old Navy (I know what I’m wearing on the Fourth of July this year!!) with a lightweight navy blue “slub” cardigan. Necklace by Grace Tags, purse is Lucky Brand, and sandals are Fryes.

The next day I left for Disney. I don’t have a photo of my plane outfit, but when we got in, we changed right away for the beach party that night. I brought along this long flowy CAbi skirt and a black tank. I have always liked the IDEA of this skirt, but it has so much material in the waistband, I can never seem to get it folded in such a way that it doesn’t create added bulk in the waist area. The second I got back to our room, I took it off and gave it to Mel, LOL. I love that Studio Jewel necklace with the black tank, though.

The next day was the conference day, and the dress code was “resort casual.” I’m not quite sure what that means, but it felt like a good day to bring out my red skinny jeans. The navy-and-white top is from Old Navy, and I decided to go for it and wear my wedge sandals.

Fashion Tip: 3/4-length sleeves are universally flattering. They end right at the waist, calling attention to your smallest part. (I read that somewhere once, and I can see how it’s true in this photo.)

The next day was our Wild African Trek. We were warned to wear closed-toe shoes and long shorts or pants. It was hot, so I pulled out yet another Old Navy tank (I racked up at Old Navy this spring!) and my faithful cuffed jean shorts. My Privos filled the closed-toe shoe requirement without resorting to frumpy sneakers, and I wore my JanMary bracelet, which pulled together the coral from the top and the green from the shoes! (The purse got stuffed in a locker while on the Trek.)

That night I changed again for the party at the new Art of Animation resort. I wore my white ankle-length skinny jeans (Gap) with my favorite black top (Banana) and silver flat sandals (from Target) — everything is from years past, so no links, sorry! I wore my Studio Jewel Encircled necklace and earrings and a wide silver cuff bracelet and my white watch. I had to carry that same white Lucky bag, because it is all I brought, but I was wishing I had a bright-colored clutch to carry.

Finally, back at home, this is another one of my casual work-from-home outfits. The shirt and tank are from Old Navy last year, and you recognize these shorts by now, I’m sure!!

Yesterday started out cool and rainy so I put on my green jeans with a navy-and-white striped tee and my navy club cardi, but by the end of the day I was too warm for the sweater, so off it came. Please ignore the discarded K-cups in the background; we save them for compost.

  1. Looks like you had fun at Disney! 🙂 I love the travel photos because I never know what to pack.

  2. Just had to pop over from Reader to say I love that 3/4 length outfit on you. The color, the stripes, the shape, it’s one of my favorites on you so far!

  3. Coral looks good on you! I know it is supposed to be a universally flattering color, but it just doesn’t work well for me.

  4. I’m really liking your hair lately, and man I LOVE that black Banana Republic tank you’ve been wearing. It’s just perfect and the pairing with the white jeans is super classic awesome!

  5. YEAH – my bracelet made it to Animal Kingdom 🙂 You have no idea how happy that makes me feel – however my bracelet is having better vacations than I am!!!

I am jealous that it is mild enough to wear shorts at home – up in Philly – obviously temperature was not a problem in Florida, or at least chilliness wasn’t the issue!
Here we have had a cold wet April – brrrr!
Finally – love that iphone case!

  6. I have to say the red jeans with the striped top is my fave. I was taking cell phone pics of my outfits at Mom 2.0 in the mirror too 🙂
