My Afternoon Off

So my afternoon off was a challenge. Who knew I was so dependent on the computer?  I even had to turn it on twice after I turned it off — once because I got an email that I needed to deal with right away, and again when I thought of something I wanted to reword in that last post.  I couldn’t leave it alone.  Yes I am THAT anal.

HOWEVER.

I got outside with my girls, took a walk in the glorious sunshine and unseasonably mild temps, and discovered a neighbor friend with her kids outside enjoying the day as well so we hung out in her driveway for a bit.  It was delightful.  I even brought my sorely neglected camera along.  One of my goals this year is to learn how to take really awesome photos.

Trying not to look at that gray tooth. (We went to the dentist — everyone was right; there’s nothing they can do of course. Ugh!)

Outside Photos

I’m suddenly all into these artsy angled photos.

When she saw this picture, my daughter said, “Are the only pictures of me with my helmet?”   Um, yeah, sorry about that.   Funny, I had the same reaction when I discovered that fact.  And of course there are no pictures of my son, helmet or no, because he was in school.

Back home, I worked on my Bible study in the quiet of my living room — the only clean room in the whole house.  I tried to pretend the rest of the house didn’t exist.

There was plenty I didn’t get to.  I never touched the laundry.  I still haven’t unpacked from my weekend.  And I didn’t finish my Bible study.  But it was good to turn off the computer and just let the flames die out, with the intention of not touching it again until after dinner.  I found that I wasn’t hurrying through my other tasks, eager to get back online and keep the fire burning.  I just took my time and enjoyed the calm.  After dinner I hopped on for a bit but then I traded my seat in front of the computer for a seat in front of the TV.

Was anyone else less than impressed by American Idol last night? Those sing-offs were such cheesy contrived drama.  And HOW could they kick off the African American guy who is best friends with the guy who lost his wife (he’s my early fave, by the way — the guy who lost his wife.)  And WHAT is up with 36 semi-finalists this year?  Three nights of 12 songs?  Just give me a glass of wine and wake me up when it’s over.

Hey, was anyone looking forward to my American Idol recaps this year?  I’m not sure I’m up for it.  I’m still trying to decide.

I know I’ve said I’m done posting about Blissdom, but I’ve seen some really fun Q&A posts from other Blissdom attendees, so if you have any questions for me about Blissdom, I’d be glad to answer them!

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful afternoon….great…its always nice to get to do nothing…its not often that gets to happen…

About American Idol…I agree with you about the African American guy…I was hoping he would get to stay with his friend….and what the heck was up with them keeping that crazy crazy Tatiana chick????Holy crap she is so annoying

  2. Even if you didn’t get everything you wanted done, you got a recharge and that is just as important. Plus, the outside time with the kids is so much fun! I wish it was warm enough here to do that.

I have way to many questions about Blissdom. I don’t even know where to begin!

What is the most important lesson you learned?
Who is the blogger you met that you were the most excited about?
What was the highlight? The low?

  3. Love the pix. And thanks for letting me stop in and chat after my walk – I needed that.
I still don’t recall why I told you that story – ugh I hate when I do that!

  4. Looks like it was a beautiful day! I really want to take better pictures too. I think I need a better camera though, really. My old point and shoot is about four years old and has been put through the ringer!!!!

Blissdom…….what aspect do you feel was most beneficial? The actual content of the sessions or the networking that was done in between?

  5. I totally agree about American Idol…I don’t think I can sit through all of those singers again…36 is too much and they let allot of really amazing people go…so disappointing!

  6. What great pictures.. I love the angles. I’m going to have to try that. What beautiful girls.
I agree with you about American Idol. I was sad that the guys friend (whos wife died) didn’t get to keep going.
