My Daily Looks: What I Wore

I’ve been doing these posts for years, but I’m going to try to be more regular with them and post my daily looks every other week on Wednesdays starting in September.

Who remembers What I Wore Wednesday? It was a linkup run by Lindsay over at The Pleated Poppy, and it’s pretty much what got me started sharing my looks. Her linkup is now defunct, but I figured Wednesdays would be a good day to post my daily looks.

These posts basically answer the question: What do you REALLY wear? (Yes, I get that a lot!)

MY DAILY LOOKS: WHAT I WORE

Let’s just jump right in! This first look is one I wore to run some errands and try on clothes at Loft and White House Black Market last week. You can see that Try On Post HERE, if you missed it.

This linen top is from LOFT, and it’s as old as the hills — I can’t even remember what year I got it. I usually wear it a lot during the summer because it’s so easy to throw on with pants or shorts, and it’s loose and yet still flattering. It’s one of those pieces I just can’t part with, even though I can no longer link it. #sorry

The rest of the outfit is all stuff you’ve seen before. Shopping links are beneath the pictures.

This was my date night look for our anniversary dinner last week.

I got the earrings and bracelet at White House Black Market, but the earrings aren’t online, which is a real bummer because they are PERFECT with this top. They were on clearance, so I guess they’ve been taken off the website.

This next look I wore to the grocery store and to host friends by the pool last Friday night. I usually keep it casual here at home, but I decided to level it up a bit.

On Saturday, we went down to see D’s new apartment and ended up going out to lunch. I kept it casual in my AG Prima jeans and a Gap tee.

I realize the price tag on these jeans is steep, but I got them during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ll keep an eye out and let you know if they go on sale again.

I wore this tried and true dress with my trusty denim jacket to church on Sunday. The dress is only available now in solid navy, but that’s a great option if you need a go-to casual dress.

This is a good example of how I mix metals in my jewelry and accessories in a subtle way. My silver shoes coordinate with the hardware on the jacket, but the bag has some gold hardware, so I wore a few mixed metal pieces to tie it all together. My necklace, watch, and bracelet are all a mix of gold and silver.

I will admit, I struggle with these silver shoes because most of my bags have gold hardware. I know it’s not supposed to matter, but it does bug me if I don’t intentionally add some mixed metal pieces to tie everything together.

Boden Melinda dress (TTS or size up if in between) // Vince Camuto denim jacket (size down if in between) // similar silver wedges // Tory Burch McGraw crossbody // Anna Beck pendant (less expensive option) // Tory Burch watch // Stella & Dot cuff bracelet

I wore this next outfit to the mall on Monday to make returns and do some back to school shopping with R. I was planning to do more try ons, but I never got around to it.

Any-who, this is another old shirt that I can no longer link (evidently I can’t part with linen tees!) It’s a Joie top from the #NSale a few years back, and ironically, these cargo pants are Joie as well. Again, they’re pricey so I’ll keep an eye out for sales. Meanwhile, I linked a few similar for less options.

I wore this on Tuesday, but I didn’t look this good! I didn’t to my hair or makeup, so I borrowed this pic from another day. (I believe I threw it on Sunday after church.)

These shorts are on constant repeat with several of my favorite tees and tanks. Even if I wear something nicer to go out and about, I often change into these when I get home. They fit a little big, which I like, but that can be dangerous — it’s too easy to overeat!

J.Crew raw edge tank // BlankNYC shorts (TTS; wearing 29) // TB Miller sandals (similar for less)

And finally, this was yesterday, working from home. I went to put on the same jean shorts as above, and I decided I should put on something cuter for Instagram. Honestly, if left to my own devices, I’d wear the same three outfits over and over all season.

These pants are on sale at Macy’s — they’re the same brand and color as mine, but they have a traditional sewn hem. They’re thin and stretchy and comfortable, and they run true to size.

  1. I’m excited about the changes.. and change on occasion is good:) I can’t imagine trying to come up with a different outfit for everyday of the month.. for a season( I mean there’s only so many options and colors to work with and trends)  so I’m sure switching things up will be a relief. I agree fall and Christmas seem to be rolled up into one now and I feel sometimes everything is a bit rushed… I’ve also noticed though how quickly things sell out once bloggers start posting to so if you snooze you lose. I have favorite repeats also so I’m guilty of reaching for the fav items. I heard someone on TV say the other day “ we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time. I guess this means I don’t need to over spend lol. Well have a great day… and I love the try on sessions hits and misses so bring them on:)😀

    1. Yep, I’m sure that is true. Also, I think most people keep clothes a lot longer than they should. I’m always weeding things out, and I still probably only wear 50% of mine 80% of the time.

  2. I’m excited for your changes and the collab from you & Cyndi! Always good to keep things fresh and interesting! I love the fact that you still wear some old favorites! I’m almost embarrassed to admit this but I had been wearing a very, very old fleece jacket from the 1980’s! It was the most comfy thing ever and I only wore it when I would get exceptionally chilly in the house in the fall and winter! It never saw the light of day in public! It was 34 years old and I finally tossed it out this past Spring!! I hope I don’t have regrets when the temps fall! LOL I can’t even imagine what the cost per wear was on that thing! Some items just happen to serve us a little too well! 😂

  3. I really like what you and Cyndi have planned for the fall!!  While for me, as a reader, what y’all have done in the past wasn’t broke, I think change is good, especially for the two of you.  And I like that you will be sharing what you really wear, and that the Coffee Talk on Sunday’s is not going away.  That post makes me feel like we are sitting in a coffee shop chatting.  Have a fabulous day!

  4. There are two things that I know for sure: no matter what changes you make on your blog, I’ll always read your posts and I’ll always learn something. Thanks for all that you do.

  5. Your changes and schedule for fall sounds perfect! I’m excited to see the outfits, try-on hauls, and content you will come up with for this fall!

  6. Excited for all the changes and like most other ladies, no matter what you do I will keep following along and reading! 🙂

  7. These are some great changes. I love that you and Cyndi will be working together. you ladies are a Dynamic duo i love it when you post the same outfit but in different ways. I love that what you show on the blog are for the most part your real clothes.  im also happy coffee talk isnt  going away

  8. All the changes sound good to me, but I like reading your posts all the time. I love how you put on some jewelry no matter what you wear. I am trying to do that more. I tend to forget to do that if I am just running errands or having a few friends over for a casual get-together. Time to step it up (and clean out my closet.)

  9. Your different collaboration with Cyndi sounds fun.  As well as your other changes.  I will always read your newsletters and blog no matter what.  It’s a highlight of my day!  I do enjoy these daily wear posts!

  10. I love a good wear it now/ wear it later, or two ways to wear that same piece. I hope your changes free up some personal time for yourself. They all sound doable and as everyone said, we’re here whenever you are.

  11. Yay! I am so happy about the upcoming schedule! So glad you are allowing time to have a life and still be committed to helping all your fans!! Time is really flying by! Before you know it, it will be Christmas!
Thank you so much for all you do..
    Blessings xo

  12. I look forward to now/later but really wanted to say how much I look forward to your Sunday posts. Surely I’m not the only one!

  13. I love this post that you do. As many of your followers have already stated, I too get comfortable wearing the same outfits. But, with looking at your daily posts, I have ventured out of my comfort zone and purchased and GASP actually worn some of the different styles. So happy you and Cindi will be together this fall. Have a great day!

  14. I echo what the other ladies have said, I like your plans and am a loyal follower.   : )

This was a good post.  It’s fun to see what you really wear.  I always dress, jewelry, hair & makeup even though many, many days I am just home.

Gotta go try on my Loft delivery from your recommendations last week!

  15. Hey JoLynne! You have me almost sold on those Paige cargo joggers. I read a couple of reviews that said they were “heavy?” I was surprised to see that since you’ve been using them as a summer pant! Do you find that to be the case? Or are they breathable despite alleged heaviness? Sincerely, a Friend in San Diego with Two Months of Summer Left. 😉

    1. I guess I know what they mean… but they never feel uncomfortable or hot. I’m also pretty cold natured, but you live in an area that doesn’t get super hot, I believe? I think you’d really enjoy them. Size down, they tend to slide down — they don’t bag out, but they tend to slide down as I wear them, even in the 28 (and I am ALWAYS a 29 in Paige.)

  16. Hi Jo-Lynne, I enjoy all your content and appreciate your hard work. I stopped at Loft today and bought several items (including the floral mixed media blouse). They are offering a 15% discount for teachers that runs through September 2nd! You can show ID badge or provide school email as “proof!”

  17. JoLynne, this is one of my favorite styles of posts as I struggle daily with what to wear. Of course, I could stand to loose a few pounds. You appear to have lost weight. Those dresses on Instagram you tried really looked amazing. Sincerely

  18. I just ordered the floral mock tank from WHBM. So pretty I couldn’t resist especially since you mentioned the sale.
