My Daily Looks: What I Wore

Greetings and happy hump day! Every other week on Wednesdays, I share my daily outfits from the past few weeks, and it’s that time again.

My Daily Looks: What I Wore October November 2019

My usual disclaimers apply: I live a very casual life, I’m most comfortable in skinny jeans and sweaters, and I don’t mind repeating items or even entire outfits. This is about what I really wore, not about sharing a ton of variety.

My Daily Looks: What I Wore

This first look dates back to last Wednesday. I had an appointment with my podiatrist in the afternoon, and our community chorus rehearsal later that night. It was a mild weather day, judging by my t-shirt and denim jacket with cropped pants.

FYI, my NYC tee is 30% off with code FRIENDS and 40% off for J.Crew Rewards members with code FAMILY. I recommend sizing up if ordering. I usually wear a small in tops, but I needed this in the medium.

The next outfit is what I wore on Thursday to Bible study and then to the nail salon. (I go every other week and get a gel manicure.)

I’m currently on the lookout for similar grey jeans in a higher rise. These are starting to look dated to me, especially with the belt, which seems to emphasize the low rise — partially because it draws attention to that area, and also because it covers up the waistband of the pants so there’s less material showing.

My sweater is loosely front-tucked, by the way, and it’s TTS. I have it in the small.

Also, I’m super psyched to find these mules, which are very similar in styling to mine. I LOVE mine so much, they’ve been a favorite since Day 1, but they’re a few years old so no longer available anywhere.

Remember in Monday’s post, when I said my grey jeans have been on constant repeat lately? Yeah . . . I wasn’t kidding.

I wore this next outfit to run some errands on a Friday afternoon after doing a bunch of try-ons.

This sweater is from the #NSale, and it sold out. It’s simple but sooo cozy and warm, and I love the modest v-neck.

That night, Paul and I decided to go out to eat while the girls had plans with friends, so I switched into this jersey tank and cardigan as well as heeled booties, for a little more of a dressed-up casual look.

You guys!!! This sweater was restocked LITERALLY two seconds ago. Earlier this morning it was only in XL. If you’ve been wanting it, grab it now! I have the small, for reference. If you’re petite, you could size down; it runs a little big.

This is what I wore when we took the girls out to Lancaster County to a farm/fall festival a couple Saturdays ago. The leaves were at their peak, and it was a really pretty drive out into the country.

I’ve been enjoying this rust color a lot this fall, but this is yet another #NSale sweater that is gone now. 😕

I rounded up some other options for you. This cashmere sweater at Lord + Taylor comes in a pretty shade of rust, and it’s marked down to $59.99 — today only, no code needed! This is actually a great basic cashmere crewneck sweater that comes in tons of colors. The v-neck is included as well. I recommend sizing up in these.

Other rust-colored sweater options I found are this one at Everlane, this one at Madewell, and this and this at Old Navy.

The next day was a rainy Sunday — like serious downpours all morning. I built this next outfit around my rainboots.

For those looking for a go-to neutral fall bag, I recommend checking out this leather hobo.

It’s a great everyday size, and I like how it’s not as slouchy as some hobo style bags, which keeps it current. The leather is buttery soft, the color is a great light neutral tone, and it’s currently on sale for $88!!!

And this next outfit was for a lazy Monday at home and a trip to the vet with our Savannah.

I absolutely love the wide v-neckline on this sweater, and it’s a nice length for us short-waisted gals too. I have the small, for reference.

And my AG Primas from the #NSale finally sold out, so I’m linking to this similar pair.

And that brings us to last Tuesday. I wore this for the rest of the day, after a morning photo shoot. Same jeans as the day before but a different pullover. #ifitaintbrokedontfixit

This sweater is really soft and comfortable, and it comes in 5 colors. It’s made of rayon, polyester, and nylon — so no wool for those who are sensitive!

And this next outfit is very similar to the two before it . . . I changed to a different pair of jeans, at least!

I wore this all day last Wednesday and then to the Sixers (NBA) game that night. (I did switch to a crossbody bag for the game, though.)

I love the idea of a cashmere hoodie — it’s a great juxtaposition of luxe and sporty. Since mine sold out, I rounded up a few other options for you.

Bloomies has this one on sale right now — it comes in 3 colors but not navy. This one at Naadam is really gorgeous, but pricey. It comes in tons of colors, and it’s a sustainable company. I also like their ribbed knit version — the camel color looks particularly luxe. And this one at NakedCashmere is also pricey, but you can get 10% off your first order if you sign up for their emails.

For non-cashmere options, there are a few sizes left in this wool-blend hoodie at Banana Republic on sale for $44 (final discount taken in cart) and Amazon has this one for under $40.

This was last Thursday — Halloween. It was a dreary, rainy day, and I skipped out on Bible study and worked on the blog most of the day.

I threw this on to run my daughter to a doctor appointment later that afternoon, and then I wore it to hand out candy that night — but I switched to flats once I got home.

And this was Friday. I wore this most of the day at home, and then out to dinner that night with Paul and C. This sweater is on sale, by the way!

I wore this next look on Saturday morning to a ladies’ event at our church, and I think I was at home for the rest of the day so I removed the vest. That night I made chili, and we hung out here with the kids.

By the way, I found this puffer vest for $39 at Saks Off Fifth! It also comes in burgundy and white, and I have it in a small.

And that brings us to Sunday . . . This was my church outfit. You can see more of it in this post.

This cardigan is super cozy, but a little pricey. I recommend waiting for another Anthro sale.

On Monday, I had an appointment in the morning and another in the afternoon, and I spent the rest of the day working on the blog.

Is it helpful to see more than one angle of these looks, or is one enough? Sometimes I take more, but I usually end up feeling like they’re overkill and just pick one.

And finally, this is what I wore yesterday. I was at home all day, except to play chauffeur to my busy teens, but I always feel more productive when I get dressed and look put-together. Plus I was dying to wear this new sweater.

It’s really soft and comfortable, and it’s currently 30% off with code FRIENDS and 40% off to J.Crew Rewards members with code FAMILY. It runs TTS; I have the small.

  1. I love your style and I’m so grateful at this point in my life that I work in a very relaxed environment. So somedays it’s jeans and a tee….others it’s nicer pants and a blouse…in the summer capris.  I’m blessed…I work at a church as a children’s minister.

One thing I so appreciate you saying today is that you repeat wearing various pieces of clothing…that’s what most of us do.  I love clothing and accessories, but often find myself wearing the same 4 pairs of shoes…or the same 3 pairs of jeans, etc. I have good closet space, but who ever has enough?

As I’m aging, and looking toward retirement, I want less “things” to handle, wash, clean, etc. I keep saying I’m going to start eliminating clothing, shows and jewelry first,  we shall see….Lol.

Have a great day.,,thanks for your realistic approach to life and sharing your great taste.

  2. your shoe game is strong! Truly it makes each of these outfits so much better (not that they aren’t great to begin with). Thanks for sharing and providing inspiration! xo

  3. Love all your great sweaters for cold weather! What is the best way to wash/care for them? It seems to take a while to line/air dry.

  4. Is your navy Everlane sweater new or from a previous year? I have 3 of these bought over the last 2 years (I love cotton sweaters) and they seem to have gotten very wide as they aged. I don’t wash them often and when I do, I follow the directions. Just wondering.

I agree that the lower rise gray jeans look dated when worn with a belt. I’m also looking for a pair of high rise gray jeans. Going with the high rise style seems to be the best way to combat the annoying issue of sagging/baggy jeans for me.

    I love Wednesday posts!

    1. It’s from last year. I haven’t washed it many times – maybe only twice? I do notice what you mean, that it has the potential to “grow” but so far it still fits pretty much the same as when I got it.

  5. I always look forward to your Wednesday posts! It’s nice to see what people wear every day at home. The side/back photos are always a plus, I like to see how a top or sweater looks from those views.

  6. I love seeing these everyday outfits.  Sorry to see the Rebecca feedbag was sold out, bummer.  BTW, have you noticed the trend in white boots for winter?  I’m not sure if I can get onboard with that look.

  7. Hi Jo-Lynne, these are great casual chic looks and easy to recreate at home! I love the Kent Colorblock cardigan from Madewell! Colorblocking is a great trend for this season. I’m always looking for other colors to style it with. Besides a white tee-shirt, what do you like to wear it with?

  8. Are the Jeffrey Campbell booties in 2 of the pics actually gray or are they the taupe? Every time I check, they never have gray.

    1. They’re actually a very similar style from last year, but not the exact same bootie. The taupe color is the one I have in mind when I link them. It looks very similar to mine.

  9. I just love seeing what you really wear!  I am fine with just one picture of each look unless there’s special detailing that another angle would show. Are the chairs new that Savannah was laying on?  They are so pretty!  I hope you’ve had a good day!  I’m in a hunting box now, waiting on deer and/or pigs to show up in the food plot.
