My Daily Looks

It’s been quite a while since I posted one of these, but I’ve been saving them up, so today I’m sharing my daily looks from the past few weeks!

Let’s just dive right in. I wore this first look to church a few weeks ago. I had nursery duty, but we were going out for lunch after, so I tried to wear something practical enough to sit on the floor and hold babies, but also nice enough to go out to eat with friends.

I’m so annoyed that this top sold out so fast. I love it with jeans — both blue and white — and I hate wearing clothes I can’t link, but sometimes I keep things because I like them too much to part with them. #fashionbloggerproblems

Speaking of things selling out, my sandals went on a super duper sale, and the silver promptly sold out, but they also come in black, sand and white. Also, the Sam Edelman Regis has a similar look, and they’re on sale for $49.

I wore this one day when my daughter had friends over to swim. It was a warm day, but I must have had an errand to run that morning, thus the jeans. Plus they’re just so comfortable; I often wear them when I’m going to be inside most of the day.

Anyway, you’ve seen the top before — it’s an Old Navy find, and I wear it a lot with a variety of bottoms.

I love how it skims the body and has a flattering cut through the waist, the length is perfect for leaving untucked, and it’s sleeveless but the armholes are cut so that you don’t have to worry about bra straps or that flabby area around the armpit… ifyouknowwhatImean. 🤣

This is an outfit I wear a lot, in various iterations. This tie front tank is really cute with shorts, jeans, skirts… any bottoms, really!

I have it in the small, and I’d say it’s TTS. If you size up, it will balloon out at the waist, and that’s never flattering. I washed it on cold and hung it to dry, and it didn’t shrink at all, but you can always iron it if you need to stretch it back out at all.

Also, these shorts are 40% off at Zappo’s and 25% off at L+T but sizes are limited at both retailers. They’re also at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, but full price.

This is another church outfit. I can never decide if I prefer this top tucked or untucked. My proportions look better from the front when I half-tuck it, but then I always feel like it looks weird from the sides and the back. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love the color, though, and I got a bunch of compliments.

I also love how these earrings coordinate with it. They’re old, but these are similar (they may be a bit smaller) and I also love these.

According to my Instagram caption, this was a dreary weekday. This stripe top is so fun, although it’s probably more flattering on someone with a smaller chest, and I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of these crop jeans. I really like the cut on them.

Both pieces run a big large. I have a small in the top and a 6 in the jeans.

I don’t remember where I wore this — but I love the denim jacket with this skirt and a white tank. You may remember that I featured the skirt with a different white top and flat sandals during 25 Days of Summer Fashion.

I like it even better with these wedge sandals and the denim jacket. Also, the way this tank is cut lower in the chest area is much more flattering.

I wore this next look to host friends in our backyard one Saturday night a few weeks back. This floral tie neck shell is one of my summer favorites, and it’s 50% off this weekend.

The pink jeans are from a couple years ago, but these are the exact same color — Pink Sunrise — they just don’t have the released hem. They also have a higher rise, but if you like the look, they’re very similar, and also 40% off.

And I have no idea when this was, but it’s sort of my go-to whenever I’m feeling super casual and have nowhere to go. This tank is the size small, but I like the fit of the medium better. And these sandals are so comfy and fun. I get a lot of compliments when I wear them.

And here’s another church outfit — I guess I wore white jeans two weeks in a row. Is that a fashion blogger fail? Haha!

I dressed up this ikat linen tee with white jeans and block heel sandals. I feel like this outfit was more flattering in person — the top fits close to the body without being too clingy, and I like the cut of the sleeves and the rounded neckline.

These sandals are super comfortable for a high heel. The straps are soft against the foot, they have a nice stable block heel, and they’re currently 35% off! Also, they don’t look nearly this yellow in person. I’m not sure why they photographed that way. They’re more of a nude/blush.

I’ve actually worn this outfit a couple of times over the past few weeks. I absolutely adore this side tie tee. I know I have a ton of tie front tops, but the way this one is placed on the side makes it so much more flattering than the rest, in my opinion. I also like how the rounded neckline isn’t a super high crewneck, but it’s still modest.

There are tons of colors to choose from, but these tops are quite thin, so if that worries you, go for a darker color. It runs TTS or a little big — I have the small, and it washes up really well; I hang it to dry.

Still loving my cargo pants, but they’re not currently on sale anywhere. They run large, I suggest sizing down or going with your smallest normal size; I have the 28.

Here’s that side tie tee again with denim shorts.

This was another casual day at home. I also wore this tee with jeans and a cardigan on the plane to Maine.

I wore this next outfit to see Cats in Philly last weekend. I thought the leopard top was appropriate! I brought my denim jacket in case it was cold inside the theater, but I didn’t need it.

Also, this necklace is so cute. I love how it fills the neckline and takes the guesswork out of a layered look. I have the silver, but it also comes in gold.

And this is what I wore to my 2nd cousin’s wedding in Maine last weekend. It’s hard to believe that was just a week ago! Unfortunately this dress sold out because it’s really flattering on and very comfortable.

Monday was my birthday, and my husband took me to lunch at the Capital Grille. I wore this floral top again, this time with white jeans and blush suede pumps.

This necklace was my birthday gift from my mom. Lagos is a Philadelphia based designer, and I have a couple of his pieces. They’re a nice alternative to D Yurman — not quite as pricey, but in the same ballpark, and I like that they’re not as common, although I’m starting to see them more and more.

Sorry for the weird bathroom lighting, but I love how the colors coordinate with my outfit, ha! Also, I should have tucked my top in a bit more. It’s hanging out kind of funny.

And this was July 4th! We hung out at home all day and hosted friends in the afternoon/evening for a cookout. It was super hot and humid, so I went for casual and comfortable. I thought these colorful slides were a fun touch, since I don’t have any red in my closet.

And that’s a wrap! Whew!!! I didn’t realize I had so many outfits saved up, or that it had been that long since I did one of these posts.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I’m planning to work most of the day. I’m trying to get ahead for next week because I know it will be nuts with the NSale madness, and we are leaving for a two-week vacation next weekend. #holdme

Fortunately I enjoy my job, so I don’t mind working on a Saturday. Have a good one!

  1. Great post. Thank you. Have a great rest of weekend. I felt like yesterday was Saturday. Long weekend.

  2. Love your “realness “!  And your everyday outfits.  You always manage to give them just that little extra pizazz!  I’m loving that aqua floral top and anything in pink that you style.  Also that floral skirt with the denim jacket, 👍🏻  I’m hoping for a relaxing weekend, pool time with the grandkids & getting the laundry done ahead of time! #excitingtimes. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. I enjoy the variety of your blog and the way you make it easy to navigate if I go back and look for something. I used your Father’s Day ideas and was very happy. I love that you change things up and yet there is consistency about what you do and what to expect. Hope the feedback is helpful. Will you be sharing your vacation packing any time soon?

  4. Where do I begin!  You do look so pretty in that coral colored top!  I can see why you received so many compliments.  So, it’s all your fault 😉.  I do not pay over $40 for casual tops, but you just had to share the pretty striped flutter sleeve top from Nordstrom again.  The stripes are great colors for me to wear, so I followed your link to look at it.  Of course, there were only 2 left in my size, so I pressed the ‘checkout now’ button because I knew if I hesitated, it would be a goner.  But, I have decided to remove at least one top from my closet that isn’t in my better colors.  Really, “thank you because I loved that top the first time you shared it!”  I wish the black side tie top you have was thicker fabric because I think it would be perfect with my maxi skirts.  Wow – a 2 week family vacation!  That sounds awesome.  Have a productive day!

    1. I hope you love that pink top, Ginger! I’m a fan of the one in, one out rule. Definitely helps keep the closet under control.

Yeah, we’ll be gone almost 2 weeks (it’s 12 days, I guess, including travel days) but we’re stopping in Boston on our way home from Maine. I’m looking forward to it!

      1. I need to make myself follow the same rule – 1 out every time 1 is added.  I did just pull out 6 tops to add to the 2 already in the donate pile.  Going to Boston will be so much fun!

  5. I know I’ve said it before, but your posts are always so much fun to read! I love all your captions for each outfit and what you like and don’t like about them.  I especially relate to all your “everyday outfits” since I don’t work outside the home.  I followed your link for the J Crew tie front tank, but they didn’t have my size.  However, I did end up finding a very similar one with sleeves on clearance.  Which, for me and my arms, is even better!   Ha

  6. I am new to your blog and I am loving it – also love your down-to-earth vibe!  Just ordered the side-tie tee.

  7. Hey Jolynne!! As always I Love your Posts. I don’t know if it’s any iron clad rules about shorts after 60 or 70. I’ll be 70 in October. Will you give your ideas about that. I am 5′ and have a 28″ inseam. If I wear shorts too long I look it doesn’t look good to me. If I wear them to the tips of my fingers they look too short. Never a Dull moment. I loved your posts about the different kinds of shorts and lengths. Anyway, just curious. Hope you have a Wonderful Vacation!!

    1. I think it’s definitely a person by person situation — mid-thigh length is generally most flattering. And yeah, when you are shorter, you can go shorter on your shorts without looking inappropriate. So at 5′ I would think a 4″ inseam would be about perfect.

  8. Just a quick question… the colorful slides you wore on July 4th, are they comfortable? And did you need to size up or down? Thanks!

  9. Love the red skirt with the wedges! Didn’t like it as much with the flat sandals… I guess I can’t get into the bodycon dresses and nicer skirts/dresses with flats… just doesn’t look right to me… just my opinion but I’m more of a dress up any chance I can kind of person!! And, of course, LOVE that navy dress you wore to the wedding… beautiful on you!!

  10. The Joe’s shorts are 40% off at Macy’s (they have sizes up to 29).  I just ordered them! I think they look great on you and fingers crossed they work for me, too.

  11. My favourite outfit is the one you wore for your birthday lunch with Paul. That shell looks gorgeous with your white jeans.

  12. I’ve been stalking that J. Crew vintage tee in a couple of colors, hoping it’ll go on sale, but so far, it’s been excluded. Fingers crossed for a good sale soon!

  13. Hi Jo-Lynne. Thank you for sharing your daily looks. It is so fun to see new outfit ideas. I hope you and your family have a wonderful trip to Maine!

  14. Hi, Jo-Lynne, I’m a “few” years older than you, but I just adore your fabulous style! We’ve booked a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands for our 40th wedding anniversary next spring & I just got your 4-tier seashell necklace; won’t that be perfect for the islands? I know it’s 8 months away, but time sure seems to fly & I think it will be here before I know it! Please don’t ever change. You are the best!
