My Disjointed Thoughts on Blissdom Thus Far

1. I accidentally wrote Blissdom Thus Fart in my title.  That made me giggle.  I clearly have the sense of humor of a 14-year-old boy.

2. Meeting people face-to-face that I’ve only known online is surreal, enlightening, and strangely natural.  I’ve hugged more necks than I can count, but that won’t stop me from trying — Sarah, Shannon, Melanie, Jenny and Emily, Robin, Jill, Marcy, Jordana, Moriah, Kristen, Steph, Arianne, Lori, Beth, Alli, Meredith, Amy, Malia, LisaB, Stephanie, Kimba, Emily, the Nester, and Dawn.  And I’m sure I missed someone, so I apologize in advance.  **UPDATE — I don’t know HOW I could forget Amanda, one of my longest bloggy friends!!!  LOVE her.

I’d love to list the names of the hands I’ve shaken, but I don’t dare even attempt that. Suffice it to say, I have met so many extraordinary, smart, creative women.  I’m truly in awe.

3. I’m thoroughly impressed with Barbara Jones of One2One Network and R Weeks Watson of Real Girls Media.

4. Having my own laptop at a conference like this is invaluable.  THANKS, HON!!!!!!

5. Hearing my husband’s voice over the phone this morning, and his interest and support in what I’m doing this weekend is an incredible blessing.

6. I am thrilled to hear from corporations who are interested in collaborating with bloggers and are doing it in a thoughtful, respectful, and creative way.

7. I’m tweeting what I’m learning in the sessions.  You can follow me on Twitter at @dcrmom.

8. A half-hour in the silence of my hotel room with room service for lunch is heavenly.  But I can’t wait to get back downstairs and mingle some more.

9. Maria Bailey wasn’t here, but her book, Mom 3.0, is the perfect post-Blissdom reading material.  I brought it with me to read in the plane, and it’s all about marketing with moms with new technology.  It’s a must-read.  She was also generous enough to sponsor my trip so I could be here.  So I owe her a HUGE thank you!!

There is so much more I could say, but I need to take a break and eat my lunch.  Tune into Twitter for more updates this afternoon!

  1. I’m so happy for that you are having such a wonderful time in Nashville. I so wish I could be there. I’ve been catching tweets here and there. There’ve been somce great ones! Have fun and say hi to people for me!!

  2. OMG I am loving your tweets. I was really sad I couldn’t make it but I really appreciate that you’re passing on what you’re learning. 🙂

    Keep having fun!! xoxo

  3. Oh. You deleted the original number 4 that was there in my reader but not here.

I was coming over to say that I was glad you were brave enough to post that.

I’m glad for your that you got a few minutes alone with room service. When I used to work and had business trips, I loved room service. It is a good way to recharge.

  4. OK. I have read your title twice and both times I swear it said, My DISAPPOINTED thoughts…

ANYWAY…I still haven’t had a quiet minute to process everything. But I will be going back thru your tweets/notes! 😉

SO GLAD we got to meet “irl”!

  5. Great list and great meeting you at dinner, although where was my limo home? 😉

I’ve started on my recap….there is so much to cover.

It was a GREAT conference, wasn’t it?

Psssstttt….everyone come to Nashville next year!

  6. I loved the tweets from you and the other Blissdom attendees. All very useful info – thanks for passing us homebodies those tidbits. Can’t wait to hear more about your weekend!

  7. I have “Mom 3.0” on my bookshelf. It’s calling my name, but I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet. I could use a few extra hours in my day…

Tell us more about the “corporations.” What companies were there and how are they collaborating with bloggers? I’d love to hear more about it.

The “room service in your hotel room” part sounded very nice indeed. I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed at BlogHer last year and one afternoon I just took my lunch and went to my room to relax. It was lovely.

  8. Stephanie – great questions! The corporations there who were the most vocal were Little Debbie and WalMart. Barbara of One2One also had a lot of input on her panel about working with companies. There are really a lot of interesting ways they are collaborating. That could be a whole post! Hmmm….

  9. Loved meeting you in person Jo-Lynne even if only in passing! I was pretty overwhelmed meeting so many phenomenal women and I’m sure that I looked like a deer in the head lights for half of the weekend! I’ll see you at Blog Her! 🙂

  10. Okay, so I linked up my blog to appear in my notes of Facebook. So, here is my question – is that a great idea?

It looks like I am just posting notes in Facebook, so why would my friends go and visit my blog if they can see the posts right there? They can’t really tell it is coming from my blog from the way it looks.

    Hmmmm. What do you think?

  11. Janel, I’m not sure. What I do is, when I have a post that is worthy, in my opinion, of posting on my Facebook page, then I post a link. It takes an image from the post or my blog to put with it, which is kind of fun, and the first sentence or two and then links to the blog page. That way you get the traffic to your blog, and new people might discover it. I would definitely go that route.
