My Favorite Way to Wear Leopard Print

I’m a huge fan of leopard print shoes, and I love my leopard clutch, but I think my favorite way to wear this popular print is in a top paired with a neutral jacket and jeans for a fun night-out look.

Last year I had a leopard cami that I wore a ton, but I didn’t like how I had to wear a strapless bra with it if I wanted to be able to take off my jacket. So when I saw this bra-friendly leopard tank at Banana Republic this spring, I snapped it right up, and I’ve already worn it several times. For size reference, I have it in the small.

The bad news is, it’s sold out in most sizes. But the good news is, leopard print is everywhere this spring, so there are lots of other options out there.

There are still a couple sizes left in this one, and if you don’t mind a camisole, Banana has this one and Leith has this one. I found this one at Kohl’s that looks quite similar to mine, and Loft has a long sleeve leopard blouse that would also look great with this outfit, as well as a leopard linen tee.

This jacket is another BlankNYC find from Nordstrom. I love the ponte fabric. It’s soft and stretchy and so comfortable to wear.

It’s also very flattering due to the structure and fitted shape, and I love how the zipper details gives it more of an edgy vibe.

I often get asked about fit with jackets like this. I don’t worry about being able to zip it up. I can zip it, but it would be snug. I prefer my jackets to fit close to the body, and I always leave it unzipped anyway, so I usually buy the size that just fits.

This is a medium, for reference — the size I always wear in BlankNYC jackets.

The jacket is cut slightly higher in the back, which I don’t mind, but I’m not loving how this blouse looks underneath it. I think it would look better if I’d tucked it in all the way around. I’ll remember that next time!

As for the rest of the outfit, I went with black jeans and black ankle strap sandals, and I carried a black satchel.

I almost wore black pumps, but I like how the sandals make the outfit look more like spring. Either totally work; it just depends on the weather and where I’m going. I find it easier to walk in these sandals than pumps, so I usually opt for the sandals when the weather is conducive.

They were definitely a splurge last season, but I’ve already gotten a ton of wear out of them, and they’re a classic that I’ll have for a long time. Other good options are the Sam Edelman Yaro sandals or the Steve Madden Carrson. Target also makes a similar pair.

I wore this exact outfit to a business dinner in Arizona last month, except I wore my leather jacket instead of this ponte style, and I carried a black WOC (wallet on a chain).

I also wore this blouse with a taupe moto jacket, these black jeans, and my black pumps to dinner with my in-laws a few nights ago. I might try dressing it down a bit with blue jeans next time I wear it. I also think it would look great with white jeans and my taupe moto.

Of course, you could also introduce a color, but for some reason, I prefer wearing my leopard tops with neutrals.

  1. GM! It’s so great that you got to enjoy some girl time with your daughters. My 22 yr old lives at home and commutes to her university but I can’t remember the last time we watched a tv show/movie together. Between her boyfriend, work, school and girlfriends, mom is now at the end of the list. So pls relish in the time you have with them. I have a question for you. We are attending a bridal shower for my stepdaughter next weekend and it’s going to be at someone’s home and possibly out doors, so I need advice on what to wear? It’s still in the 60’s and 70’s in South Texas and it’s in the evening if that helps?

  2. This is a very nice outfit on you!  Thank you for providing information on size selection of the jackets like this one!!  I hope the family outing to the mall this afternoon will be fun and productive.  I’m sure that David has enjoyed being home, but I bet he’s ready to get back on campus.  That’s the way our granddaughter is.  Cooler temps are back, which I don’t mind, but it’s a bit of a shock to the system after the few weeks of spring like temps.  We actually have 7 days ahead with no rain, but the pollen count is awful.  Enjoy your day!

  3. You hit the jackpot 🎰 with this one!! It’s gorgeous on you!!! Definitely getting the top!! Loved your InstaStories about your vacation. Showed my husband and we are booking one to take our granddaughter. Thanks for sharing!!

  4. Love everything about this. I think this is the best outfit I’ve seen you in. It’s my favourite style of dressing.
