My New Summer Skincare Routine: Philosophy Renewed Hope Collection

It’s been a long, difficult few months, hasn’t it? I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering what else 2020 might have in store for us.

While we must stay informed, it’s also important to know when to take a step back, make some time for yourself, and practice self-care. And as we head into the warmer weather (yay!) it’s also a good idea to reassess your skincare routine.

I tend to be very dry in the wintertime and need richer creams and gentle exfoliants, but I’ve been looking for some lighter products to use now that summer is turning up the heat.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been using the Renewed Hope Collection from the Philosophy brand that were sent to me by Ulta Beauty. This includes their Renewed Hope in a Jar Water Cream, Peeling Mousse, and Renewing Dew Concentrate.

If you aren’t familiar, Philosophy is a wellbeing beauty brand that uses dermatological science and the power of nature to transform the skin.

These products are 30% off at ulta.com for a limited time, so this is a great time to discover a new brand if you’re looking to level up your skincare routine.

I’ve been using the Renewed Hope in a Jar Peeling Mousse two or three nights a week.

This 1-minute peeling face mask uses a combination of exfoliation and an exclusive enzymatic complex to virtually grab on to debris that can build up causing dull skin, and then it visibly rolls away all those impurities.

The result is smooth, glowing skin that feels soft and smooth to the touch. It’s recommended for all skin types, and it isn’t drying at all.

I follow that up with Renewed Hope in a Jar Renewing Dew Concentrate.

This is a serum that helps to further smooth your skin and restore radiance and hydration to tired skin, and it should improve the look of fine lines and diminish uneven skin tone over time.

It contains vitamin C and vitamin E, both powerful antioxidants that help protect your skin against harmful environmental aggressors, repair skin damage (hello, sunbathing in my 20s!), and reduce the signs of aging. Yes, please!

You just put a few drops into your palm, and then smooth it all over your face, neck, and chest. Just make sure to avoid the eye area. I use this every night before my moisturizer.

Then, I follow that up with the Renewed Hope in a Jar Water Cream. I think this is my favorite because it smells soooo good.

This product is formulated with a hydra-glow complex containing Norwegian glacial water, enhanced hyaluronic acid, and pineapple extract.

It’s actually been proven to increase your skin’s hydration by 86%, and it lasts up to 72 hours.

You simply apply it to your face, neck, and chest, rubbing it in gently… and don’t forget to inhale. I love the scent. It’s a little stronger than some of my other products, but it’s so pleasant that I don’t mind.

This cream is super lightweight and absorbs quickly, and it has a bit of a cooling sensation that feels really nice, especially this time of year.

It also leaves your skin perfectly primed for makeup, so you can use it morning and night.

All three of these Philosophy products are Hot Buys at ulta.com right now, so you can get them for 30% off through Saturday, June 20th.

Let me know if you try any of them, and what you think!

  1. Would these products still get rave reviews , if not sponsored ? Just curious if they have good results .  Thank you .

    1. You might consider reviewing Jo-Lynne’s About tab where she discusses sponsored products and her commitment to only working with brands she trusts and loves and giving honest feedback on all products sponsored or not.  As a long time reader of her blog, I really appreciate Jo-Lynne’s frank reviews and genuineness.

    2. Hi Marianne, I guess this is where you have to decide if you trust my integrity or not. 🙂 I’m very pleased with them so far. I’ve been using them for about 2 weeks.

  2. Hi JoLynne,
I had some questions about this skincare line. Does it focus on sagging aging skin?
    It it lightweight and organic?
Also I remember you did use and sell Rodan products
Did you find anything you like better than them?
Do you find this line comparable?

    1. Hey Shelley, I would say these products are less of an anti-aging line and more about restoring moisture and radiance to the skin. The face mask also helps with texture. I use it a few times a week, and it keeps my skin feeling smooth to the touch. It’s definitely lightweight, but they don’t say anything about it being organic.

  3. I have not used the water cream, but I use the renewed hope in a jar with spf 30 every morning and really like it. Thanks for reviewing philosophy!

  4. Hi Jo-Lynne! I have been a daily reader and cult follower on all products and fashion for 2 years. Could you share the current eye cream you have been using? Your pics have been flawless:) Thank you in advance.

  5. I ordered the Dew Concentrate. I hope I see a difference. My skin seems do dull lately. Thank you for the recommendation.
