There is nothing like local strawberries in the height of strawberry season, but these nutritional powerhouse fruits are far too delicious and good for you to limit to the two weeks a year that they’re in season so sometimes I will suck it up and pay the big bucks to buy strawberries from across the country in the dead of winter. So much for that carbon footprint! It’s not easy on the pocketbook either, especially since I almost always buy organic strawberries because they are the perfect little sponges to soak up nasty chemicals. However, every once in a while, this decadent treat is worth it!
Strawberries never last long in my house. The way my kids fight over fresh strawberries, you’d think they’re a bag of Oreos or something. Here’s a list of 16 strawberry recipes, in case you’re feeling the need to celebrate this impeccable fruit during the polar vortex. Consider it a taste of good things to come!!

Interesting choices in recipes, I have a ton. I may have to run out and buy some Florida strawberries for tomorrow.
That explains why our local grocery stores have them on sale. I’ve had your strawberry/rhubarb crisp in my mind for a few days, and I have plenty of rhubarb in my freezer from my brother’s garden last summer. It’s a huge hit at our house!
Thanks for the recipe include – this post (and graphic) is such a pick-me-up in the middle of this unending winter!! Stocking up on the strawberries on my next grocery run 🙂
Lots of great ideas – I LOVE strawberries in any form! Mmmm!
Thank you so much for including me in your round-up. What a bright and cheery post!
When you use strawberries in desserts, do you still buy organic?
Usually I do… depends on how many you need. 🙂
