Extra! Extra!

New Look!

In case you haven’t noticed, Musings of a Housewife just got a makeover!!!!! We still have a few minor kinks to iron out, but for the most part, I think we’re up and running.

I cringe a little bit as I say that . . . my site crashed twice during the installation process, and we’re still not sure exactly why so I don’t want to jinx anything. But so far, so good!

I love everything about it. The light and airy look and feel, the new custom logo, the coordinating buttons on the sidebar that take you to popular features, the newsletter signup box in the header the custom Subscribe & Connect box and the nifty Search/Categories/Archives widget (that uses the Tabber Plugin, if anyone is interested.)

And look at my adorable new button!

Shay Bocks is to credit with all of this deliciousness! She probably gained a few gray hairs in the process, I know I did. But all’s well that ends well.

New Feed!

The other thing that has changed recently, and this has NOTHING to do with the redesign, it just so happened to be necessary right now. Because Google seems to be no longer servicing Feedburner, most bloggers are jumping ship — me included.

My feed provider has changed to Feedblitz, and my new RSS feed can be found here: https://feeds.feedblitz.com/MusingsofaHousewife. This only affects you if you were signed up through Feedburner before. That feed has been deleted and redirected, so you should still be getting my emails in your RSS reader, but if you want to be sure not to miss anything, you may want to change your subscription to the new address.

How to Change Your Feed Subscription

You can go into the Feed Reader of your choice and add it manually.

Or on https://feeds.feedblitz.com/MusingsofaHousewife, on the right there’s a “Subscribe” button – you click on that and pick your service, and then you’re good.

Frankly, this is all pretty much Greek to me so if you’re not following along . . . you’re not alone! I am telling you what my brilliant virtual assistant told me to tell you. HA!!

Make it easier on yourself and subscribe by email! You’ll get an email every day around 10AM with my most recent post(s) in their entirety. (Incidentally, I also publish full feeds, you are very welcome.)

We are actually working on a post about how to move your email subscribers to Mail Chimp, if that is something you want to know how to do. You can move your email subscribers to Feedblitz along with your RSS feed, but it isn’t any cheaper than MailChimp and I’ve been with MailChimp for a while now and I like it so we’re keeping it there.

However you decide to stay up to date, I hope you’re reading and enjoying the new look!!

  1. I like it! And yes, thank you for publishing full feeds! Easiest way to lose me as a blog reader is to stop publishing your full posts.

    1. yes, I totally agree, when I used to read blogs in a feed reader, I felt the same way. my readers are always at the forefront of my mind when making decisions for my blog. I’m willing to give up some page views to keep my friends happy! 🙂

  2. I love that you publish the full post! I don’t have the time to click over for each article I want to read, and usually if a blog goes to abbreviated posts I unsubscribe! Terrible, but true. I love being able to read the article in my email, it saves my time and sanity.
    Love the new look too.
Have a great day and best wishes for working out the kinks. 🙂

  3. Like some of the changes….but miss your bold colors and pictures. Just like with clothes and food nice to have some changes! Everything except your picture looks muted. I know I have a hard time with change….I will get use to it.

    1. lol. I needed a change. I came across OhMyVeggies.com and fell in love with the light and airy look and feel of her blog so I asked her for her designer. All of Shay’s designs have this feel to them. I am really enjoying it!!

  4. The new colors and fonts are really nice! How do we go from the full view of one post directly to the full view of the next (or previous)?
